USB wins, actually. I thought it was system, but I confirmed it yesterday (unless it varies by title - my test case was Haxchi'd Kirby Mass Attack vs. the regular game.)
Yes. Its true.
If the game installed HDD and system memory. Will load USB HDD not internal.

Tested this with SM3DW. Installed HDD and internal memory. Version in HDD doesnt run with error. But internal runs fine. If usb pluged in i got game error and if not games runs.

I have a question that someone may be able to answer.
So, I've loaded several games/DLCs/etc onto a 32gb SD card plugged into the WiiU with a reader.
I just bought 64gb flash drive and I want to transfer all of those files onto there, but obviously because of the way the sd card is formatted, I can't simply transfer over the files normally without formatting and wiping the sd card completely.
I tried backing up an image of the sd card and restoring it to the flash drive, but it shows up as "unallocated" space when I use a partition tool.
I'm very very new to all this stuff so if anyone could help me I highly appreciate it. I don't want to have to manually install all my games again.

An SD card in a reader, when formatted with the WiiU, counts as a USB drive. As far as the WiiU is concerned, you have two USB drives - the new one and the SD in the USB reader. When you have two USB drives connected, the system will allow you to use Data Management to copy the content from one drive to the other. That's a normal WiiU function. It will copy slowly (like overnight) but at least you don't have to reinstall everything.

If you tried putting the SD in the front SD slot, that's not going to work. It has to stay in the USB reader.

Dude thank you so much! I don't know why I didn't think of that haha.

Can I use my existing Wii U external HDD that has legit games on it I bought from the eshop? Will anything get wiped?

Do I need any CFW for this or just the browser hack is fine?

And lastly, can I use my current PAL Zelda save on a US Zelda, since this method only supports games installed from the same region of the console?

Yes, you can use your drive. Nothing gets wiped. No, you don't need CFW for legit titles with disc-based tickets. Yes, you can use your EUR save, but you have to copy it to the US title. (Look for the Saviine or Zelda BOTW threads.)

Thanks a lot :)

Been doing a lot of research since I posted. Still working on everything and hope I get everything right. Doesn't look complicated. I just hope my save file works :)

I have been trying to install Call of Duty Ghosts... converted from a loadiine folder with Nuspacker and ofcourse the correct encryption key... I did this with mass effect 3 and it worked fine. however with Call of Duty Ghosts it only install a 5gb patch and not the game itself. Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?
Regards

My Bayonetta 2 has a really big .app format (more than 5gb).Is there I way that i can put it in my SD?(128 gb FAT32)
You have a bad download. No app file can legitimately be larger than 4GB. (the size field in the tmd is only 32 bits)

Make sure that you're replaced app.xml/cos.xml/meta.xml with the legit ones as noted in the Convert Loadiine games to USB installable tutorial thread.

don't know what just dance games u were looking at, but I've downloaded them twice.

Just Dance 4 - 22 x .app files, largest single .app file is just under 2GB (Title ID: 000500001010F000)
Just Dance 2014 - 17 x .app files, largest single .app file is just over 3GB (Title ID: 0005000010143F00)
Just Dance 2015 - 19 x .app files, largest single .app file is just under 2GB (Title ID: 0005000010176F00)
Just Dance 2016 - 24 x .app files, largest single .app file is just under 2GB (Title ID: 00050000101B9800)
Just Dance 2017 - 24 x .app files, largest single .app file is just under 2GB (Title ID: 00050000101EAA00)
Just Dance Disney Party 2 - 23 x .app files, largest single .app file is just under 500MB (game not on NUS, WUD extracted) (Title ID: 000500001016C800)
Just Dance Kids 2014 - 23 x .app files, largest single .app file is just over 500MB (Title ID: 0005000010145B00)

I have installed every single EUR/PAL game, just over 150 games to USB and non of the .app files was over 4GB.

Unless the files on the NUS server has changed to combat wupinstaller method by having one or two .app files larger than 4GB, this way you can't copy larger files to FAT32 SD CARD.

this is incorrect. the just dance games (2 of them) have .app files at 5GBs and 9GBs.
You'll have to enlighten us with a little more detail.

Please tell us the TitleID and the source - not web site - just whether the files came from wud, disc, NUS... If they're from NUS, what utility are you downloading with, and how did you verify the file size against the tmd file? Also, which app files are too large?

Hi everybody! I had this problem with too large files in the past. It was caused through an outdated version of winrar.
With the latest Version of Winrar or 7Zip everything went fine. And I can confirm - there is no .app file over 4 GB !

I remember reading something about this somewhere but can't find it again so I'm asking the experts :)
My scenario: I own Mario Kart 8 on disc and I've bought both DLCs.
However, since I'm lazy I don't want to handle the physical disc and as such I want to install the downloaded version via wudinstaller.
So heres my question and what I think I've read somewhere.
Do I have to move my DLCs and/or save file first to the USB drive and then install the game?
Or can I simply install the game, patches and DLCs to the drive and then everything works automagically?
I have a vague memory that I read that doing what I wrote last will delete or otherwise nuke my save file which I don't want since I have unlocked everything on it.
