Yeah, I forgot to mention you can overclock Intel HD 4000's. That could be useful to the OP to squeeze out a few more frames if a game just barely won't run.
Probably no more than 20fps more. Still, a big difference. But, that'll also affect the overall performance of the Laptop.

Wait; what are you referring to?

EDIT:

Intel CPU Specs
Seems this CPU has Intel HD 4000 Graphics; not shabby.

~You can also overclock it to 3.00Ghz.
Oh, I edited that back.
What I was saying is that sometimes it becomes so easy to just pay and get the thing working, that you end up doing that even if it goes against your principles because it's easy.
Another example would be "half-finished" games that you buy, and later pay for the fucking DLC*1 because you want to play it, even if you think it is wrong for a company to get into your wallet like that, but it's easy to just pay and play than to go all revolutionary on an ideological strike.

I don't know if it's clear, I don't seem to get into good terms with the English language so late in the night.

*1 I feel like that e.g. for FFXV, for which I believe it is not only half-finished but it is missing a lot of background on many characters, and sure I will end up getting the DLCs that add this background stories.

20fps? You generous god.

It's generaly not recommended to overclock laptop, especially those who are not builded for it.
You could doesn't mean you should.

Theoretically, that CPU supports overclocking. Yet, the other components may be affected due to heat for example.

I am actually getting around 30-45 FPS in Minecraft PC with a Tekkit ModPack which is pretty playable.

No man, that's not how it works. I get over 200FPS in Counter Strike. But I get 30 fps in DOOM.

200fps is overkill. all you need is 60fps. On my previous laptop I would get around 15-25fps in Minecraft alone.

He brings up a good point. There's a huge gap between heavy games, and light games. For example, Sonic dash is light, or a 2d game. But, Doom demands far more. More effects, higher res textures to render, etc. Minecraft PC is poorly coded and optimized. Cough Java Cough.

No it isn't. In a game like Counter strike you need all the fps you can get. Higher FPS is ALWAYS good.

I get 125 FPS in Counter Strike Source on this Intel HD 3000 but it can dip to below 30 around smoke.

That's another good point: More fps is better per say, if the frames go down when your average is two hundred or more, then you won't notice any major difference.

Only if you have a display that supports that.
I know many people have, but AFAIK nowadays the true refresh rate coming from most monitors owned by common people and built into common laptops is no higher than 75Hz/FPS.

In Counter Strike your server ticks are limited by your FPS. So anything under 100 constant causes choke.

Try running TF2 on a 4k display (@60hz) with Intel HD 3500, it's painful. That's why I use a 1080p monitor.

EDIT:

I need to get a GTX 960 for my desktop x3

Yup.

Recently a 200Hz monitor has been put on the market. I believe it's kinda overkill.
And laptop are limited to 60Hz generally :( even when they can generate more fps.

Hook up an external monitor; you might be able to get 75Hz. Less motion blurring.

Project64 is the only thing I can run at 1080p smoothly. Must be my i3 @ 2.27Ghz (M350).
I have a i5 dual core clocked around 2.4Ghz. Not the best, I might overclock it.
