Hacking To Update Or Not To Update

I've got a sexy wittle 3.55 PS4. I know that there's the webkit exploit project in progress, but what's the end result? CFW? Jailbreak? Or is the outcome just to prove that either of those two are even possible, and even then, neither may get made.

I just don't know whether to update or not. Also, if I do, does my ps4 need to be on the latest update to access psn, or is it like 4.00 and up?

• Update now, get stability enhancement and working playstation store and online play with PS+
• Wait and hope a exploit is made and actually useable (instead of just reported and no hax)

But there is usually tons of sales around this time of year on playstation store, over %50 and up to %80 off, you should see my purchase history, i spent over $300 worth of stuff during black friday and it only cost me $86, that is insane.

Well that's the thing. I don't play online, because I don't have PS+, nor do I have any wish to. They offer lackluster free games, and the price of ps+ increased.
Any game that I see on ps4 that has online that I want, I'd just get on PC for even cheaper, with free online.

What I'd use PSN/Online for is to download the countless free themes and avatars and such that I've accumulated over the last couple months.

So updating isn't too big of a deal, I just wanted to be sure of what the end game was.

So far there's not much even for 1.76 except for running linux, and that has a public exploit. 3.55 may never see its exploit actually released - and even if it did there's no guarantee that loading backups would ever be a reality.

Then again, if you just want to update for themes and avatars then you aren't losing much by playing the waiting game and hoping.

Well i mean still the sales are okay even without playstation plus. I understand what you mean about the games and online and stuff, i hate it too, but if you can save like %80 on a $60 and spend less than $10 for a AAA title, then i mean not terrible, plus i mean just like on pc the games have no tax as well

In your case, is not really something you should be worried with then, unless you buy a game that is system exclusive like King of fighters XIV or Bloodbourne, Horizon zero dawn, god of war or whatever else. They may have updates you are gonna need to play those games when they get released. So if you don't need to buy any games on the psn just stay as low as you can for as long as you can.

Also, not all sales are PS+ eclusive, just some are better deals but some don't even get the PS+ deal boost, so is still worth least knowing. I'm not 100% sure but you can buy games on the playstation store website from pc or mobile app and have them download to the system without needing to use the ps4, store app. I tried it and it works, but i don't know if update is required or not so is just a possibility.

I honestly dunno, i mean as long as you can connect to the playstation network and it doesn't ask for update, it should work.

By not upgrading you miss out on some good games that require you to be on a certain firmware before they are playable. Keep in mind you may be waiting for a while.
