I foolishly CBHC installed cold boot to an out of region vc game. When booting i now get the following error.
There is a problem with the system memory. Please contact Nintendo and quote.

I wish there was a way of installing a preloader type of program (obviously b4 my brick issue) or some kind of button combo safe mode which would allow the wii u to boot past the error screen. Obviously the issue is the system see's cbhc trying to load an out of region game and puts a stop to it, I don't think it is that the actual system is broken so to speak. with that in mind I wonder if I can replace the piece of hardware responsible for telling the system what region it is with that of a us piece of hardware.

it's a software issue, so it would be the NAND. cbhc tells the system to load the haxchi game instead of the normal system menu. u can fix it if u have a backup of the NAND. u can get that with if u've installed redNAND basically.

Unfortunately I did not use rednand but I did dump my otp file

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the config file altered by CBHC is stored in the slc chip, which is even harder to dump and restore :/

not sure. I haven't looked into that. if u dump the NAND, it should come with 3 partitions. the slc partition sounds right though. the mlc is the game install location, and I know the slc chip houses tickets as I just fixed one of mine with a member of temp who walked me through it. I'm still learning the wii u actually, so my knowledge is limited.

Sounds like my young son is going to learn a tough lesson and not be to fond of me for a long time.

You might ask one of your friends to dump their NAND, otherwise you're fucked.
OTP keys are needed to decrypt NAND ifrc?
You could also try flashing custom firmware for Gamepad which would bootup Quick Menu but i don't know if that's possible. [Theoretically we can flash gamepad's firmware but this shit is so advanced]

If you have an OTP dump, it is indeed possible to decrypt your encrypted NAND dump from a hard-mod, modify that dump and then re-encrypt it and flash it back to the console. From what I've heard on other threads, the SLC NAND chip can be somewhat problematic to dump.

I heard that there is a recovery on the wii u. But you need a special file on your sd which no one has right now.

The only tool that can access bricked Wii U's is Nintendo's own recovery tool. [Which only Nintendo has access to]
We seriously need to develop a recovery tool if we will find a way to compromise boot1 or boot2.
