I just got a psp go a couple days ago for $40 CAD as a replacement for my dying 3000, is that any good of a deal? It also came with the official cable by Sony.

I was looking for a psp for a while, I was thinking of getting a vita, but they are all $150 or higher on kijiji/craigslist used, and at that price i might as well of bought a new one.
A few couple of weeks ago there were tons of idu ps vitas for only 65$, badluck mate

$40 is about the going rate in my neck of the woods (Peterborough, ON), I picked one up for $25 about a year ago but I think the guy at the hock shop didn't actually know what it was. Stores that don't have someone savvy about CFW think the thing is essentially useless without an M2 micro, which few Go owners bother to buy. It's a beautifully made and versatile system, although I'd pick my 2001 over it in most situations. Teamed with the charging dock and component cable it's actually a better micro-console than PSTV in many ways, though that gap is closing fast since HENkaku.

You can get re-furbed Vitas on eBay for less than $75.

Is it possible to play all PSP backups on Vita now ? And one more question, can you play PSP games online with pro cfw thru 3G Vita ?

It has been possible to play PSP games on certain Vita firmwares using the built in PSP emulator for sometime, that functionality was lost as of OFW 3.55 I think.

As for playing online over 3G, I don't know if that was ever supported even for Vita games, and all the PSP game servers are now shut down.

The Vita is not the best way to play PSP games anyway, they don't look great on the bigger screen because they are scaled to match the Vita's resolution. Just buy a used 2000 series PSP, perma-hack it and play every PSP game ever - you should still be able to play multiplayer games ad-hoc (PSP to PSP) if you have friends with PSPs.

I got a lot of PSPs I wanted to know what my advantages would be having a Vita but just as I guess there wont be much, having 2 analog on the go and amoled 5 inch sound good but in reality things are different. I knew about that scaling issue, which is very disappointing. And seems like new hack doesnt help to play all PSP backups.

Mate of course Vita's 3G support to play Vita games online, what else reason would it be there otherwise, internet surfing or youtube ? And also as I mentioned I wanted to know if its possible to play online thru pro cfw, I know PSP servers are offline for a long time but people are playing online over coldbird's servers even today.

As long as device can connect to internet there shouldnt be a problem but PSP games are totally a different platform for Vita, maybe they cant see the online status.

Seems like even today after its 12th year still having a PSP has more advantages over a Vita. In my opinion Vita will be attractive if backups will be available to play frrom a wireless memory stick, keeping backups on a micro SD would revive Vita with large capacities. I hate Vita's overpriced cards since it has wireless N technology people can profit from it :)

Yes, believe it or not, that's the main reason for the 3G option on Vita, surfing, email, maybe Skype. The only gaming support is for turn based games and high score sharing.

That was something I didnt know before, Sony must be drunk the night they planned the Vita. PSP got more than 5 Tomb Rider, Star Wars, Monster Hunter, a couple of GTA, God of War, Silent Hill, Persona and many other titles which Vita lack and this connectivity bullshit I just learned. After PSP, Vita is like a nightmare.

That's not up to sony for the release of those series on the ps vita. That's mainly for the companies that develop those games to release them for the ps vita.

Also star wars, god of war, silent hill, and persona all have games for the ps vita.

Yeah either PSP releases or PS2. Whenever there is a discussion about the lack of Vita games people list the PSP games that run on Vita. There is one Persona game which I must correct my statement however PSP can run former 3 games. I dont count Silent Hill as a proper SH game, Im a fan of series and I would find the hardware from someone if it would interest but nope. There isnt a GoW title for Vita, collection is just a port, PSP had 2 unique GoW games.

Just because most people dont know about it and PSP-go's legendary "dont buy it" motto, last summer I bought N-270 for 5 $. Store owner said "its there for ages I didnt sell any PSP-go accessory pay something and its yours" I use it with my Note 2 and play PSP games on TV with DS3 and bluetooth headset.

so, psp go can't use a DS3 controller nativaly, must be through custom firmware?

You dont necessarily need a ps3, you can use your pc to pair PSP-go and ds3 too but you need a software, google it.

You got a good chance of buying a used one and asking the seller how often they used or even ask for a Pic of fw and telling them not to update

Speaking of PLaystation. I see Evilnat put out a beta for PS3 CFW 4.91.2 on the 22nd.

Don't really see the point in updating it tbh

Yea you right, I thought about updating my PS3 CFW to 4.91, but why really, everything plays fine now. I guess for people that have already updated past 4.9 it would be helpful.

Thats true, personally I don't play it online at all, in fact, I deleted all wifi details on it once I installed CFW, so it won't connect and auto-update itself
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I play most games that are on both PS3/360 strickly on the 360, but PS3 exclusives are really only games I play on the PS3 (You know me, I'm more of a Xbox junkie)
