I also have a question regarding emulator forwarding channels. I installed a NES and Super NES channel on my wii through Homebrew. I am trying to install an N64 channel using MMM but I am getting a -2001 error message when trying to install. I've been searching the web and most of the material regarding this error type seems to be very outdated and not applicable to what I am doing. I recently installed the same .wad on a friends Wii and it works perfectly. My Wii is 4.1 and I would really prefer not to upgrade if I don't need to as everything else I am trying to use the Wii for is currently working fine.

I can't remember what that error means, but have you tried upgrading to the latest d2x cIOS? You can use modmii to do this, then try installing the channel using the new cIOS.

Good day gentlemen! I have a challenge for you! ;)
I can't seem to load up my copies of monster hunter tri, klonoa and skyward sword from the usb loader gx. I don't know what the problem is really but some guy told me that I should update my softmod. I have softmodded my wii before but I don't remember really how I did it. I know that I used bannerbomb for installing the homebrew channel and the bootmii thing but that's about it. When it comes to all the ios's and cios's, I don't remember a damn thing! :( Guess I hit my head on a brick or something :P
Sooooo my question to you guys is: can I softmod my wii >>again<< even if it already is softmodded? :S
Or does someone have a better suggestion?
(wii is 4.3e, my homebrew channel is appareantley 1.1.0 and my usb loader gx is 3.0)

You need to install the latest cIOS.
Use modmii by xflak to get the needed files.

Hello! I need some help with my wii hacking

Long story short: I got really excited about speedrunning N64 Zelda games, bought a used wii from a gameshop dealer (can't contact the original wii owner), found out later that the wii was hacked (has homebrew channel, black ops, etc). Wii version is 4.3E, although I'm not sure if it was that before I accidentally updated the system after connecting the wii to internet (lol I had no idea what I was doing)

Anyhow, now I need to region change to US for NTSC N64 Games (faster gameplay). I've read through multiple guides but I find them very confusing and I am too afraid to follow them. I'm afraid that the hacking of the previous owner will affect my hacking somehow and I end up bricking my wii.

Is it safe to completely format the wii system memory so I can start hacking from the very beginning, or would that just make the situation worse?

Or should I just region change, download a wad manager and start playing the US WAD hoping I won't brick my wii?

Thanks for reading my wall of text & answering in advance <3

Good afternoon people. Noob Here with a quick question. After reading through the posts i can't find a definitive answer. When i first got my wii it was on software version 4.3u. I managed to successfully install The homebrew chanel using the letterbomb boot mii and i have all the right ios files to load games off a usb hard disk using cfg loader. All games work, even modern warfare 3 using ios 250. But I've came to a halt in my new found technical genius lol. Someone got my boy lego Batman 2 dc super heroes for Christmas, when he trys to play it its asking to update. I've declined them upto now as im unsure if it will mess up the homebrew channel and loose the ability to play games from the hdd. I'm now going to download the game anyway and use cfg but now he wants to put netflix on the wii and that needs an update too? So the question in a nutshell is: If i'm on 4.3u with homebrew and accept an update will i loose the homebrew channel? If i do update and loose it, what process (if any) will i need to do to restore it?

Thanks alot in advance.

Happy New Year!

1. google "d2x cIOS"
2. click on the link going to http://code.google.com/p/d2x-cios/
3. click on the download tab

latest version is v10
Congratulation, you found it yourself :)

You will see that there are 4 different versions...
2 versions for Wii
2 versions for WiiU's Virtual Wii
Do not mix up the console's target or you will have problems.

one version is "v10" and the other one if "v10-alternative".
What the differences between normal and alternative?
It's explained on the Wiki page

Hello guys, I'm here with a question about the latest Wii update...
So, I want to download the app to transfer my Wii data to my Wii U, and, after that is done, mod my old Wii.
The problem now is that it ask to update the Wii to download the app, but I'm worried I won't be able to mod
the Wii after that... Will my Wii still be moddable after I've updated it?

Yes you will still be able to mod your wii after the update. Just use ModMii after you do the update and transfer. Follow the ModMii directions and you will be good to go.

Thanks! I was worried I wouldn't be able to mod it... Ok, I'm gonna transfer the data, mod my Wii, and then make MY Brawl! And other stuff...
Thansk again! :yay:

Hello everyone. I figured I should post this here first instead of creating a new topic. My Wii is currently in who knows what kind of state because I let one of my friends do various modifications to it for me. I don't even completely know what's been installed to it. I'm looking to mod it fresh with the latest and greatest software. I performed the original installation of the Homebrew Channel on the console wayyyyy back with the Twilight Princess exploit and made a NAND backup. bootmii should also be installed to boot2 unless something has happened to it since then due to updating to System Menu 4.0 (although I've completely forgotten how to access it >_>).

If I'm able to restore the NAND (after backing up like...all my saves from the past 4 years), I'll have a really old 3.x 2006 launch Wii with an ancient version of the Homebrew Channel. Will continuing from this point be relatively straightforward?

Yes. Just download ModMii from this topic. http://gbatemp.net/threads/modmii-for-windows-official-support-topic.207126/
It installs onto your PC. Then start the wizard. Tell it you wii has never been modded and answer the questions it asks. It will generate a guide and download all the need files for you. Put those files and folders on the root of your SD card and go from there following the guide it created.

If you install the update it won't get rid of the homebrew channel is you have the latest version of the homebrew channel. it WILL, however, get rid of those cIOS you put on to play USB games.
What you can do is you can use ModMii for Windows to download everything you need to update just the important stuff and leave your softmod intact and it will generate a really easy custom guide to walk you through the installation of everything it downloaded (it's called the the syscheck log update wizard ... something like that.) One of the things it will have you install is PriiLoader which will make the Wii just skip checking for updates and block them if you accidentally try to install them yourself. They games will play just fine even with the updates blocked.

Hey guys, I've been trying to set up hacked Melee (super smash bros) on my wii, I have 4.3u. I keep getting to the point where I try to load games from my sd card or usb with neogamma or postloader, and the game is just not showing up at all. I don't know what I can do to fix it, any help or questions would be appreciated.

Hi all
Sorry for this noob question. I am sure its been said a few times but I couldn't find the answer.
My friend has just brought a brand new wii (in mario kart pack) and he wants to soft mod it.
I been reading here to install Modmii and follow everything from there.

Just a couple of quick questions.
1)Will he be able to play his 'backed up Dvds' I am under the impression only a WBFS formatted hard drive will work with the very new wii's.
2) Basically he wants to play his backups of Skylanders and I believe they dont run properly from hard drive. Is this correct?
His 4year old kinda destroys Dvd's so much better to let them play with backups.

Thanks in advance

1) Don't bother with WBFS, stick with FAT32 or NTFS; will work with new Wiis.
2) I've not got Skylanders myself, but I believe this works from a HDD as long as the plate thing is plugged in to the other USB port. The game is useless without the plate.

This noob needs help, please! I hope this is the right thread!

I hacked my Wii (FW 4.3E --> LetterBomb, IOs, cIOs, Wad & Co.) three days ago by following various tutorials around the net (yes, I know, I'm noob!).
I was not able to run backups until two hours ago, but I have a big, unresolved and annoying problem... ^^"!!!
To be short: the graphics of my wii has got worse! It isn't fluid anymore, it's like there are bigger pixels on my monitor, the rendering is foggy, disturbed... I hope I've been clear enough! What should I do?

My syscheck:
sysCheck v2.1.0b18(MOD_LULZ) by Double_A and R2-D2199

This problem appears on games or on the Wii even without playing ? (system menu, settings, etc.)

If it's only when playing:
You have this problem with retail games from system menu, or only with backup loaders?

if it's only with backup loaders, which one are you using? Did you try another one?
Which version are you using?
Which custom IOS are you using in the backup loader? (usually, slot249 is used, but maybe you changed that)
