Hey sorry I never got around to beta testing this like I was supposed to, but I plan to check it out soon! Looks like amazing work!
No worries, hope you get time to check it out!

Hey folks, so I know I said I'd try to get an update out last night, but bugs/work/other stuff got in the way. I want to make sure you guys are getting the best experience, and that means having as few bugs as possible with every release. Gonna do some more work tonight and hopefully push out another update very soon. Since I've put in some characters that have extra special assets (you'll know who soon) I'm trying to make sure that all the glitches and bugs are ironed out.

Here's a list of some things that will be coming in the next update...

More new costumes! Almost all characters have at least one custom costume!
  • Panda Global Skins for MegaMan, Ryu, Sheik
  • Metal Mario (Dr. Mario)
  • Louie (Olimar and Alph)
  • Hatsune Miku Peach
  • Walugi (Captain Falcon)
  • Freakachu Mandorf (Pikachu Model over Ganon)
  • ...And more!
Bug fixes!
  • Since 20 songs per stage seems to be the limit at the moment, I've trimmed a few of the "less fitting songs" from a few stages, and moved a few to different stages as well. Don't worry! They'll be put back in as soon as the 20 song limit issue is fixed!
  • Metal Sonic doesn't freeze anymore
Other stuff!
  • Some character skins will get their own sound pack! This kind of mod is still relatively primitive, and may have some unintended side-effects. For example, if a skin uses custom sounds, and you play against another costume that doesn't use those sounds (Jigglypool vs Jigglypuff, for example) then one of the characters might not have certain sound effects.
I've also looked into including a few requested songs from folks on here and Twitter.

Guess what guys and gals? Version 1.0 is here! Sorry it took so long to get it ready!

Check out the OP for a complete list of all the character costumes and songs included with the mod pack. There's tons of new stuff, including the very highly requested Shadow the Hedgehog pack, and custom costumes for roughly 90% of the character roster. In total, this pack contains over 150 additional costumes and over 250 additional songs. Pretty awesome, right?

What's more, I've included a download link for a "Music Only" version for those of you who want to play without skins. It contains all of the music included in the normal pack, but none of the extra skins or CSS modifications. This makes it ideal for those who like to play online! The link for that will be right underneath the normal download link on Github. (Side note, I didn't actually get to test this last night so if there's an issue, let me know T_T I need more SD cards...)

With this release, I've fixed a lot of bugs and freezes that were in v0.9. That said, there are still some issues I'd like to point out in advance:
  • Due to the outrageous number of costumes, the CSS can take a bit (~30 seconds) to fully load the CSS. If you think all the character portraits disappeared, don't fret! Just wait a few seconds and they should load. Hopefully I can find a way to fix this in the near future!
  • The above issue can cause issues for online play, because characters take too long to load the CSPs (and you only get like 30 seconds to pick your character before a match) - if you're a diehard online player, I'd recommend downloading the "Music Only" pack.
  • Some characters have customs sound packs, which conflict with other characters in the same slot (Jigglypool vs Jigglypuff, Sonic vs Shadow) - there is a fix for this, but it's not something I can get to work on my current setup. I'll look into fixing as soon as I have time (and finish building my Windows desktop).
There may be other issues that I have not yet discovered, and I'll actively work towards ironing out all the wrinkles over time. In the meantime, if you find anything awful, just post here so I can look into fixing it!

I hope you guys enjoy v1.0! I've already started work on the first music add-on pack (it might be a while though, I've got a lot going on outside of my modding "hobby") but in the meantime, there's a lot to try out with this new version of the Googie Sm4sh Mod Pack!

Thought I'd mention that the file is named Sm4shModCollectionv.0.9.7z still. Is it the right file or did you just forget to update the link?

Just a heads up, if you go through the trouble of merging like that, you won't be able to keep your music when googie posts updates to his mod pack. Maybe you should wait for version 1.0

I was planning on manually adding the songs he has into my own pack. One by one, that's why I said it'd be a pain.

My SD card loads the CSS in just a few seconds like normal on my mod, and I have over 140 costumes. I don't think the sheer number is the issue. I didn't download your mod, but just pointing that out.

Huh. I wonder what's causing the long loading times then. This has been a top priority for me to figure out but I honestly have no idea what it could be...

Inbox me if you want a copy of my Sm4shExplorer Sound Config file. I meant to update the Github with that but I keep forgetting.

What type of SD card do you have? The class tells you what speed it can handle. I have class 10, so that would be faster than class 4.

Edit: I misunderstood the problem, so just ignore this post

Hello everyone! I'm relatively new to modding Smash 4 but I might of found the problem that is causing long loading times for me at least. By the way, I'm using an EU copy of Smash. Anyway I had the same issue before when the CSS would not load at all. I waited for it to load for over 30-60 mins and nothing happened. So I started digging into the modpack and I found that when I deleted the folders chrn_11, chrn_12, chrn_40 and chrn_41 it stopped the long loading times. My CSS would load straight away without any problems. I'm also a bit confused, when I used Smash Explorer on your unpacked modpack I didn't find any folders called chrn but instead there were folders named chm (chm_11, chm_12, chm_40, chm_41). I don't even know what these folders are suppose to do so I left them out for now. I will try renaming the files chrn to chm instead but I'm not sure if this will work.

Besides the problem with the CSS, most of your modpack works on my EU copy of Smash. There are few issues that I have to point out:
  • Modded Stages do not work - my screen goes black after choosing a character - my stage select screen does not appear (at the moment I deleted the stages folder but I will try to find a solution to this problem)
  • Meta_Knight skin c08 crashes the game

How did you get this working with your EU version? I really wanna play with this modpack but didnt think it was possible atm

Yeah, I had a lot of problems trying to get mods to work on my EU copy of Smash. If you want to I can give you my version of the modpack but the modded stages and the Meta_Knight skin c08 crashes the game. I will try to solve the problem with the modded stages shortly.

Edit: It's going to take a while to upload my version of the modpack. I will tell you when it's ready.

Thanks for looking into that, I'll test that right now. One thing tho... I don't have any modded stages... So I'm not sure why it's giving you a freeze at the SSS...

*EDIT* THANK YOU SO MUCH, YOU FIGURED OUT THE BIGGEST ISSUE I COULDN'T GET PAST!

Turns out, reverting those chrn folders fixed the issue with the janky load times on the CSS. Some characters still have a very slight delay (1 second or less) but overall it's MUCH better.

I'll be uploading an updated version of the mod pack tonight, that applies the fix.

Can't believe I forgot to link that song.

Also, even more great updates since I last checked, loving that Sylus and Metal Sonic.

I'm glad that I could help with your modpack. Also I don't mind helping you with making EU versions of future updates on the modpack. Again I feel like I'm repeating myself but I won't be able to continue uploading the EU of the modpack until my internet is fixed. Telstra decided to kill of my internet without telling me so they can upgrade my service. Originally they were coming over to fix my modem but they never came. So short story, I don't have internet but when it's back on I will continue uploading.

Hey folks, I've updated the mod pack. Only one small change, but it resolves the issue with the slow loading times at the CSS. This should fix the long load times when switching characters when the game first loads up the CSS, as well as make it a much smoother experience for when you want to play online.

Shoutout to @LordDakor for helping me figure out where the issue was with that.

Be sure to delete everything from inside the 0005000010144F00 folder before copying in the new files.
