I don't know what happened to America to turn it into such a Prudish nation. Games get censored, banned, and we are treated like children and some people here still defend this shit. If a swim suit is too hardcore for you then don't equip it?
Why is it Necessary to have stuff completely removed?

That's kind of a bad argument, especially considering said swimsuit is available right from the start of the game at the first merchant you have access to and you instantly get a preview when you put the cursor over it.

Why is it a bad argument? he has a good point. If something bothers you then dont use it, no reason to make everyone else suffer and more importantly waste someone's time to remove it at all.

It's not even removed, it literally just covers less skin and only on the 13 year old. Is having a swimsuit that's slightly less revealing for the underaged character really best described as "making everyone else suffer"?

Whether it was removed or covered up it doesnt take away the fact that it consumed time to deal with this "problem". Time that could of been spent doing something more productive rather than cater to a hypothetical audience that was never interested in the game to begin with.

You realize they are cartoons right? If you can't stand a swim suit in a video game then maybe you shouldn't be playing anything besides Mario. Like @RemixDeluxe said, time and money are wasted on this censorship, not only that
but Entire Games don't get localized because many companies can't afford the expense. All because some people like you can't withstand some pixels on the screen

What bothers me more is that the USA is the same country that is infested with parents that don't think twice about letting their child playing a 'mature' videogame, but will then blame the same game for their child being a dipshit reenacting the videogame, especially in the case of Grand Theft Auto.

On the flip-side, how long will it be before someone sues Nintendo because their child decided to go into an aquarium and jump on some turtles because Mario does it? How about eating a poisonous mushroom or flower hoping that they will grow or shoot fireballs from their hands? The last thing I want to see is a f***ing warning sign in a Virtual Console re-release of Super Mario Bros. saying not to imitate what is shown in this game.

There is no need for censorship at all in any videogame, this is why they developed the ratings to begin with.

Funny when people go to watch a movie, if they are easily offended, they just look at the movies rating and then decide whether to watch it. Video game ratings are meant to be used in the same way. It now seems their is no point in having the game rating scale, as no one even considers them, which in turn leads to censorship because of parents that are too dumb to look at the ratings when buying for their children.

These stupid parents kill it for the rest of us.

I think that the idea that applies in this situation is both that of game plot and cultural differences. The game is not meant to be a "rated M" type game, it's an action/adventure/fantasy game, not something like Saints Row where you dismember aliens with a giant dildo. The reason content is "censored" when it comes to the US from Japan (and I use heavy quotes when I say "censored" because in this case it is largely just skin being slightly more covered) is because the age of consent in Japan is significantly lower than it is in America, and they do not want to make a 13-year-old-girl "fappable" for that reason. Now, there are very stupid things, like the breast size adjustment slider, that should have been left in, but I think that for contextual (changing of acronym and slight translation changes) and legal reasons, Nintendo is almost completely justified in the localization IN THIS INDIVIDUAL CASE (there are some games where I will agree that the localization was dumb and unnecessary, this is not one of them.)

Now, what you SHOULD be complaining about is why Nintendo hasn't made their console natively region-free so that you can play the Japanese version, the way that you think it is meant to be played, and the one where the rating still makes sense for the country that it was optimized for.

I sure created a hell of a post didn't I? Sheesh. There's definitely a lot of good reasons to remove censorship and there's a few credible reasons not to.

I just figure that a game should be played in the exact way that the game designers themselves intended it to be played. Translation aside, censorship is just Bullshit for any country.

USA used to be good. FF7 had words in it that today would be censored out. WTF is this country coming to?

We haven't made any efforts to edit text when we did our undub, but I could take a look at the script format and write a little parser if you really want to do this.
Hi. I am interested in getting the Japanese version English Dubbed and English Texted. Did you make any progress?

That's a big necropost.
But I do have to throw my hat in this stupid ring of censorship. Censoring Lin Lee Koo's swimsuits is a load of crap. Actual 13 year old girls wear swimsuits far skimpier than what she ever donned. Breast slider removal? (Especially with the underlying code still supporting it) Also bull. You're supposed to be able to make Cross underage. In the unmodded censored version, if you want to play as an 8 year old girl (possibly due to being an 8 year old girl) you have to run around with implausibly sexual cleavage. Also, a lot of traditional Japanese regalia was stricken from the censored versions. Why not just be a smart localiser and explain how NLA is the only bastion of humanity on Mira and therefore has all kinds of cultural stuff?

Changing the BLADE acronym on the other hand made perfect localisation sense, I'll give NoA that at least. Both so that it makes sense in English and also to adhere to that whole "separation of church and state" thing the modern US has going.

It's almost as if localisation changes can sometimes work really well. After all, who really prefers the original Japanese storyline to the first Pokémon movie over the English version? I'm sure a few people do, but I'm not one of them.

It'd be nice if feminist types would stop trying to drive women and girls out of gaming by taking away their sexy power fantasies, so they can then turn around and claim that men are driving women out of gaming.

tl;dr? I just want to play the game uncensored, in English, with the English dub. If I wanted the Japanese dub, I'd learn Japanese, then play the Japanese version of the game. No matter what any weaboo says, I'll never see the sense in deliberately eschewing a language you understand in favour of one that you don't. Even Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid's horrifically feminist official English dub can be substituted for a fanmade English dub that actually gets Lucoa's character right.
