1. Download the "Old Beta"-Files.
2. Extract it to your desktop.
3. Download the "New Beta Release"-File OR the "New"-Untested Beta-File. (common.pac)
4. Overwrite the common.pac of the "Old Beta"-Files with your in point 3 downloaded file.

5. Here a tutorial with pictures, i hope now that everybody will understand how to install the patch.

Btw: The patch format that is in this thread is not legal and if it would be my project I would care, but notify that you distribute portions of the game itself, which is as bad as distributing the iso itself in the eyes of the law.

Bottom line: There is an established standard for the form of patches, they are basically PPF or IPS Files. They are safer (because revertable) and legal.

the common.pac files are NOT.

The problem is not the patch, but the distributed form. It is easy to make it legal, why keep it illegal?
It is easy too and has only benefits.

Well i'm very new in translation, and i think One Piece will be the only project i work on.
I just LOVE One Piece so much, and i want that other people can enjoy the game good as they can.
When it's very easy to "wrap" the patch in another format, why he don't do it?
I will inform me how it works, if it's really that easy i will do it of course.

EDIT: Okay, now i'll give you the .PPF file to patch your .ISO, it is even simpler now, and you can undo the patch if you want.
You will only need one little program called "PPF-O-MATIC", i'll give you the download link from my dropbox too.
Just make sure before you patch that you have an Untouched ISO, if you patched your game and want to apply another one or another version, then undo the current patch and then patch it with the new one.
I'll upload the english patch aswell, so everything we done is legal now, i hope MrShyCity will do it the same way.

I don't know if it will be able to do it on its own (depends if the structure is similar in the files inside)
but if not I guess it won't be such a big problem to write it to do so.

I figured out the name length of common.pac archive, so trying to get it to read the names now.
But in any case it dumps the archives with right offsets and filenames, this is already kinda nice.

I kinda investigated the item files format and it seems that there is a bin file inside for every item, which is kinda weird since the text inside is not compressed or anything.
I'm sure it is for showing which description corresponds to which item.

With that being said, since the position where the filesize+the offset of the file is known, we could actually go overboard, insert zeroes as much as we want as long as we change the filesize and have more than enough space for everything. WELL IN THEORY ( I didn't try it yet)

That would be great... also have you check those values before & after the main text on COMMON_TEXT.PAC & COMMON_ITEMS.PAC?

XX is number of characters/letters

When the OFICIAL patch releases, bugs will cease to exist...right? At least, more of then

In every version of the patch right know, blackscreen bugs exist.
MrShyCity is doing the whole patch from the beginning to solve the bugs, and me is doing it the same way.

My tutorial was only for install the patch, not to solve the bugs.

it seems i did some how/somewhere on my previous patch made a mistake but
phew i finally manage to fix that black screen (without reducing the items name)
hmmm to sure can someone here let me borrow there savedata to those who are far ahead than Enies Lobby

Very nice MrShyCity, i have done everything from the beginning too.
Maybe you overwrote some HEXes or anything else, but good to know that its fixed.
Now we only need the Text length fix, so we can freely Name words how we want.

This is weird. COOKING KIT has a higher string length than RICE BALL.
It should be other way around.

Try and write instead of RICE BALL ONIGIRI and tell me if the blackscreen still occurs.
If not then I probably know why the black screens occur...
