OK, nevermind, I resolved my problem. Downloaded the latest r51t2 version, and all is now working fine.
So either the solution was - r51t2 itself, or that the mighty plugin had not downloaded properly from the wii (as it was showing 0 bytes in plugins folder on my usb drive).
Maybe some instructions on how to use and where to put the mighty plugin would help, I just guessed.

Hi, everyone!

I'm curious if it's possible to sort CFG Loader's list of games that it shows? Like an option where you can only view Wii or GC games only?

I updated my CFG Usb Loader online so now I have 70v50. It still works great for Wii games but not on my GameCube for some reason. I don't know what else I should check too, since when I use USB Loader GX or DIOS Booter I can run the GC games just fine.

Also, does the new CFG loader automatically shows the channels installed on my Wii as well? I don't like how it shows those things and I want to keep it Wii/GC specific only.

Thanks!

Hi all, I'm running Configurable USB Loader 70v50 and I'm trying to set the default path of my covers to be saved to the USB drive instead of the sdcard. Here is what my config file looks like:

Code:
# USBLoader config
# lines starting with # are comments
# see README-CFG.txt for help on options

# theme
theme = Glass

# gui
gui = start
gui_transition = fade
gui_style = flow
gui_rows = 2

# device
device = usb

# language related options:
# translation = XX
# db_language = XX

# this is required for asian languages:
# load_unifont = 1
music = sd:/usb-loader/music
unlock_password = AAAA
disable_remove = 1
disable_format = 1
admin_unlock = 1

# path for covers
covers_path = usb:/wbfs/covers
covers_path_2d = usb:/wbfs/covers/2d
covers_path_3d = usb:/wbfs/covers/3d
covers_path_disc = usb:/wbfs/covers/disc
covers_path_full = usb:/wbfs/covers/full

I've created the appropriate folders on the root of my USB drive, but whenever I try to download covers, I get an error with a system dump. What else do I need to do in order to relocate the default path for covers? Should I specify usb1 or usb2 in the pathname?

By default the covers are already saved on the usb drive without having anything in the config.ini file.

usb:/usb-loader/covers/2d
usb:/usb-loader/covers/3d
usb:/usb-loader/covers/disc
usb:/usb-loader/covers/full

usb:/usb-loader/covers/2d
usb:/usb-loader/covers/3d

I'm not sure that this is the case unless there's somewhere within Configurable USB Loader itself that I have to set in order to have it write to the USB drive instead of the SD card. Any time that I try to download covers, it saves it to sd:/usb-loader/covers, etc.

Guys, I can't find a way to make CFG Loader not load my apps or maybe emu nand and GC games. Is it possible for me to use the updated CFG Loader and set up in a way that it ONLY loads Wii games?

Thanks.

Sounds like you might have a config.ini file on both your sd card and your hard drive and they are conflicting with each other.

If your not going to use the sd card then just take it out of the wii.
If your still using it and need it in there then make sure there's nothing related to cfg loader on the sd card.

If there is nothing related to cfg on the sd card but your still having the issues then temporarily remove the sd card and delete your config.ini from the hard drive and then
restart cfg loader. It will make a new config file and by default it should save everything to the hard drive.

There's absolutely nothing related to cfg on the USB drive itself except for the usb:/wbfs/covers folders which are all empty. I'm still using my SD card for cfg because without it, I am unable to run cfg at all. I guess what I have right now is a forwarder. Is there any way to run cfg as a separate channel itself so that I won't need to have my SD card in the Wii at all times?

Going back to my original problem: if there is no config.ini file on my USB drive and only the config.ini on my SD drive which has the appropriate pathnames, then is there another reason why it isn't working?

Since your config.ini is on the sd card its going to save everything to the sd card regardless if you have it in the cfg to save on the hard drive.

What forwarder channel are you using?

The official forwarder channel will point to both sd and usb.

Just take everything related to cfg that is on your sd card and move it all to your hard drive.

Then in the config.ini file you need to change everything that points to the sd card to the hard drive instead.

No they don't, that statement is wrong, especially with the games that need the classic controller, and also wiiware tiltes have problems..
The problem is that Mighty Channels still runs on cIOS, which still does not handle wiiware/VC very good, i guess compatibility is more like 80/90%.
But if you would run VC in a NEEK environment, VC should be a 100% and wiiware titles almost a 100% (i know of one title that does not work, paper wars cannonfodder).

Thank you, Etheboss, i was just mislead by that statement. Will try NEEK sometime.

Quick question... I think.

I recently decided to start using CFG's built-in Devolution functionality to play GC backups, rather than the standalone launcher.

However, when I move my memcard.bin file to sdcard:\usb-loader\, I am told that the memory card is corrupt in game (any game).

Formatting the "card" allows me to save and load normally with no problems, but upon opening the new memcard.bin on my PC, I see that the file itself is completely blank.

I was wondering if the saves were actually stored somewhere else and the blank memcard.bin was being used as a placeholder.

If so, where are the actual saves stored and how would I go about transferring my saves?

I'd rather not start all my games over... I guess I'll just use my actual memory card for the time being.

I am currently using v70r50 with the latest version of devolution's loader.bin and cIOS 250[57]-d2x-v10 if that matters.

Thank you in advance!

I believe that's the file that devolution uses to verify the copy of the iso on the hard drive. If you mess with that file at all then you get the error message.

You could also try out dios mios (DM) which plays gamecubes games off the hard drive as well but does not need to verify that you own the original disc.
I know with DM you use a real gamecube memory card or you can use a setting within the loader called no more memory(NMM) which will make the game save on the hard drive itself instead of the real gamecube memory card. The NMM option though does not have 100% compatibility with all games though.

Thank you for the quick response.

I have tried DM before but it only works like 1 in 5 times for any given game I've tried (could be my setup), so I put it the the side for now.

Devolution hasn't given me any problems so far and all the games I own have full compatibility with it.

I think you are referring to the .dvv files which are created once your disc has be verified.

My question is dealing with the memory card file (memcard.bin) that is located in the same folder (gc_devo) as those files.

When using the default Devolution, this file gives me no problems, but when I try using the same file with CFG (by moving it to the corresponding folder) I am told it is corrupt.

Allowing the game to format results in a blank file (memcard.bin) but the games still save and load which means they must be getting saved elsewhere.

I'm just curious as to where that is.

They are not being saved as if they were NMM saves, nor are they being saved to the memcard.bin file.... maybe magic?

Since your config.ini is on the sd card its going to save everything to the sd card regardless if you have it in the cfg to save on the hard drive.

What forwarder channel are you using?

The official forwarder channel will point to both sd and usb.

Just take everything related to cfg that is on your sd card and move it all to your hard drive.

Then in the config.ini file you need to change everything that points to the sd card to the hard drive instead.

I'm pretty sure I'm using the official forwarder. I took your advice and moved everything on the SD card that was related to cfg and moved it onto my USB drive. I've also changed everything in my config.txt (I don't have a config.ini file) to point to the USB drive, like so:

Code:
# USBLoader config
# lines starting with # are comments
# see README-CFG.txt for help on options

# theme
theme = Glass

# gui
gui = start
gui_transition = fade
gui_style = flow
gui_rows = 2

# device
device = usb

# language related options:
# translation = XX
# db_language = XX

# this is required for asian languages:
# load_unifont = 1
music = usb:/usb-loader/music
unlock_password = AAAA
disable_remove = 1
disable_format = 1
admin_unlock = 1

# path for covers
covers_path = usb:/usb-loader/covers
covers_path_2d = usb:/usb-loader/covers/2d
covers_path_3d = usb:/usb-loader/covers/3d
covers_path_disc = usb:/usb-loader/covers/disc
covers_path_full = usb:/usb-loader/covers/full

I'm still getting a system dump every time I try to download covers. If I keep the usb-loader folder on my SD card instead, all of the covers will download fine and they will be stored on my SD card.

On another note, are you able to run cfg without the SD card in the Wii? I have the boot.dol in sd:/apps/USBLoader, so the forwarder relies on the SD card being present so that when I run the channel it can boot up cfg. I was just wondering if there's a way to permanently install it so that I won't have to use the SD card for anything. This is really a side note though, I'd really like to get the covers to download properly onto my USB drive.

I run everything off the hard drive with no issues at all.

1TB drive formatted as fat32 with 32k cluster size.
Vv70mod50 of cfg loader with v12 of the official forwarder channel.

Here is my config.txt file

device = usb
gui_pointer_scroll = 0
clock_style = 12am
write_playlog = 3
return_to_channel = auto

You might also want to check the same folder that has the config.txt file for another file called settings.cfg

Any settings made in the settings.cfg file will over ride any settings made in config.txt

So change anything if you have to so that it matches the config.txt file.

Also try taking the covers path out of your config.txt file and see what that does.

I don't have any other file called settings.cfg or anything similar, but I did as you suggested and took the covers path out of my config.txt file. This allowed the covers to attempt to download and then produce an error message of:

Code:
ERROR: NTFS WRITE DISABLED
(set ntfs_write=1)

So I went back into my config.txt and appended that line. My config.txt now looks like this:

Code:
# USBLoader config
# lines starting with # are comments
# see README-CFG.txt for help on options

# theme
theme = Glass

# gui
gui = start
gui_transition = fade
gui_style = flow
gui_rows = 2

# device
device = usb

# language related options:
# translation = XX
# db_language = XX

# this is required for asian languages:
# load_unifont = 1
music = usb:/usb-loader/music
unlock_password = AAAA
disable_remove = 1
disable_format = 1
admin_unlock = 1
ntfs_write = 1

Trying to download the covers again with the ntfs_write = 1 still produces the same error. I have absolutely nothing related to cfg on my SD card and the only configuration file within the usb-loader folder seems to be config.txt. I've attached a screenshot of all of the files within that folder in case there's some other file that I should modify.

You can try creating a settings.cfg file inside usb-loader folder and then add the ntfs_write = 1 line to it as well and then save it and try it out.

Thanks so much! This worked just fine.

Now would you be able to help me figure out how I can run cfg through only my USB drive? Since my SD card is where the application exists (sd:/apps/USBLoader_cfg), would I simply be able to copy the apps folder to the root of my USB drive and have the Homebrew Channel recognize it? How do you have it set up on your end?

That's exactly what you need to do :)

Although mine is

usb:/apps/USBLoader

Try yours out first just moving it to the usb drive and then try it from your forwarder channel. If it works then your all set.
If it doesn't work then just remove the _cfg from the folder name and try it again.
