Complete guide to brazilian exploit method on 5.5.1

Complete guide to brazilian exploit method on 5.5.1

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER:

Gbatemp community or me IS NOT responsible if you BRICK your console or EVEN if you are banned. We still don't know if Nintendo will ban consoles playing unpaid games online.

You will need a dumped tickets, and there will be no link here for that. The game you want to install has to be available on the eshop too.

Introduction

Purpose:

This tutorial will teach you how to use brazilian exploit and how to update your games to go Online, FROM SCRATCH AND FOR NEWBIES.

Another, more exhaustive and more complicated tutorial exists >> here << made by @BurningDesire, many thanks to him. His tutorial covers steps I), II) and III). The goal here is to have a total noob friendly tutorial that we can use from scratch and that will bring you to a full updated game on your wiiU that you can play Online.

If you have errors, you may want to look that link!

Requirements:

1) A Wii U (on 5.5.1)

2) A SD card (I recommend 32GB if you want to install heavy sized games)

3) A way to load homebrew (connected to the internet or self-hosted ways)

4) A SD card reader on your computer

5) A Windows computer (sorry for Linux/MacOs guys)

6) I highly recommend to have Tubehax setup before beginning this guide (check definitive guide to wiiU hacking for that in "GETTING TO (AND STAYING ON) AN EXPLOITABLE FIRMWARE">>"How do I block updates?">>"Set up TubeHax DNS on your Wii U")

7) A lot of patience

Downloads:

1) Archive with content for your SDcard

2) Archive with content for you windows PC

Where to start:

If you never launched any homebrew launcher on your wii U go to step I).

If you ever have launched homebrew launcher via the Illuminati thing skip step II).

If you already have the homebrew launcher with wupinstaller and wupinstaller y mod ready, go to step III).

I) Prepare your SD card with wupinstaller, wupinstaller y mod and other apps.

1) Format your SDcard:

/!\ You will lose all data on that drive so BE CAREFUL with that.

a) Find guiformat.exe in Brexploit_win_app/fat32format/ in the archive and unpack it wherever you want.

b) Double click "guiformat.exe", and select the letter of your SDcard.

c) The allocation unit size should be 32768, let it like that, then click "Start".
2) Put the "wiiu" folder inside the archive at the root of your sdcard.

II) Prepare you wiiu to have a 100% working homebrew launcher.

1) Put your SDcard inside you wiiU

2) Go to "loadiine.ovh" with your WiiU internet browser and select "Homebrew Launcher Illuminati" if it hasn't been done before.

3) Wait for those fancy screens.

4) When you have the "Home Menu" coming back, click "Internet Browser".

5) Go back to "loadiine.ovh" and select "Homebrew Launcher 1.2 RC3" and click "Submit" to test if your homebrew launcher is working.

NOTE: You should see "wupinstaller", "wupinstaller y mod" and other apps, if it's not the case go back to step I).

III) Prepare your SDcard to install games on your wii U.

1) Unpack the Windows archive.

2) Get your ticket file.

/!\ Make sure the ticket file is one of your WiiU's region OR YOU WILL BRICK.

3) Drag and drop your ticket file on uTikDownloadHelper.exe that you can find into the "Brexploit_win_app\uTikDownloadHelper\" folder of the unpacked archive.

NOTE: It will ask you for a folder where it will put the full game, name that folder Game_whateveryouwant".

4) Put that folder into SD:\install\

NOTE: You can put multiple games like that by repeating steps from III.2) to III.4).

Bonus) setting up your hard drive (optional).

1) Boot your WiiU.

2) Plug your HDD on WiiU's USB port(s) (may require a Y cable).

/!\ It will ask you if you want to format your HDD, all your data will be lost, so be careful with that, there is no way to partition a WiiU HDD for now.

3) Click "Format".

IV) Install your games on your wiiU or HDD.

1) Go to "loadiine.ovh" with your WiiU internet browser and select "Homebrew Launcher 1.2 RC3" then click "Submit".

2) Click "wupinstaller y mod" and then "Load".

3) Select which game you want to install with the DPAD then push X to install it on your hard drive or A to install it your console.

4) Wait and be patient, do not turn off your console, go grab a drink.

5) Your game is installed, you still need to update it to go online.

V) Prepare your SDcard to update your games.

NOTE: I don't know if you can use "wupinstaller y mod" to do that, so I still use the old method where you can only put one update at the same time on your SDcard.

1) Go into the "Brexploit_win_app/NEW-NUSGrabberGUI/" folder.

2) Start NEW-NUSGrabberGUI by double clicking "NEW-NUSGrabberGUI.exe".

3) Go to "Settings" at the bottom left and choose your console's region.

/!\ Remember, if you install something of another region YOU WILL BRICK.

4) Click "Download".

NOTE: You should have a new folder named with a Hexadecimal numbers.

5) Empty your SD:\install folder

6) Put what you have INSIDE the hex folder into your SD:\install folder which has to be empty first.

VI) Update your game.

1) Put back your SD card in your WiiU.

2) Go to "loadiine.ovh" with your WiiU internet browser and select "Homebrew Launcher 1.2 RC3" then click "Submit".

3) Click "wupinstaller" and then "Load".

4) Push X to install it on your hard drive or A to install it your console.

5) Wait and be patient, do not turn off your console, go grab a drink.

6) Your game is updated.

7) Enjoy.

NOTE: to update all your games, repeat step V and VI.

just checked the wup instally y mod's source,

it is very possible to make a safewupinstaller y mod.
whereas it checks if the region matches.
didn't research enough (how I might read the console region) //(but that may be on that red screen where the title keys are flashed idk) anyway.

what I understand just by reading it, it is very possible.

I've done everything correct, I've used multiple USB drives, multiple SD cards, and 6 different games and EVERY time it fails at anywhere from 0% to 9% depending on the size of the game. Most games fail at 2%.
I get the same error everytime. It goes back to the menu saying its a bad SD card. After buying a brand new SD Card I doubt it'll be faulty.
brand new SD card fails, old SD card fails, freshly formatted SD card fails. NONE let it install.

WHAT THE F!!!! IS GOING ON!!!????
This is the first time i've had such a hard time installing backups. I can run backups on just about every device without problems so why the headaches here?

Can someone help me out and tell me why?
I got the correct tickets, I've downloaded a ticket pack from that iso site, I also have the windows app which downloads games and tickets in 1 bundle and even that download fails.
I've downloaded the same game multiple times from multiple locations. I've edited the ticket manually and automatically and downloaded tickets and nothing I do works.

I'm no noob. I ask for help as after 2 weeks or so I cant work it out???

What's the sector size? Did you format properly like in the guide?
Exact same app, I download it from the guide, formatted it just like it says.
I even tried a brand new SD card I brought today. Still gives same error.

Just tried Minecraft, as its so small it got to 51% then errored out.
Same error. Just downloaded it fresh, never tried to install that one before.

exact same error, doesn't matter the game or SD card I always get that error.
Doesnt matter if I use X or A to install, same error at the same spot.

It's already safe, it prevent users to install system titles.

if you are talking about the "you will brick if you install a game from another region" in the tutorial, this is completely wrong.
You will NOT brick.

the game will just not run because the WiiU menu will check the meta.xml and detects it's not the correct region, it will display a message telling you it's not the correct region.
that's all.
no brick, no risk, no safe installer needed.

I haven't read enough about redNAND to answer you correctly, sorry.

I know the (leaked) version from Oct 27th wasn't stable enough.
The new version from Oct 30th should be stable. I don't know more yet, I'm still reading and catching with all the threads :P

One thing I'm certain : don't update redNAND or it will brick your sysNAND. (there's a SEEPROM check)
well, that's fine for the moment, there's no update > 5.5.1

users are talking about unlinking their sysNAND and redNAND, but I don't know the purpose or causes yet.

Same, i haven't read much abt this as well,

I assume if we dump our own nand for the cfw booter it will be linked, however if qe use thosw img files, they will not be. Since the imgs are from elsewhere.

Is unlinking just as easy as the 3ds?
I think it is only a matter of time to have a fully blocked update feature and or protect those areas as security.

The image files are cfw, not nand backups. No matter where you get your fw.img - it will have no bearing on the linked state of your nand and emunand.

Unlinking is just as easy as on the 3ds. Just format sysnand (formatting emunand will brick emunand, don't do it).

what I've read is that formating sysNAND is used to prevent sysNAND from seeing the games you installed on your USB while in redNAND.

When you format the NAND, it generates a different encryption key, making previously used USB incompatible.
the things you installed on USB linked to redNAND (they share the same keys) will now not interfere your your sysNAND.

I'm not quite sure why you wouldn't want your sysNAND to not see the games installed on USB. Maybe to prevent sysNAND trying to access bad-signed games installed using redNAND sig-path feature?
That will maybe break sysNAND if it detects games with a wrong signature on a non-sig-patched environment?

That's the first thing which comes to mind. Maybe there are other reasons to unlink sys and red.
