Super Mario Run Pre-Registration for Android is now live

rsz_super-mario-run.jpg

Got no iOS devices and been impatiently waiting to try out Nintendo's latest mobile game? It looks like the wait will soon be over for Android users.

On their twitter page, the Big N has announced that pre-registration is now available for Android:

Once pre-registered, you'll be notified when the game is available to download. Similar to its iOS version, Super Mario Run is available to download for free and enjoy some levels but the full content will be available after paying a set purchase price ($9.99 on the App Store to unlock all 6 worlds). And just like the iOS version, an internet connection is required to play.

Released for iOS on December 15, the game was downloaded more than 50 million times from the App Store in its first week of release.

The exact time before controlling Mario with one hand on Android devices is not known but in the case of iOS devices there was about three months between registration and launch, so expect something similar.

And does this hacked apk allow you to play with a rooted phone with a custom rom? I haven't heard anything like this before except for that one from months ago with a built in joystick.

Nope no root required at all. the APK is moded to work, a long side a fake GPS app.

Pre-registered mainly for the hell of it. Most likely, I'll just swipe away the notification for when it releases, and not play it, because it doesn't seem all that fun. I plan to root my phone (again) once the stable Nougat release of OxygenOS comes around, so if I can't play it after that, oh well.

Has there been an official statement to why they have an always online DRM? It feels anti consumer on a game that's mainly single player.
Nintendo claims it has something to do fighting piracy. People will pirate it one way or another.
Well, the best way to fight piracy has always been to attack legitimate users :^)

Just pre registered but I hope to god that you do not have to have internet
You have to be online to play.

You probably phrased it in a way that made it sound like they would go mobile entirely.

Few things Nintendo...

1. $10 for only 24 levels is STEEP. Thats less levels than the original Super Mario Bros.. Absolutely ridiculous price especially when there are no plans to update it. I would say $1 to $5 MAXIMUM is what they should be charging.

2. An always online requirement for this type of game makes absolutely zero sense because there aren't any in app purchases. You could add license verification instead and while yes that can be cracked into(Im pretty sure the online requirement can be cracked too), it will stop most people.
By having this online requirement you are: Preventing people on airplanes or subways from playing, preventing people who just aren't in the best area from playing, people with tablets and iPads that don't have data connections(which is most of them), Apples entire iPod Touch line, kids with a device they use just for games, so many people will not be able to play a fucking Mario game where you touch to make him jump.

Maybe one of the Nintendo spys on the forum will read this or something idk, this game is an enigma.

Jesus dude no need to be rude. Unnecessary hostility is what really makes you look like a child. If you were truly aware of ram having no impact on software compatibility, then don't claim you can't run an app because you have a whole two gigs of dedotated wam. There's more than just hardware that could conflict with the usage of an app. Maybe next time post your device specifications than complaining about your two Gs.

The pricing is fine, IMO, but the online-only crap is really the huge problem as it forces people to be always on the web in order to be able to play it.

Super Mario Run is a pretty impressive game for a touchscreen platformer and feels just as good as the home console Mario 2D games. Collecting the coloured coins is very challenging and fun.

If a phone can run Miitomo and Pokémon Go then chances are Mario Run will run fine too. Just weird for so many 'your phone is incompatible.'

Hell, I read someone can play Mario Run on an iPhone 4 and that is an ancient phone.

That "your phone is incompatible" crap is bullshit in all reality. There was a game I played daily for several months, then one day they tell me I need to download an update from the play store. I go there and guess what, my phone is magically not compatible anymore! I downloaded an apk of the game and it ran and looked exactly the same as it did before they updated the game client.
