Hacking DSi Ver 1.4.5U R4i Gold 3DS Error Occuring

I stupidly updated the firmware on my DSi to 1.4.5U, so I went to get the latest firmware for the R4i Gold 3DS(WOOD R4 V1.57) After updating it and testing it on my DSi, I got the error occurred, please turn off system, or whatever the typical message is. So I decided to test it on my 3DS (Ver 4.5.0-10U), but that didn't work either. Does anyone know what's wrong, and a solution to this? I also got the new patch for the current firmware of both the DSi and 3DS.

The patch will need to be run on a DS console that your flashcart works on.

Alright, thanks for the suggestion! I'll borrow my friend's DS lite tomorrow and see how that works out.

I tried it on my friend's DS, that didn't work. I did get rather than on my DSi or 3DS, it brings me to the screen saying R4i Gold starting up, but it doesn't go to the main menu. I tried that with the firmware only, and with the firmware and patch. Both gave me the same thing.
