My Switch has a terribly bad Wi-Fi range. 1-2 bars in 3 meters away from my router, or any router else.

It is a Japanese version of hardware, which is said to be the same as European version. I found it can only support 5Ghz Channel 36,40,44,48 or 2.4Ghz. On my console the signal strength of 2.4Ghz is weaker than 5Ghz.

How many people found the same problem?

I've heard about that problem a lot.
Mine doesn't have this problem.
It sits next to my Xbox One S, both at 10-15 meters from the router, and both have good signal.
My router accepts connections both in 2.4GHz and 5GHz.
I didn't really go into detail when setting up the Wi-Fi on the Switch, so I have no idea what frequency it is using.
It just connects, and it works good.

I actually got pretty good reception. Then again, I'm like 5-6 meters from the router and it's placed open in the apartment so there are no obstacles for mine.

My room sadly gets a pretty weak signal, and I don't want to spend money to fix it since this is just a place I rent, out of all my devices, I sometimes have issues getting my PC to connect, my smartphone works pretty good all of the time, and my Switch is permanently stuck on 0 bars. (And it's slightly closer than the rest of my devices) so I have to undock it and move closer to the router if I want to go online.

Mine's about the same distance away, and there's also a wall between it and the router, and I get a decent 2 bars. Download speeds from the eShop are decent as well, though I don't think the Switch can show how fast they're going yet, can it?

Sort of, there is a speedtest in it, but it doesn't add up correctly because it speedtest to some server that's far from me.
But when I check my router interface and I see the realspeed its transmitting and reciving at it's around 144 all the time. It lowers itself when it doesn't transmit or recives, probably to save battery.

Yeah, 144mbps all the time, too.

2.4 is horrible unless it is 6-8' from router in same room. 2Mbps down/ 1Mbps up using the system speed test or fast.com through the browser. All other devices get 40-50Mbps down on 2.4GHz. Much better on 5GHz 30-40 down/7-8 up. Other devices do much better on 5GHz except 3DS which is 2.4 only. My isp provided Arris DVR/router/modem all in one will not do both at the same time.

I thought I had the weak wifi issue but after looking at my Xbox one s and TV's signal maybe not. All have 1-2 bars, none of them are far from the router but 2 concrete walls seperate them.

So you guys are actually trusting the little wifi icon on the switch itself? Have any of you actually logged into your router and looked at the signal strength and speed there?

My switch has 2 out of 3 bars and seems no worse than any of my other devices. I really should move my router out from behind my TV one of these days...

Yeah Switch connection is very solid for me, but it's on the same 5GHz band that my PC is. I recommend anyone that doesn't have one get a high-speed dual-band router for wireless.

And don't put it in a corner behind the TV, that's just giving your neighbors signal. :P

I got two of three bars, and still managed to get at least over 50MBPS download speed on my ac router. God damn they finally put that 5GHZ AC wifi in the system. Can't wait to test online mode with this. :P

Oh ya that reminds me, I can disable my 2.4 band since I was only using it for my 3DS.

What about your other stuff?

To be fair even when close to my router i get about the same speeds so i have no complaints. Seeing over 50MBPS is great to me. HELL Seeing a actual speed test is great. NO other nintendo system even had a speed test to know how well the connection is. Now if only my ps3 and ps4 would get over 20MBPS on their test. :P

All my other devices, tv, laptops, phones, switch, they are all AC 5Ghz, the only thing using the lower band was my N3DSXL because it didn't support AC.
