So what exactly is causing the false(?) positive on virus checkers, such as windows defender? and how can it be avoided without disabling the virus checker ?

Someone mentioned UPX packers, which do seem to cause some false positives. Caution is always advised though, so a sandbox environment would be the way to go if you're worried.

People report you can add up to 88 games before the UI starts to get wonky. 89-90+ seem to cause issues. From what I've read the system has a 512GB storage, with about 40-50% used up for the OS. The entire NES collection can easily fit on the remaining storage, the problem is that the UI seems to have a limit of 88-90 games and so far that hasn't been hacked or bypassed. Hopefully one of the devs can tackle that.

I highly doubt that.

my bad, it's actually more like 25% of the 512MB is used by OS.

from a user on GAF: "It appears to have 512MB, of which ~384mb are accessible to the user and can be used for rom storage but it's also used for save state storage (each save is a couple of kb)."

Ok, so I have it working. For anyone that's been having the same issues I have, I did the below and it worked.

On whatever version of the software you're using at the moment. Unplug the NES, select flash original kernel, follow the steps and hopefully you will have no pipe errors. Then delete your current installation. This should get you back to a clean NES. Then...
  • Turn off Windows Defender (might not be needed but previously I'd transferred from a mac via USB stick)
  • Download the latest version of the software
  • Run the software again while the NES is unplugged
  • Select the dump kernel option and follow the steps
  • Unplug the NES
  • Select flash custom kernel option
  • Unplug the NES
  • Add ROM's to the program
  • Select upload selected games and follow steps
Hopefully like me you'll now have the LED turn off correctly once completed and your NES won't restart, hope that is of use to some people.

Thanks!

at the last step. windows detects the nes mini disconnecting and then reconnecting. and i found out the damn thing powered itself on instead of adding the games.
anybody solved that issue yet ?

I attempted to install 20 games in Canada and it did not work.

I booted the NES mini into Fel mode.
Then I installed the driver.
Upload selected games to NES mini.
Waiting for the NES mini to power off.
Then rebooted the NES mini and nothing.

I tried it several times.
The second time I tried it I had an error stating it was a unknown checksum. Perhaps its patched for Canada?

I'm in Canada followed post one worked flawless first try now have like 75 games, just keep retrying it well work

Thanks for the tool! I have been playing with it all night with no success. Proper driver are installed in the Windows 7 environment as verified by Zadig Utility. Follow the steps, but, when flashing the device boots itself up to the main menu as indicated by other users. .Net 3.5 Installed, Windows Reboot, Broken Pipe sometimes / sometimes not.... Advice?

Note: I am using the USB cable that came with the NES Classic

Probably not, but in some cases windows defender wont shut up about it. - Once defender has removed the threat, it seems to transfer it to a different location, which is then flagged as a threat again constantly over and over. To stop it, I'm having to hunt out the quarantined file and manually delete that also.
So I can't use this thing without being shouted at every couple of minutes about it being a virus.

@K3Nv2 Snow Day is pretty fun. My only bitch would be the camera controls, when you move around, say down, you have to move the right stick left or right to get camera to turn and get your view, other than that I like it so far.

I just been playing offline, and they give you a few bots here n there on your team to help battle. I don't think it's as funny as the other games tho, more battle oriented than humor, which kinda sucks, but I'm still early in it
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, doesnt the game have a campaign mode?
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea, and co-op, but you can also start a pvp session and battle just with friends. You get special skill cards (powers) the more you play. And higher value cards, but you can only enable so many cards at a time.

Toilet paper is considered the money, you collect and buy stuff with TP, kinda funny. Graphics are def better than the other games tho, I think they used Unity 5 engine.
