How to Link a VPN to PS3

THERE IS NO WAY CURRENTLY TO DO THIS WITHOUT A PC/LAPTOP! DON'T ASK!
If you clicked on this thread then you want a vpn for privacy, ddos protection, or for your other reasons. Hope this comes to use for you. This does NOT require a CFW, but can be done on both CFW and OFW. This tutorial is for Windows 10 (Not sure if this works on 7/8 with these steps). Also please note that some VPN do not work or just disconnect when connected to PS3, if this happens then try to re-connect or use a different VPN.

Requirements>------

LAN Cable (Ethernet)
WiFi
PS3 OFW/CFW
PC/Laptop With Ethernet Port
Windows 10 (?7/8)
VPN
If you don't have a VPN I will recommend PIA (Paid), CyberGhost (Free), and Hotspot Shield (Free).
Free VPN will tend to be slower and have no DDoS protection, but will still do the job. Also feel free to make VPN recommendations in chat.

Steps>------

1. Turn on VPN.
2. Connect your PC to your PS3 with the LAN cable.
3. On PC go to Network and Sharing Center (Right Click on WiFi Button).
4. On the left side go to Change Adapter Settings.
5. Find your VPN adapter.
6. Right click on the adapter. Click Properties, then sharing, and click Allow other network used to connect through the computer's Internet connection. Click apply or ok depending on the OS.
7. Go to your PS3 and click on Network Settings, Internet Connection Settings, Easy, make sure ip address says Automatic then click Enter and test connection.
8. Check the Settings and Connection Status List and double check the IP to confirm it's not your IP address.
9. Great! You have successfully used a VPN on your PS3! Every time you play PS3 you will have to turn on your PC/Laptop and use the VPN. If you don't want to use it for any reason then just disconnect the LAN and connect to your WiFi normally. Hope this helped and have fun trash talking and not getting DDoS'd! ^_^

(Also note this does decrease the speed of your connection and may also lower bandwidth)

Is there a way to establish a VPN connection via WIFI? I don't want to turn on my PC to watch Crunchyroll US since I can do this on my computer if it's running anyway.

thanks, man, i'm testing right now guide, and i 've got a a theory: do u get same result if u trying to set all VPN connection through ur ps4 without PC?

No. VPN do not official support PS OS and Sony is not gonna support VPN this is one of the only ways. This guide may work on a PS4. In fact probably will. I will not repeat myself there is NO way to do this without a PC or LAPTOP.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
