Ehh doesn't have to be any too extravagant. Something that makes ya feel nostalgic. Maybe with an ingame background and some of the sprites around the edges.

Nearly perfect. You have a white border on the left and bottom, can you get rid of that? Also I think it would nice if all edges would glow a bit moreYou got it!

I had to distort this one a bit by scaling with bicubic.
From Kirby's Dream Collection:
This one is also using bicubic downscaling, the pillars were using 456 as height.

Do you mean the sorta-raised edge to give it depth? If so, try the attached. If not, point it out to me cuz I can't see a white line in the visible area.
