it could be :
- Your game files are write protected. (though, I don't remember if it black screen or reset the console)
- your game is not the same region than your console and you didn't set the correct video mode option in the loader. Use the option "Video mode: Disc default" to always set the region based on the game's region.

it could be an issue with your ISO. Did you try other games to see if it's affecting all games (loader setting issue) or only Mario (mario settings issue or the ISO itself)?
keep the game's IOS to 249 or 250.

it just doesn't boot? no screen displayed or sound at all?

You have no cIOS installed at all. You should install d2x v8 (or v10) as IOS249[56] and IOS250[57]. (Just Dance and CoD games require 57)

Please don't hijack others' threads. WBFS is outdated and shouldn't be used anymore. Just use a single FAT32 partition with MBR partition scheme and you should be fine.

Hi guys, first of all sorry by my bad English... I Hope this i'll be undertandable. So, my Wii was with USB Loader (outdated USB L) working with IOS 249[56] d2xV7, ok.. I was playing just one game in my PenDrive, but when i add another this one did not load, it was showing in USB Loader menu but doesn't starts (it returns to HBC when i press to start) but the fisrt game continued working normally... I tried to fix that updating the USB Loader (to r1262 latest version) and some IOS (IOS 249 and 250 to d2xV8Final using ModMii HBC app) but now no one works... they are displayed in USBL menu but when click to start it return to HBC... I don't have idea of why its happening.. (obs.: my pendrive is in NTFS format... but that was working idk if it is a problem)...
Obs2.: How can i correct that IOS security errors? Idk if thah is a problem or not but some members SysCheck doesnt have this [Trucha Bug, ES Identify, NAND Access] ""failures""... idk if i can call it like a failure... so thats is..
Obs3.: This 2 games is in .wbfs format... thanks guys ^^

Can someone assist? I'm having two issues I think. My end goal would be to use USB Loader GX to launch/play my wii iso backups, my gamecube backups, my triforce roms, and my wiiware wads via nand emulation all from external hard drive formatted fat32. Currently I can both launch and play both gamecube backups and the triforce roms with USB Loader GX. The wii games on the external hard drive appear in USB Loader GX along side gamecube and triforce but when I load one it gives me an error message after the wii remote wrist strap screen: 'This file cannon be used because the data is corrupted. Delete the file and create a new one?' (message was from mario kart wii). A few games work but the majority give a variety of the same error message.

Background: This wii was modded by someone else 5 or 6 years ago. I have since used a few 2015 and 2016 guides off of gbanet to update. I also used a guide to change from wbfs to fat32 with a windows program so I can have a fat32 'wdfs' folder and a 'games' on the same partition. I assumed it was either the wdfs file names or a setting inside USB Loader GX because I can use the former modder's configurable USB loader v70r65 to launch my wii backups via ios222 with no problem. Also a wii backup that works and one that doesn't are both named .wdfs. I have not tried to redo them with wii backup manager yet. I was hoping someone could comb my USB Loader credits or system menu dump.

This may not be the right forum for the second issue but I thought I would ask if someone has the answer. Can proper settings in USB Loader GX get me to achieve nand emulation so I can install and load wads to external hard drive or do I need to go through all the steps to use Simple FileSystem Dumper 0.2 to put on NAND and then a wad installer to install?

hello and welcome here,

First, what you want can be done, everything on FAT32 works fine, so don't worry.
usually, when a wii game gives a system error message, it means the system file is corrupted or the game is not compatible with EmuNAND.
It could be caused by the EmuNAND option.

Maybe, seeing you want to launch WiiWare/VC from emuNAND, you enabled the emuNAND option for wii games too?
verify your setting, you should use this :

Settings > Loader Settings > EmuNAND Save : OFF
Settings > Loader Settings > EmuNAND Channel : Full

The first one is affecting Wii game disc only (not the wiiware or virtual consoles).
It's used to redirect the savegame to SD card.
if you use "partial" it will create and redirect the savegame file on SD.
if you use "full" it will attempte to redirect everything else, even read the files from that redirected path. If you didn't make a full NAND dump first, then the game will not find anything (IOS, settings, etc.)

see if you had this option enabled. just try with OFF.
tell me if it worked.

Thank you for the reply Cyan. I should have started off the previous email that I am new to wii modding but not new to modding scene. If this was CFW, RGH, or XBMC I could provide help. I went the lazy route in getting this done by a local modder to save time figuring it out. I had several scratched up game cube discs I was ready to chunk and I thought I would back them up and put them in storage. That led me to this USB Loader GX, changing old hard drive to fat32, updating wii CIOS's, and figuring this out.

I thought it was also a corrupt file but then every wii iso works in Configurable USB Loader that I get the same error messages in USB Loader GX. Gamecube, Triforce, and WAD's installed to console work fine launching from USB Loader GX. 95% of wii iso's give me an error message after launching from USB Loader GX after they load and get through the wii strap screen. Error messages differ but they basically mean the same thing. I'll load these same games in other USB loaders and they work fine. I also deleted my mario kart ISO and ripped it from disc which still didn't work. I took a 4GB ISO of that file and transferred it to hard drive via wii backup manager and that still didn't work. So I believe you are right that I think it is a setting. Is there a tutorial on setting up USB Loader GX? I just used the 'Dump NAND to EmuNand' in the 'Features' setting area and I'm playing around with these settings now but I'm not sure if there is an option to choose to dump to external versus SD. I assume I want external since that is where I have free space and I would like to eventually install WADs to.

I don't see those settings in the path you describe to try and test your above recommendation.
Settings > Loader Settings > ?
I don't see an EmuNAND option in the first group of settings or under 'GameCube Settings', 'DM(L) + Nintendont', 'DIOS MIOS (Lite)', 'Nintendont' or 'Devolution'.
In the first group of settings the following are my settings currently.

Video Mode: Disc Default
Dol Video Patch: Off
Sneek Video Patch: Off
VIDTV Patch: Off
Aspect Ratio: System Default
Game Language: Console Default
Patch Country Strings: Off
Ocarina: Off
Private Server: OFF
Loader's IOS: IOS 249
Game's IOS: IOS 249
Quick Boot: OFF
Block IOS Reload: OFF
Return To: OFF
Nand Saves Emulation: Full
Nand Chan. Emulation: Full
Hooktype: None
Wiird Debugger: OFF
Debugger Paused Start: OFF
Channel Launcher: Main DOL

Is it in the 'Features' setting?

After messing with the Dump NAND settings in features and changing the first setting below to match your suggested change (although worded differently) I am able to launch, load, and play wii backups through GX! Thanks Cyan. I also updated CIOS via modmii and sys Any advice or can you point me to good information that could show me what all the settings mean in GX and how to use USB to install WAD's?

Nand Saves Emulation: OFF
Nand Chan. Emulation: Full

Thanks

ahh, sorry, I didn't use the correct name. (I did it from memory)
NAND Emu, emuNAND, redirected NAND, they always have a different name but are doing the same thing :P

Glad you fixed your issue :)

As advices, I could tell you this:
1
Use correct game's titles
From the settings > update menu > Download latest Wiitdb (or gametdb, I don't remember the correct name).
Then go to Settings > Features > and enable the Title from Wiitdb option.

The games will now get their proper titles, instead of the one read from the internal ISO (sometime very strange titles, or code), or from the folder in your USB:/wbfs/<title>/
Only Okami will have an issue, as it's using a Ō and that letter is sorted after Latin's letters in the ASCII order, so the game will be listed at the bottom of your game list if you sort it alphabetically, and it will miss the first letter as it seems the default font doesn't have it. you can fix it by using a custom font. we can see this later.

your custom IOS could be changed for better compatibility.
Currently, you have this :
IOS249[56] (rev 21010, Info: d2x-v10beta52)
IOS250[57] (rev 21010, Info: d2x-v10beta53-alt)

it means your slot 249 contains a patched version of the official IOS56.
your slot 250 contains a patched version of the official IOS57.

Some games will work only with a custom IOS based on IOS57 (for example, call of duty, or Just dance 2016).
But IOS57 is slightly slower than 56, so users get used to install 56 by default (in slot249) and set only the incompatible games to use the base57 (slot 250).

Your slot+base are both fine this way.
what could be an issue is the version of the patches.
on slot249, you have d2x cIOS version 10 revision52 (good!)
on slot250, you have the latest revision (r53), but this one is not good.
r53 adds compatibility for 2 USB Port at the same time, but contains bugs with emuNAND and with few Wii games.
That's not a big issue in itself, as most Wiiware games will work fine with EmuNAND+base56 (using your slot249), but if you find a game you want to use on emuNAND which works only with base57, you can have issues due to have revision53 in that slot.

So, the recommendation is either :
- replace your slot 250 with d2x v10 r52 based on IOS57, and set slot250 only for call of duty/just dance.
OR
- replace your slot249 with r52 based on IOS57, and by default ALL games will work, you won't even notice it's slower than IOS56.

That's only a minor issue. you are not required to change it.
I only wanted to point that it "could" be an issue one day, so you know about it and can fix it if you want.

Another thing to know about emuNAND and Wiiware/virtual console: using "full" mode has about 80~90% compatibility.
Some game will work only by using a different NAND emulation mode called "neek".
Most affected games are N64 virtual console games, and few Wiiware (bonsai baber, Castelvania). you can find a list here.

So, you know there are games not working with "full", it's not a setting or a bad ISO. just check that list to see if you need NEEK or not.
neek is slower to boot and exit, it's an additional layer of NAND emulation. it's more like a full NAND redirection (you can compare it to redNAND on 3DS or WiiU)

You should update the 360 to newest dash before RGHing it yes. But not a big deal if you don't, you can install new dash/avatar updates after. It's just easier to do it auto online before, instead manual offline after.

@BigOnYa I wanted to ask you about your experience with seeing south park. Most of the people a bit younger like my younger brother and cousins that are a few younger than me that saw kids found south park funny because of the curse words, kids at school, that seemed like liking the show on a very basic level.

I could not quite have a in depth discussion of the show.

How was it for you? As an adult. What did you find the most interesting part about it. Did you relate to the parents of the kids and their situations. Was it satires, the commentary on society. The references on celebrities' and pop culture.

@BigOnYa there were relevant issues before south park was made, that's why i think a south park prequel/spinoff would be great. Randy and his friends in their child hood
