Wind Waker supported 4:3 and 16:9. It shouldn't be squished when running in either mode. That sounds like the TV aspect ratio is set to justify or something.

Can someone take a screenshot of this pixel corruption in Wind Waker? I haven't seen it.

No native widescreen support that I've seen. I'm not using a widescreen hack. I'm just trying to understand the logic behind the 'auto' video width, since it doesn't give a correct looking image.

It could be some weird setting on your TV. Different TVs can output the same images differently. One of my TVs underscans the Nintendont menu while another overscans it quite a bit so parts of the menu are cut off.

I've got a 4TB Seagate Expansion Portable. It's partitioned at 2TB. I can't seem to figure out how to format the first partition as MBR to use with Nintendont. Can anybody help me or let me know if it's even possible?

MBR is for the entire drive. You set it before you create the partitions.

My controller is sync with wii and all 4 lights are on but i cant do anything with my Nunchuk or classic controller

Do you have any other kind of controllers plugged in or do you have native controls on?

Yes, but a drive larger than 2TB cannot be formatted to MBR. Or is there a workaround?

If you are using Windows you can right-click on the drive (not the partition) in Disk Management and convert it to MBR but you have to remove all of the partitions first. Once it's MBR you will have to make two separate 2GB partitions but make sure you make them a few bytes less than 2,147,483,648 (2GB).

GerbilSoft added GPT support for Nintendont but I'm not sure how it works with the Homebrew Channel and Wii loaders.

Thanks for your help. I've gotten it to the point where Windows can convert 2TB to MBR, but the rest of the drive remains unallocated. I'm beginning to feel as if it's impossible to have an MBR drive be able to be read larger than 2TB, regardless of partitioning.

Thanks for that information, I wasn't aware. Do you by chance happen to know which build of Nintendont this was introduced in?

Sorry for the big ass quotes-post but this is DEFINITELY an issue.
I've experienced the SAME EXACT thing with not one, but 2 Wiis and my current Wii U.
The "specs" are more noticeable on the standard Wii though (I presume because of the resolution).
It's highly unlikely that all of my consoles have malfunctioning hardware.
so you have been seeing 4 random green pixels on dark floors ever since version one and never reported or said anything ? neither did anyone else all this time?

If anybody has any ideas, Id really appreciate it. I don't know what would be causing me this weird problem and no one else. If you've got some free time, I'd appreciate somebody maybe trying wind waker from Nintendont, and then looking closely at your screen (making sure the background is dark) one the game has started to see if you have it too. I have no idea what it could be anymore considering the ISO works from a different app.
Took from the US Version, only memory card emulation enabled, everything else set to either "Off" or "Auto":

I'm unable to see anything remotely green on the floor, using my wii connected via s-video to my tv card, no filters used to make this raw screen cap.
Also as a bonus, I did the same test using my normal wind waker settings (anti-blur cheats, 640 video width, force ntsc no deflicker) and the picture gets much sharper and still, no green pixels get introduced.

Just tried out Nintendont from a drive formatted as GPT, FAT32, 32kb cluster size. Nintendont is confirmed working from Homebrew Channel as well as USB Loader GX.
Perhaps the original post could be updated by the OP @sabykos to reflect this finding? It still says:
- The drive must use MBR partition table (not GPT)

No, not "four pixels". Sometimes its a bunch of pixels, and at least in my case they can be any color. Sometimes its when you pan the camera a certain way (mainly on the island, looming at the sea). Sometimes when rolling etc. You get the point.
The reason I never reported it is because I thought that it might just be me, or that something like this would be so low on the list of priorities that it wouldn't matter. Also, it's hard to see so unless you play really close to the screen and have a big ass screen (65' here) you probably won't even notice them.
Anyway, I'll see if I can grab some captures one of these days. I'll make sure to tag fix, you and grey

Hi all,

Running Nintendon't directly on my softmodded vWii. It loads initially, can find my games fine, but after starting a game and then using the soft reset button combo (L + R + Z + Start on my GCN controller through the GCN adapter), it just goes to a black screen. Is this expected? Am I doing something wrong? Everything seems to work up to that point, but once I hit that black screen I have to hard power cycle the system.

EDIT: It happens when I exit Nintendon't as well. If I just start Nintendon't and then press home/start to exit, it goes to a black screen and doesn't load the Homebrew Channel.

I don't believe so, my TV doesn't change mode between vWii, Homebrew Channel, Nintendont and the GC game. As far as my TV is concerned it's receiving the same kind of 720p signal the entire time. So is 'auto' intended to give you a 4:3 picture at all times? What I am seeing would make sense if auto just meant 'assume square pixels'.

You're correct it does not have 16:9. I was thinking it did because it supports 480p.

Ah, I've never noticed a correlation between GC 480p support and 16:9 support on the GC. I think I only had 2 or 3 games with widescreen support (also 480p modes were taken out of PAL games and the option was used for 60Hz selection instead).

auto is just 4:3 with the default value the game actualy uses for width and height, just becuase you always saw perfect 4:3 those werent the actual native game values, the gc always did some adjusting to make it full 4:3 some games showed less on height or width and then it was adjusted when displaying thrugh the gc so yeah think of auto has the 100% native width the game provides basicaly the 1:1 value the game actualy used on its codding.

Right, a bit like how SNES games are too tall if you use square pixels?
