You do not need a flasher for this tutorial however the previous only applies if your already on CFW if not then you will need one but im writing this tutorial with the assumption you already have Downgraded and are on CFW.

1. Google this "Rebug 999 Downgrader"

2. Download the 999 Downgrader

3. Once that's downloaded Make a folder on your USB Drive called PS3 then --> UPDATE now copy the 999 downgrader which should show up as 3.55.4 into the UPDATE folder so it should look like this whenever your done PS3-->UPDATE--->3.55.4 now rename the file to PS3UPDAT.PUP

4. Go over to your PS3 and go to Rebug Toolbox and enable Toggle qa

5. Now make sure you don't have any PS3 Discs in your PS3 and disable Networking for now

6. Go to System Update then put your USB Drive with the 999 Downgrader in the Right Slot on the PS3

7. Now select Update Via Storage Media

8. Your PS3 will now downgrade to 3.55 this is useful in case you ever want to install Otheros++ aka (Linux)
or if there is a specific homebrew you want to try that's only on 3.55

9. To upgrade back to the CFW that you were on just simply insert a USB Drive with your CFW i.e. Rogero 4.46

As i said this tutorial will only work for people who are already on CFW

You do NOT need Rebug 999 if you already have QA enabled. You can just install 3.55 CFW on top of it.

Rebug 999 is for those who didn't have QA enabled when they installed CFW (back before hackers found a way to enable QA on 4.x+). Even if you forgot you can just enable QA from Rebug toolbox and install 3.55 CFW. No need for Rebug 999 downgrader at all.

Never downgrade straight to OFW. You must downgrade to CFW and dehash first before installing OFW. And today there is very little reason to use 3.55. On top of my head the only reason to use 3.55 is to extract EID4 key.

You can use OtherOS on any Rebug CFW.

I thought that the whole point of the 999 downgrader was because you forgot to do that before upgrading and that it couldn't be done once you got a higher cfw. If you can toggle your QA flag while on 4.xx+ cfw then using the 999 downgrader is a waste of time. If you want to be consistent with yourself and make that guide worth itself, step 4 should go between step 8 and 9.

Also, whats up with "googling rebug"? Rebug website isn't doing any illegal distribution of copyrighted material and should be linked to give a safe source for the download and provide pertinent additional info on what the user is doing.

You no longer have to downgrade for this. Rebug 4.84 will extract it, switch to FSM, and marry the daughter board.
