Yep, with the latest version
suuuweet, i think i will go ahead and install it then !

i do not want to brick my Wii U ! soo

well i read the FAQ in this thread and it is well written, but i want to make 100% sure !
so i installed the iosu thingie some months ago and i have my fw.img in the root of my SD card, and i tested it through the loadine.ovh site iirc. and it loaded (DLC's i had installed for my retail disc of MK8) just fine !

so what i did yesterday was , i purchased brain age NDS game and then i installed Haxchi , the brain age icon turned into the Haxchi one and so what i did then i went on ahead and tested it out.

i edited the config text from haxchi to load fw.img as default and so when i started haxchi it started my fw img and i ran MK8 and it loaded up the DLC's just fine , this means my Haxchi is ready for cbhc? so i can install cbhc over it safely now , i need to do nothing more but place the cbhc folder in root and the wiiu/app/cbhc then Homebrew menu and installing done ?

i noticed that in the cbhc folder that should go to the root of SD card has similar files to the haxchi folder that had to go to the root of SD card, what should i do with the haxchi one? should i keep them in my SD?

thanks!

So, fw.imgs are a bit outdated... The best thing is:
With Haxchi: set "default=sysmenu"
With CBHC: set "Autoboot: System Menu"
Without those: setup Mocha CFW

In your situation, well... you could run the CBHC installer, install, then at boot set Autoboot: System Menu and you're done...
You could even boot without an SD

nice, so if i installed cbhc, will i always see that black menu of its options when i boot my wii u ?
or will it only appear when i hold a button pressed?

and is the option to load straight into vwii upon boot available in the black menu of its options now ?

So, if you set "Autoboot" it will only show "Autobooting ...... in 5 seconds" and in that period you can press HOME to return to the "CBHC menu"

thanks , is there an app file for SDcaffine+Kernel ? i used that option in loadine ovh mainly to enable my SSB mods.
it would be nice to be able to autoboot with SDCaffine, but is it possible?

one more thing i forgot to ask, i know that if you delete/move haxchi app from your NAND then you will brick your wiiu, but what if your haxchi app corrupts ?

is there a way to have CBHC think it is loading HBC but instead of HBC i would replace the elf file of the HBC into lets say the elf file of the SD Caffiine , would it be able to load straight SD cafiine instead ? c:

i want to try that, thankfully i did not Brick !! wooo haha but i hope the file will never corrupt, i placed it somewhere safe.

edit: i tried the SD caffiine replacement and it worked !

As I got a 15 Euro prepaid eShop card, I bought me both Brain Training as well as Yoshi Touch&Go, as they are both 7 Euro.

With two games, is it also usefull and/or possible to install Haxchi on one of those games and then Haxchi + CBHC update on the other game?

For example, would this also prevent an accidental brick if one of those two would be deleted, and the other would still be on the WiiU? Completely hypothetical ofcourse, but as I got a little kid that will start to use the WiiU somewhere down the line, just asking...

It won't prevent a brick. If the title you installed CHBC on is deleted, the console will try to launch that nonexistent title, and will fail to do so.

Alright, thanks for that clear answer.

So thats the thing with autoboot/CHBC, which fails when the game its installed on gets deleted.

How about when on both games I bought, I install Hatchi. If one gets deleted, the other still works right. And no brick then, as CHBC is not installed on either?

Same question, but then with Mocha CFW installed after Haxchi, brick or no brick when one of the Haxchi games gets deleted?

If you don't install CBHC, then the WiiU will still start up to the WiiU Menu title, so deleting one or both of the Haxchi titles won't matter. Since it doesn't matter whether those titles exist, it doesn't matter if one of them happened to be configured to run Mocha.

Alright, that makes sense to me. Thanks for that.

Now one last question, as its CHBC that causes this problem, when the modified game is removed and the console keeps searching for that missing file going into a continue circle of not being able to find and thus fail/brick... Isn't there a way to get that booting payload to say if A is not there, do B? Which is booting into the normal system menu, or Mocha or whatever might be possible?

Imust say that with a young kid, almost 2 now, I might just choose for Haxchi only, to be sure he never accidently or not removes the CHBC game instead and brick the WiiU....

Here's the story. When the WiiU starts up, it reads a config file that, among other things, tells it what title to start automatically. We can't change the fact that it does this, but we can modify the config file.

Without getting into real title numbers, let's call the WiiU Menu TitleA, and the hacked title TitleB.

Before you do any hacking, the system starts up, reads its config file, and that config file says to start TitleA, (then TitleA will take it from there.)
TitleA (the normal menu) starts up.
You are happy.
You run CBHC Installer, which, in part, changes that config file entry to say TitleB.
You reboot.
The system starts up, reads its config file, and that config file says to start TitleB, (then TitleB will take it from there.)
TitleB (CBHC) starts up. It's the DS game engine with some modified content that makes the system do what you want.
You are still happy.

Now let's say you delete TitleB, and reboot.
The system starts up, reads its config file, and that config file says to start TitleB, (then TitleB will take it from there.)
There is no TitleB.
You are sad.

So although you can make TitleB as smart as you want, if TitleB isn't there, it doesn't do any good. And now that you have no system menu, you can't do anything that would allow you to fix the problem.

Good explanation of the process. I get it, CBHC modified game gone means endless loop of WiiU searching for it.

Now, completely in theory and I am not into coding/programming at all. Nor do I know a lot about the WiiU hardware/software specifically, but with the Wii there was some writing in system files, changing processes if I am right.

Isn't there a way to reprogram/add something in the WiiU booting process, so when it starts to read a game and game is gone (CBHC game) is gone, after one or a couple of tries it goes to the normal system menu?

Anyhow, for now I will stick to just Haxchi, maybe with Mocha additional, so that whem someone/my kid might delete the Haxchi game, WiiU will not be bricked.
