Hacking Just bought an Xbox 360, what can I do with it?

Hey all!

As the title says I recently bought a pre-owned Xbox 360 S with a 250GB HDD (I believe)

I was curious as to what I could do with it. It has a dashboard version of 2.0.17511.0, a lite-on disc drive (it seems to be one but I'm not 100% sure) and it's MFR date as printed on the console is 2010-06-21.

If any more information is needed then please let me know, I'm just curious as to what I can do with it.

I do use online a fair bit (For stuff like Guitar Hero Live GHTV).
But I'm curious now, is one method better than the other?
What are the pros and cons of RGH versus an Xkey? (Besides Live access and the such)

I can't delve into that into great detail due to the fact that Im in the process of getting an xk3y for my slim (I've done drive flashing already, so this is a new thing to do) But here is what I can say.

Both will allow you to play games that are put onto an HDD.
The xk3y can ONLY play games, thats it. But it can go online. the xk3y is an ODDE (Optical Disc Drive Emulator), so it basically makes the console think that its the actual disc tray.

RGH can not, and will never go online. However, it can run homebrew. I dont know much about 360 brew, nor how different it is from ps3 or original xbox brew (If xbmc/kodi was on it, I'd do that in a hot second)

However, it IS possible to dualboot nands (basically like an emunand) to have one RGH'd for homebrew, and one untouched for live. Again, havent done it.

There's no worthwhile homebrew for the 360. You have alternative dashboards and a few plugins, temperature logging, system link ping patches, things like that and that's about it. Forget about using a 360 as a homebrew machine, there is just nothing decent there.

You can have dualnand, but it can be a pain in the ass and there are other precautions to take other than just switching and powering cycling & hopping on live (like using a seperate profile for the rgh side and even using an already banned keyvault in the glitched side, just in case you accidently connect). At this point in the 360s life, it's probably easier just to get a cheap 2nd box and have two, one for live, one for rgh rather than messing around with dual nand. Not even sure if the hardware is still readily available.

With such a lack of homebrew the main differences are pretty much.

Xk3y= Retail console, just games from usb rather than disc. If you can't do it on a retail console, you can't do it with an xk3y.

RGH= Unsigned code. In the 360s case, that's games from internal hdd as well as usb, completely region free, free dlc, alternate dashboards, handful of trainers and not much else. You lose live though.

So it most certainly sounds like the best option would be an Xk3y? Would you agree on that?

i have a slim also taken apart sitting collecting dust,
does anyone have a preference of xkey or wassabi?
i thought wassabi was better no? canl'y you dump your drive key with wassabi, don't you need a bunch of xecuter shit power supply and sata interface to dump your key for akey or does it come with everything you need in the box? and don't you still need additional hardware to dump even with a wassabi?

Dumping the DVD key can be done with just Jungleflasher if your PC has a compatible SATA chipset.
If not, you'll need to get a X360 USB.
Jungleflasher comes with a manual on how to dump the drive.
Other then that, me sticky about how to hack a 360 has the installation guide of the Xkey.

Furthermore, the HDD must be formatted to NTFS and needs a folder called GAMES on it.
Be sure to stealth patch your games with ABGX.

You just could flash the dvd drive if the dvd drive isnt a DG-16D5S (then you need a LTU PCB,Glitch Chip and a way to read the nand) and patch the games with ABGX360 and burn them on DVD+R DL.

For the price of the xk3y, you might as well buy another xbox 360 and keep one for online and one for offline. You can RGH one console (get all games free, free dlc, GH songs etc, XBLA games, original xbox games that aren't officially supported and more). And keep the other console legit.

RGH process, I done two consoles a few months back. Took around an hour taking it easy from start to finish.
