ok, so no need to block nintendo servers/ip/adresses? Thanks :)

You should block nintendo addressed on the router. You can also use the DNS block, but when I was using my Wii U today, I noticed nothing was resolving, so the setup DNS I was using might be having an issue. I already have blocking the following addresses for device with my Wii U mac address.

nus.c.shop.nintendowifi.net
nus.cdn.c.shop.nintendowifi.net
nus.cdn.wup.shop.nintendo.net
c.shop.nintendowifi.net
nus.wup.shop.nintendo.net
nus.cdn.shop.wii.com
nintendowifi.net
nintendo.net
wii.com
google.com

Google I block so I can check using the Wii U browser if my restriction is working.

Happy New Years! Yes, always good to double check.

The scariest part would be that an update gets released, and nobody knows for certainty what will happen. Blocking those addresses will prevent the download from automatically downloading. I also reckon if you use redNAND (and you disable sleep, etc), if an update gets pushed out and your blocking fails, it will download to the redNAND so it won't be installed when the system boots up.

I've disabled the network access from SYSNAND, so there won't be any incident where it downloads an update.

I don't expect an update to come out for Mario Maker or Wii U - the longest a Nintendo console has gone without an update before receiving another update was about 160 days, the Wii U has gone about 340 days without an update. Nintendo is focusing all of their time and energy on the Switch and none on the Wii U, so both CEMU and WII U modding are not likeyl to be targeted by Nintendo. :)

Completely agree. But I heard something about an new recent Nintendo event for SMM. Not sure what those are. Yes, they aren't updates, but course content.

Like you pointed out, after about 8 months, any updates or new DLC would have ran its course (with exception being Smash). I like the challenge coin idea in 3DS. I expect that they will integrate that into the SMM Switch version (which will likely be just a Wii U version with the last update + a few new updates). I would love to see Nintendo expand on the "maker" aspect. I never get tired of watching others play SMM or playing it myself.

I just wish that Nintendo would have made it easier to download mass amounts of levels. It takes SO long to dump all the 1920 levels I've dumped so far, I've spent like 12 hours the past week dumping all of these. It's very discouraging that nobody else is dumping any levels, haha. Of course Nintendo would never plan on doing anything that makes things easier for modding and that sort of thing, I just wish they would have. Oh well.

You download the levels via SMM and then dump the save file? What tool are you using for the save file extraction?

@ all:
This thread is great and so on but you really should consider uploading all your levels here:
https://smmdb.ddns.net/

In a wonderful and bright future it might happen that someone's smart enough to hack Super Mario Maker so it can chose and launch levels directly in game from that database. :)
