Hacking Clearly did something stupid while trying to "redo" everything involving softmodding the Wii

Long title, but basically what happened is I was trying to "update" USB Loader GX to play Gamecube games by watching this guy and his lack of explaining instead of looking it up for myself. And it ended up making it to where I could even load up my Wii games anymore and it would only load things from the Wii Menu, and me trying to uninstall and reinstall USB Loader GX didn't fix anything.
So I figured, welp let's remove it all and start over. I deleted all the homebrew channels, and tried to do the Letterbomb again. Doing so just causes the Wii to freeze and not do anything. I wasn't sure why, but I realized the Priiloader is still on there and I didn't know how to get rid of it from the settings it has.
So the next plan was to format the Wii and try Letterbomb again, well that didn't work since Priiloader is still there. And of course I read that you can't easily clean up your Wii just like that after softmodding it.
I clearly need help here and figuring out what to do next, or least help in reinstalling the Homebrew Channel.
Any help will greatly be appreciated

So you've basically removed all your homebrew now? And you don't have the homebrew channel installed? Do you own a copy of any exploiatable game like Super Smash bros Brawl, if so you could try to execute hackmii installer from one of those exploits. And another tip is don't follow youtube guides since they tend to be outdated.

Letterbomb should work wether Priiloader is installed or not. It does require System Menu 4.3 and a clean IOS58, though.

If Priiloader comes up you should be able to start any dol you can put on SD.

Not sure why it ends up making my Wii freeze up though, unless it needs something more than just the pure LetterBomb stuff from the zip.
I think if I can at least use LetterBomb again I can get everything fixed up by installing the Homebrew Channel again, cause I can't access it from Priiloader since I deleted things.

I do own Super Smash Bros Brawl, and yeah you're right, it's better to stick to the threads from here about them.

Great, if you download the smash stack exploit for your region, follow the guide on this link. I can't gurantee that it'll work, but I do think it's worth to give it a shot.

I hope this helps :)
And I have the Homebrew Channel again, worked just like a charm and super simple. Thanks a lot, now I'll actually go through these threads to accurately set things up.

Great, always great to hear of sucessful hacking! From what I understood from your first post I assume you wanted to play backups of both wii and gamecube games?
There is not alot that you need to do, basically you need cIOS 249 and 250 and Nintendont, which is just a Homebrew app.
After that you would just need to configure USB Loader GX to use Nintendont to load Gamecube games.

Yeah that's the plan, I'll also be installing some emulators and such on there and a few wads.
I'll definitely use these guides in particular to set these up, instead of using a video that didn't really explain anything in detail.
I really appreciate it

I don't want to scare you, but when installing wads, it's always good to have some sort of protection setup, like bootmii at boot2 (or IOS) and Priilloader incase of a banner brick. And just ask me if there's something you wonder, hopefully I can answer it! :D

Noted, I do still have Priiloader installed, but I'll keep that in mind in case something happens. At the moment I don't have any particular questions, but I still really appreciate it.

I do have one question in particular, I currently have a 1TB external harddrive for my Wii to load all the different Wii, Gamecube, and soon to be other various things like PS1 and N64 games. And on my SD card I have most of the other stuff for the Homebrew Channel like the Wii64 and WiiSX things, I assume I can, but am I able to just have everything I need solely on the harddrive? Or does it have to be a combination of both?

I believe you could only use the HDD for storage of homebrew, but some homebrew mostly relies on the SD card for paths and such (I believe). However on this subject my knowledge is very compromised because I just use a SDcard and a HDD in a combination.

That's how I have mine set up. All apps and virtual NAND are on a 16GB SD card and all Wii/Gamecube games are on a 1TB external drive. You can just run everything from the HDD but I like to try to keep disc writes to one drive. (Can't do anything about that for Nintendont so far. :()

Since you have Gamecube games on it, what do you run them on, cause I'm trying to use them through USB Loader GX. Though apparently I'll have to partition my harddrive in order to do that.

Nintendont. All Gamecube loaders require FAT32 partitions. :)

Welp guess I have no choice then, any recommendations on a safe way to partition mine? Thanks for the help by the way

You could partition the drive, and make that partition fat 32, thus you never need to backup your drive. However for fat 32, Windows won't natievly format drives over 32gb capacity to fat, but there are freeware that'll do the job great like fat32formater.

I believe that a 100 or 150 GB partition for Gamecube games is more than enough and a Gamecube ISO is about 1.4 GB each.

I'm currently going by this guide on it, and at the moment I'm pulling all the files I need off the harddrive that I need to keep (I don't a lot of space to work with at the moment with this laptop) and after I take them off I'll then partition the hard drive.

I dont remember all the steps, just can confirm it's possible. I run everything from my Hard Drive I dont need an SD card at all. I do remember that it took a lot of time looking to get everything together and working but, I would guess at this point all the stuff has been archived somewhere.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.

I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs

I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
