I made some testing using the new inserter to modding the text inside the overlays and I notice the folowing issues:

- I'm sorry , for this one. I forget to point you the text of the second menu that must be extracted also from overlay_0002.bin.(I attached a capture now with all the text that has to be extracted. Sorry bro

-After change any text inside the overlays using the inserter the game crash when I try to play the minigames again.(It remains in a black screen when I try to start the minigame) I've attached a save file so you can test the minigames when you made the changes and also some captures of where to find them.

I updated the zip file with the other strings, but not sure why it's failing. I compared the decompressed files before and after and the pointers were updated correctly. The pointers in overlay files are to memory address rather than in the file itself, so you have to add the RAM address (Crystaltile2 shows it in the NDS File System window) of 0x022802E0 to get the pointer, e.g. the string at 0x3D58 in the file will be at 0x02284038 in memory, and you can find that pointer at 0x0724 in the file.

I tried compressing the modified overlay from the unpacked/ folder into the ROM through Crystaltile2 and it worked fine, so maybe there's something wrong with the compression library I'm using. It's worked fine with other games, though.

It's just as you say. I just tried compressing it with Crystaltile2 and everything works fine. Also I tried to compress it with the tool on Nintendo_DS_Compressors_v1.4-CUE and it does not work either.Thats weird???? Thanks a lot for the explanation of how pointers work. Then I have to do a manual pointers calculation? or can I take the outgoing file from the Inserter, decompress it again and then re-compress it with the Crystaltile2?

I recently discovered mm2r on ds and I've been enjoying it a lot. So many things about the series click for me: open world, post apocalyptic, vehicles, no magic. I'm sure I'm going to play 3 next so I'd be interested in helping translate it if this project is still going.

2017/02/24 GRAPHICS EDITING ISSUES AND NEWS!

Recently I found the following problem to edit some of the graphics of the mini games.

The problem is the following: I can only visualize the graphs correctly using Tinke which does not let me insert the graph already edited and with TiledGGD which does not allow editing. I have also tried with TileMolester 0.19, Tilelayer pro, YY-CHR and the tile editor of Crystaltile 2 but in these I can not even find the correct settings to view them. Please, brothers, could you give us a hand? Anyone have any idea how to manage and edit these graphics?

I think the problem may be with the tile size that in this case is 4x4? Or maybe something I'm doing wrong??

I leave some screenshots of Tinke and TiledGGD so you can see the configurations that I'm using, as you may notice the palette is not good but that does not worry me that much.

Opps I almost forgot , the great notice is that we decided the release an alpha patch when we finish editing all the graphics , so stay tuned.

Also, try to ask in romhacking forums rather that in the last page of this thread, I'm not sure if other people with knowledge on these apps will notice this.

Thanks for the encouragement, at least! I don't have much time to work on this project these days with my new job, but I certainly have no intention of dropping it.

Ohhhhh... ;) :) you're the best Subötaï, sorry I still have tears in the eyes man !! ;) You are a life savior brother. . Thank you very, very much, I had been trying to find the correct conf. for months. Now we are ready, so that the edition of the mingames can move forward. I have done some tests and I have cleaned the first graph to work it (I left a capture). I am very happy to announce the official start of Minigames graphics edition and hope to have them ready soon.

If in the future we are looking for another translator, we will certainly contact you.

It's cool. I wish you guys luck on getting the patch completed, this series is a lot of fun and it deserves to be played.

I think a lot of people out there would enjoy it. I usually have trouble beating jrpgs but with mm2r before I knew it I had a 50 something hour clear save. Reminds me a lot of old western post apoc games like fallout and wasteland in a weird way.

Minigames's graphics edition

Ufff, finally I have something to show you, things are going a little slow since these graphics have their complications. But I hope to have them all ready for the first days of April. (I leave you some captures of Blackjack already edited)

ASM Hacking

I have good news on this !!! Some time ago I got in touch with Jasper Vijn , and he agreed to help us with the assembler stuff. There is not much to show yet, but right now he is working with the limitation of the 11 characters.

I really love this series so I hope you guys manage to finish this.
Take it easy and take all the time you need. I wouldn't mind waiting a few years if that was what it took for the project to be complete (been waiting around 8 years for some).

It is such a shame that only one game in the entire series was released in the west, and it was a spin-off of sorts (I still loved it).
