I recently got a PS4 less than a week ago. I'm still confused about what I should do to be able to keep already downloaded games from the previous owner.

Is there a confirmed way I will lose the games, say if the previous owner changes password to the account used to purchase the games on the eshop?

Although I heard I will be safe as long as I never log back into that account, I am not quite clear how this whole thing works. If someone has any experience with this, please let me know!

Basically, if they set another PS4 as the primary system (primary doesn't require the PSN ID to be logged in, secondary+ require PSN to be logged in with the account that has access), the next time you connect to the internet it will flag the games and they will not be launchable at that point.

Ah. What if i never log back into the previous owners account again? Someone said i would be safe as long as i don't use the account. Is this true?

This is what I've been told:

5. If the user who owns the account that came with the PS4 has no further intent to use this account on other PS4's then you can be sure that you can use both accounts with out problems, the issue is that if they want to connect or use their account on another PS4, they might request/unlink the account (that has the games) to be able to use it on another PS4, the problem with this is that if they do this, and you log into their account, you might be requested to enter the password and thus locking you out of using these 5 free games. Since we do not know if the person who owns thisaccount will ever do this, I recommend that you never log back into their account, and simply just play their free games on your own account, thus if they ever unlink/lock their account out, you will never be locked out of the free 5 games, since younever used orlogged back into their account. Just to be safe.

You don't need to be logged into the system for them to retract access. It's not that hard for the system to check in and see that the associated PSN ID that's on the system has been revoked.

Does this mean the only way to ensure the games not to be locked out is by never connecting to the Internet? Is there a way online on pc to check if the access has revoked beforehand if there are any cases i would need to use the Internet?

Rumors of firmware exploit come Christmas...up to you.
Oh, I'll be staying on that firmware then.

I just got the PS4 less than a week ago. Mainly bought it because it was a cheap $100 buy from one of my dad's friend which I found out includes 2 controllers and a witcher 3 physical copy. I also found out there was Devil May Cry 4, DMC Definitive Edition, SAO Hollow Fragment, and Ultra Street Fighter (Which was sadly not downloaded, and cannot download unless I update) as digital copies.

I bought the system solely for waiting for an exploit (even if it will take a very very long time probably), not expecting to get these games either, so these games can last me awhile. This is my first home console since Wii, coming from PC gaming as main.

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.

Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
