RiiConnect24 have been hard at work creating a News Channel that works (since September 2015!), and they are happy to announce that a beta version now exists. One can access it via their regular Wii; they merely require the RiiConnect24 DNS of 185.82.21.64 and the custom IOS31 from them.

The custom IOS31 is merely required, as the original WiiConnect24 key couldn't be used (unless someone here can extract it from Nintendo ), and we'd rather set our own key rather than make a custom channel, with all the issues that entailed. Other than that and the DNS, it runs the exact same way as the original News Channel

They have noted that sometimes stories could have incorrect formatting, and some errors on file load (the files are made hourly so if it breaks check again in an hour), and does not have globe location or imagery yet, but these are merely teething problems.

We've talked about having another Channel for hacking and gaming news but it wouldn't be in the RiiConnect24 but instead in another channel.

I actually really liked the news channel on the wii. But at the time I was too young and did not have enough money to buy the wii, so I only got about a year out of it before the online closed down. Though ofc I didn't read the news that often before I really liked the channel for some reason. When I got my wii I wasn't really interested in it anymore though but I would love to be able to just check on it again from time to time just as a bit of nostalgia. Also more into politicts then when I was like 10 so might actually be interested in the articles for a change hihi.

That's what I liked to sometimes do.

Some games used the Wii Forecast Channel (like if it's sunny, the weather in the game will be sunny).

With my wii set in Italian language and Italy as country i obtain an error when tryng to accept the Eula (even if the connection test is ok, code error 220320), if i set the console to UK and language english i can read and accept the Eula, but when i boot the channel i obtain the code error 117404.

What is wrong?

Only English is currently working; we require an Italian EULA for the EULA to not 404, and currently only English is supported in the News Channel
