How does Eurogamer get all these supposed news about Nintendo stuff? Recently before this was the whole Sun/Moon followup exclusive to the Switch, reported the day of the launch of the two games. Either they are super well connected or are just not accurate, or are just plain liars.
Theyre extremely reliable, there ARE the ones who got the Switchs design to a T.

Is this even higher than a Wii U??
Lol are you serious or?

Of course it's a rumor and take it with a truck load of salt, but Eurogamer has deep connections and they're usually right on the money when it comes to rumors. And honestly, when has Nintendo ever blown away expectations with the specs of their consoles? Laura Dale and the other leakers have also claimed its around an Xbox One's power, so it's not too far fetched to believe.
Think it less "blown away" and more "expect at least this". Besides, for the portable part, sounds like it will still blow away expectations.

Laura Dale said around Xbox One's power? If all true, that's crazy that it has such low speeds and still around Xbox One's power.

How is that even feasible?

edit: the point on the Q6600 is that it can't even play a x265 movie, so, thats realllyyyy out of context here xD, and BTW there is no desktop 2.4ghz i5 also, i do have a Q6600 for my livingroom PC, i love that proc :D
Thats bs, I have an athalon x2 4400+ (stock) that can play x265 fine, and an E7300 that can also play it fine

Let's face it. Specs don't matter as much as everyone thinks it does.

The WiiU bombed because Nintendo itself failed to support it. The games came too late, and IMO they weren't enough, even the hardcore Nintendo fan felt the library was lacking.

The Switch will just get too much software. Imagine the 3DS and WiiU library merged into one... A console with Pokemon, Animal Crossing and Monster Hunter. Backed by Mario, Zelda, Kirby, Fire Emblem and EVERYTHING ELSE. No way in hell this one'll fail.

And when a console gets a comfortable userbase, third party devs will have to put software out on it. Be it third party exclusives or whatever, I don't mean it'll get the latest COD or Battlefield. What I mean is, it doesn't matter. Nintendo's unified catalog is more than enough to drive success. The 3DS was carried by it alone.

They just need a good price point now. $200 and this thing's a huge hit. And if the Pokemon Stars rumor is true, it's gg.

You can't compair the Xbox ones clock speed compared to the switched apparent clock speed. The architecture is so much different being that Xbox ones SoC is 2012 architecture and the switches SoC architecture is presumably newer and much more efficient.

The SoC is 2012, the architecture is 2011. Maxwell is much better

$200 is too cheap, expect $300 for a premium console and $250 for the basic model

thats no BS, i do have a Q6600 and every video in x265 will have artefact, even TV shows who have small bitrates, talking from experience here because i do experiment it...

We are comparing Nvidia and ARM to AMD and x86. I simply don't think it's comparable. We know it's more powerful than a Wii U, and that it might be close to an Xbox One. Even if that's not the case, we know it will be getting many many titles, many of which actually need a somewhat powerful console.

It may simply be simple arithmetic. 2,000 GPU cores at 307MHz will be about as powerful as 307 cores at 2GHz, but with a larger yet cooler thermal footprint that's easier to dissipate, and the power efficiency from being able to turn off more unused cores.

Portable Consoles are always underclocked.

It has a gaming nvidia soc and everything is optimized for that soc.
Also, i suppose the switch supports vulkan so there s no need to beat an high-end smartphone.
It will run games just fine because they are (or at least, some of them) optimized for this hw.

Some special/heavy effects will probably be disabled while on batterry.

These values could be real.

Unless you are using vlc (which is bloated shit and known for artifacting videos)
MPC-HC and Kodi both play HEVC files fine for me
Its either the media player (possibly outdated) or old conflicting codecs for one of those all in one codec packs like k-lite or cccp, those are not needed anymore

A Q6600 should be able to play that no problem

She didn't: https://mobile.twitter.com/LaurakBuzz/status/810833773734543360

Anyway I still think it's going to be at tegra x1 tegra level of power, the rumor said it's going to be underclocked so like 400 gigaflops, if this is true I hope it is cheap, anyway I don't need a 3ds successor if that rumor is true, but eurogamer was the first one to write about the nx it's going to be a tablet with detachable controllers back in July

Try to watch a x265 movie on your Q6600, just, do it x).
Just saying that there is no WAY a GPU @307mhz can do a better job than a WiiU's who have a 550mhz one AND struggle to do a 30fps stable Zelda, got my point ?

edit: the point on the Q6600 is that it can't even play a x265 movie, so, thats realllyyyy out of context here xD, and BTW there is no desktop 2.4ghz i5 also, i do have a Q6600 for my livingroom PC, i love that proc :D

I used to run my Q6600 at around 2.8ghz overclocked...my i5 right now is at 2.7ghz without OC. I never tried x265 format, I barely use x264 as it stands - my monitors are not even that good of quality to bother.

point is that the i5 will perform better than the Q6600 and the clock speed is almost the same. clock speed does not mean better in this day in technology. long time ago clock speed was king.

the switch might have lower clock speed but perform as well or better than the wii u.

I Would agree if the speed would be around the WiiUs one, like 450 or what, but 307 is not a realiable speed for a GPU who need to handle today shaders, to compare with a VERY close hardware, a Tegra X1 have an aprox. speed of 1Ghz for the GPU, we all know how she handle stuff pretty great but how it's limited now, we all saw the unreal engine 4 benchmark on it, it need a little more power to be flawless, then i really doubt about a downgraded X1 can handle "console games" wich are wide AF, like Zelda, because, IF it's really a tegra X1 downclocked @7xxmhz and down do 307mhz when portable, we are fucked aknoledging what we do know about the power of the tegra X1... it's gonna be the same power than a WiiU, just like 10-15% more powerfull.
