Kojima Talks about the Switch, compares it to Transfarring and the gamer's dream

The creator of the Metal Gear series shared his thoughts on the Nintendo Switch in an interview with IGN at RTX Sydney, a recent video game convention held at, well, Sydney.

“You might be familiar with the fact that for a previous game that I did, we had a specification that we called 'Transfarring' where you could take the saved data from the PS Vita and move it over to the PS3 and back and forth like that,” Kojima told IGN. “I believe [Switch] is an extension of that idea. The fact you can play something at home and take it outside, this is the gamer's dream. The Switch is an evolution of that.”

“For example, often when you buy a Blu-Ray disc, it'll have a code on the inside for a digital version, so in the same respect you can watch it at home and then take it on the go on your tablet and smartphone,” he continued. “This is how movies and TV are moving, and this is how games should go.”

Kojima added that he sees the Switch as the beginning of a future where people will be able to play any game on any device.

“I feel like cloud technology is what everything will eventually move to,” he said. “It's further behind right now than I think where people thought it would be at this point, but I think it will go there, and when the infrastructure is ready, you'll be able to play everything, on every device, anywhere. The Switch is the predecessor to this step."

Does the game creator, who claims that 70% of his body is made of movies, newfound interest in the Switch foretell more Nintendo support with Kojima-branded games?

If it was 3 years later I'd be more happy for Mario Kart 9... Last of Us Remastered included all the DLC(Just like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe), improved graphics, higher resolution textures, longer draw distance, improved audio, tweaked combat, photo mode and developer commentary. I have no evidence for this but I'm sure Naughty Dog originally developed it for the PS3 and PS4. It would make sense since Sony published it and had PS4 developer kits at the time.

They also added Southpaw controls for us minority Left Handers, heathens of the gaming universe; obviously why so many game studios don't spend the 1 hour of coding to add the feature in:toot:

Just be ambidextrous like me (its a choice, totally not how your brain is wired :P jk). I'm glad to hear about that, never really thought of it as a problem...

Not trolling. You said mature and you know what mature means, don't you? Getting older.

Anyway, in terms of trolling I'd say we're both trolling. "gamer's dream is literally VR" lol.
Especially with the Switch trying to see how VR works with their system. 720P VR in majestical 480P per eye !!!!!!!!!
I'm trolling btw before i get a shitload of hate comments.

Not necessarily. All they'd have to do is put additional hardware in the dock to boost the power during home play and leave the portable play as is. Devs might have to gimp their games a bit more than now for portable mode, but at least then it could have compete with the PS4/Xbone when it comes to "home consoles" while at the same time keeping the portable gimmick going strong. As it is, any multi-platform title is going to have to gimp itself for the sub-par "home" gaming power...and then gimp it some more to keep portable play at least "playable".

On topic, I'm curious to see if Kojima will consider the Switch for ports of his games, third party support is always good.
The usb c controller cannot be more generic. I doubt it can push say four lanes of pcie.

Nah, the gamer's dream literally is VR like in SAO.
That would be true if a vast majority of the community wasn't so conservative with games. All I have heard for years now is how Nintendo needs to do what the other guys are doing and stick to "traditional" controls. Meanwhile I was enjoying PS3 and Wii games for what they delivered but my Wii got more attention because it felt like it tried and succeeded at doing something new. And I was wishing more Wiimote+ games on the Wii U, which basically was like every other console(almost every game could be just played with the Gamepad or Pro controllers) without a larger graphics gimmick.
