New 100% Discreet 3DS Hardmod

If this needs to be moved somewhere else that's fine. I just wanted to share my idea with everyone. This is an alternate way to hardmod 3DS systems. It works the same exact way as in the thread posted here @ https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-noob-friendly-nand-dumping-2ds-3ds-3ds-xl-n3ds-n3ds-xl.414498/ Since there is already a guide on hardmods I'll just leave pictures of it. This method doesn't require any housing/shell modifications for any model which was actually the motive for making this. If people ask I can provide more details and better pictures.

yeah I did one like this a while back, but my personal experience with flex cables is they break/crack easily when frequently bent which is why I didn't ever push them as a option as I wouldn't want to deal with having to fix them randomly due to the cable becoming cracked

but for a limited use thing and if you explain to be a bit more careful when plugging the cable in it should be fine, its not like people should be needing to use their nand mod more than a few times anyway

I can't PM you?

If the ribbon cable was shorter, it could hide under the battery when not in use to make it even more discrete.
The ribbon cable can hide under the battery anyway if you fold it first. It does say 100% discreet after all ;)

+1 flex cables are meant to be internal, not external

This is so much more clean and discrete, are read/write speeds effected?
The read/write speeds are better than the usb method since this one takes advantage of the dat1, dat2 and dat3 pads.

You're talking about saving a whole 1.5 to 2 mins using the other DAT points, problem here is FFC ribbons can and will make bad nand dumps and even write bad dumps. I've looked into this before, than remembered the NAND corruption that comes with it and scrapped the idea.

Not recommended at all.

It was a good idea though, maybe look into proper flex cables.

Thanks. This was mostly a poc thing. What specific type of flex cables would you recommend? I'd really like to make this as proper as possible.

This is very interesting. Do you mind sending me some more pictures of this mod over PM as well as how you did it?

i want a clip type thing like an E3 - no reason to leave the hard mod in once modded.

i did 2 hardmods, 1 left in because the 3ds is bricked anyway and i wanted to mess with dump/flashing. the other i hardmodded, a9lh'd and took the hard mod out.

the cable does look like it might damage easily
It does have an easier chance of breaking than the other methods. I figured it wouldn't really matter that much though if you're really careful and since you'd only really be using it a few times ever.

I was looking into this as a mod not requiring any shell/housing modification. I will be looking into designing and making an E3 clip type thing soon though.
