Homebrew The Wii U Homebrew Request Thread

I would love it if the wiiu became..... more accessible... to hacking. I mean like, without giant requirements. like how the wii you only needed a exploitable game or (web browser) and not needing a game to run the hack. (for example) you cannot do anything with sysnand or very little without cfw loader, and that requires a ton, for me I only have 32 gb sds, and I need a 64 sd, which of course frustrates me. now of course you guys will be bound to polish it and maybe that was already on the list.
The requirements are basically the same really. A 512 MB SD card would allow you to run homebrew, Wii U retail backups, VC titles, eShop only, and out of region titles. You can do a ton without cfw booter. You need to boot CFW for VC titles, eShop only, DLC, and out of region titles. The 64 GB requirement is for using redNAND which is pretty close to pointless if you're just trying to install and run homebrew and backups. Being able to use System Config Tool is nice but I don't think it's worth the 32 GB requirement or the hassle of dealing with two different NANDs. The only thing you couldn't do with a 512 MB SD card is install titles larger than 500 MB.

You don't need to solder anything and anyone who can operate a computer can install and run homebrew/backups. There will be some improvements, but I can't see how it could get much more accessible.

ok, I may have miss phrased that. Things the wii could do vs wiiu

wii, install wads files, forwarders directly to the menu ect.
homebrew channel accessible with or without internet connection. to the get the best out of it having a usb a sd should be fine, everything works fine with 512 MB SD
customfirm is easy no huge requirements
modding is as easy as baking a cake

wiiu
cannot have a homebrew channel (or at least yet) without needing a game on the system (like a vc ds)
and if you don't have that you need to connect to the internet everytime
forwarders haven't been quite made (i'd imagine someone is already working on that)
custom channels ect, require cfw loader, which also requires double sized sd card of your space. (my wiiu is 32gb so I need a 64 gb.) cannot mod vwii to install wuphax without cfw loader, cannot install eshop games (im just listing it as a point to show limits, this is not meaning I pirate, since I know there's going to people where are going to flip) aka wuds
cannot have a custom menu, of course its not yet, wiiu hacking is still very new..... I hope
wiiu relies on a method that isn't 100% conventional, at the moment, again. when the huge hack truly gets released it probly won't have this annoying space issue. aka double the amount of storage for softmodding. BUT I DO UNDERSTAND THAT THE WIIU IS NEW SO OF COURSE THERE ISN"T GOING TO BE THAT MUCH. sorry I need to repeat myself if I don't people or going to try to me a smart alc with me. but what would be cool, is for the wiiu gamepad to be used in vwii mode. that would be application I would like to see. or add the gamecube adapter to work with vc games. that would be equally cool. (nintendo really missed that opportunity there, seriously you made that thing for only smash 4, not even brawl, come on.)

this is what I should of originally said, I was working on two forms at the same time i got confused

I understand. I'm sure those things will improve, but even if they stay the same I'm totally fine with that. I don't use the Wii U web browser for browsing so I have loadiine.ovh set as my start page and I have automation enabled on loadiine so starting the homebrew launcher is just one tap. Having a homebrew channel title would be neat but wouldn't fundamentally change anything for me. Again, you don't need a 64 GB SD card to take full advantage of Wii homebrew/playing backups. You do need to boot CFW but only redNAND requires 32 GB (for 32 GB Wii U) and redNAND serves almost no purpose for somebody who just wants to run homebrew and backups. Yeah, I have to use CFW booter every time I boot the console if I want to be able to launch all the titles on the menu. Power on the console > tap browser icon > wait 7 secs > tap CFW booter, tap load > wait 10 seconds > fully sigpatched and ready to install/launch anything. What a nightmare! Also you no longer need to boot custom firmware for wuphax. He made a version 1.1 which just requires launching a homebrew app and pressing the A button. I'm being kind of a d___ but I really don't get it. Having to tap the screen a couple of times and wait a few seconds every time you power the console on is really not something to complain about.

You must be really good at baking cakes. I can barely manage banana bread.

I would love to see a Pokémon Uranium port. Undertale would be nice too since I don't have steam and thus haven't played it.

I would love if the Wii U could be used as a Steam Link-esque device, or to be able to use the Gamepad as a XInput device on Windows.

I would really love a media player (like VLC player) for Wii U so I can run movies off USB. Is this realistic and would anyone be interested in developing it?

Suprisingly, after years of "meh", two people suddenly want to work on media players.

As usual, remember that this is just the small talk on IRC and may not happen, but people are interested.

I'm surprised this isn't already added to the list, but:
An AM2R port.
C'mon, Undertale is in the list, but not this?
How???!

Idia: Allow the Wii U mode Home button to be pressed in vWii mode and in Wii games!
Remember when you press the Home Button during a Wii U game gives you the ability to make a screenshot?
That's right!

That would be awesome for vWii games!

Emulators I would love to see on the Wii-U is like Colecovision and Intelivision and Atari 5200.

The Wii-U is honestly the first console that can emulate them properly...

With the Gamepad you can finally display those overlay cards on the keypads of the games. I am not sure how hard it would be to find those scans online?

Some of those games are near unplayable with out those cards. (A 2600 game also had a keypad, Star Raiders and it was awesome... ) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Raiders

Anyway those emulators would be cool and the nostalgia overload would be intense lol (I have played all those old systems back in the 80's and loved them all for different games.)

Edit:

Like here is some from the Colecovision,

Just a Google Image search for Intellivision Overlays, brings back so many memories. lol

Not possible. When you open a Wii game, the console reboots into its vWii mode, in which all traces of Wii U-only software are inaccessible. The Wii U's HOME menu is not available because it is not a part of the vWii OS.

Screenshots in vWii are a good idea though.
