So, I'm a total noob to this, I created this account just to ask this question and I'm really sorry to bother you, but I have a problem with the channel version. When I boot it, I just get a black screen. Is it because I don't use redNAND?
What are the advantages and the disadvantages anyway?
you get black screen because your signature checks aren't patched so you either need to run the fw.img from the hbl to be able to run it or use rednand , there is no real advantage between this and haxchi if you have haxchi installed in your sysnand , they're basically the same, haxchi is even more useful to sysnand users , this is more useful for rednand users because the sig-checks are disabled naturally.

So you're saying that if I have Haxchii (and I have it), I don't get any advantage... ok, thanks a lot, so now if I want to remove it from my WiiU home screen I can just uninstall it like a normal WiiU game or do I have to do something special?

If you have haxchi, you get a huge advantage, booting the HBL and redNAND from boot, or going straight into a sigpatcher!

I would suggest you leave it there , if you ever decided to get rednand , it should come in handy. or you can remove it from system menu , data management.

Ok, I'm leaving it there and, maybe when I'll understand a bit more about all of this, I will do something with it! :D Thanks a lot!

If the reason you have the HBL for is.... obtaining games, (most people just saw it could do that and jumped on it) haxchi can be used to autoboot a signature patcher, which can allow you to install any game, vc title, or DLC.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

its basically the same as using haxchi with the rpx version of hbl but it requires you to run sigpatchs...
We..we are talking about haxchi...

It requires a DS VC game (the list is on the github but you can use Brain Age, Mario Kart, NSMB, etc.) to be purchased and installed to your system memory. Then, you put the necessary install files onto your SD card, run the internet browser to get homebrew loader launched, then just follow the directions to install haxchi, which then replaces the DS game with the hombrew loader right there on the system menu. Pretty easy, and a no brainer as long as you are alright purchasing a DS game for the more convenient hombrew access.

Wait, so you're telling me there's a permanent homebrew channel???

The installable channel version doesn't seem to work with the "sigpatcher2sysmenu" app.

Does anyone know if it works with coldboot haxchi?

It doesn't. Crap! Is it possible to have multiple haxchi installed (one coldboot, one for haxchi/HBL)?

You probably could, though you can program a single haxchi install to run multiple titles, with certain keypresses at boot.
There is a file installed with coldboothax called "config.txt" in which it's content looks something like this:
Code:
l=/wiiu/cfw/sysnand/fw.img
r=/wiiu/cfw/rednand/fw.img
a=/wiiu/apps/spacegame/space.elf
b=/wiiu/apps/pacman/pacman.elf
default=/wiiu/apps/homebrew_launcher/homebrew_launcher.elf
This configuration file means that:
  • If the L button is being held as haxchi launches, it will boot into the sysNAND signature patch CFW on my SD Card
  • If the R button is being held, it will boot into the redNAND CFW
  • If the A button is held, Space Game will launch
  • If the B button is held, Pacman will launch
  • If none of the above buttons are being held, HBL will open.
See the official documentation for more details.

Friend having a odd problem, maybe someone of you could help me figure out the issue?

So, my friend bought a new SD Card, set it up with the homebrew launcher, wup and a few emulators.
When she tries to close the homebrew launcher again (with home)
the mii maker starts, which is normal, however, when she touches the "exit" option, the homebrew launcher just pops up again.

Any reason for that?

I get a black screen in RedNand. I use dimoks Mocha to get into RedNand, I installed the channel with Wupinstaller to Systemmemory (in Rednand!! So it should be installed to the hidden partition of the SD Card) Icon shows up, but when I start it I just get a black screen and a frozen Wii U.

Edit:
Now it works flawless. I didn't change anything odd thing.
