The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild's development is complete

The long-awaiting upcoming Legend of Zelda title has finally wrapped up development. Breath of the Wild has officially gone gold, according to a Tweet by Monolith Soft developer Yasuyuki Honne, which shows a picture of the game's staff, alongside Shigeru Miyamoto during a wrap-up party. After multiple delays, from 2015, to 2016, and now into 2017, we can finally celebrate the game's full completion.

I like the way in his Twitter picture hes holding a glass of bubbly up! as if to say Zelda's now finished, "ching ching, all aboard the bank role train!" I bet those developers will make some serious dough out of the new Zelda title!

Raaaah! I cannot afford to buy a switch on release day (400$ for the console and game, 350$ without game, and I'm not going to buy the Wii U just for one game) and something tells me that I'm not going to manage avoiding spoilers all over the Internet...

Guys, do you think playing Skyward Sword before this one is necessary? I mean I know SS is pretty much the genesis of the Zelda series, but do you think it's absolutely necessary to play SS first?

Yes the BOTW title screen has a trivia quiz about Skyward Sword and if you don't get it right locks you out of the game.

Thanks for the insight, maybe I should read a summary of the game or something like that...

More seriously, I don't know why you answered like that, maybe my question was not formulated correctly. I'll try again :

Do you think that finishing SS is absolutely necessary to understand the plot in BotW? I heard somewhere that the game is tightly connected to SS and TP. I'm really looking forward to this game, so I'm avoiding pretty much everything related to it on the Internet, so I'd really like to get a proper answer (spoiler free) if possible :)

Sorry. I was just being a smart ass.

Overarching story has never been too important to the Zelda series. Until right before Skyward Sword, the series didn't even have a timeline beyond a few connections between select games. (Miyamoto says he's always had a timeline in his head, but I don't believe him.)

I think you will have no problems with the story if you jump in to BOTW.
