it works on mame 0.5 or 1.0 that game is fun you get to be a white Micheal black Micheal and finally Red Micheal. at least it's better then that sega gens piece of crap version. hell if i want to get my mame fix i may get mame back on my wii... i doubt the next retroarch is going have the mame on it...

The MAME 0.78 libretro port is already there - the reason it's not getting bundled in with the next RetroArch point release is exactly because it isn't yet a satisfactory release for my standards (lots of endian issues that only manifest themselves on big endian right now, issues on systems that don't support unaligned memory access).

And the MAME ports you have on the Wii right now are totally inadequate for running any kind of mid '90s games on it at tolerable speeds - so sorry, given how the Wii scene is shaped up right now (it's basically dead - no offense), I don't see you having many options other than to wait for me to get the MAME 0.78 libretro port up to the standards where you guys can 'consume it' on big-endian machines.

What is this, I don't even.

C'mon Libretro, don't make promises that can't be met

This is the last time I will set a release date, that is for sure. Lesson learned. Next time it will just be dropped when it's ready (like I'm doing right now) and I don't have to deal with all the whining and crap.

Doesn't change the fact that you can survive waiting a few more days - how many people were going to be desperately waiting for a new release on New Year's Day anyway? Most were out having a good name, boozing it up or whatever. The delay is all in the name of offering you a better quality (and better tested) release anyway - it's not like I am punking anybody or trolling anybody.

If you were paying me in any way, you would have grounds to complain. Good thing I don't take monetary donations of any kind then or you would be having a field day right now.

Last thing I want to establish - RetroArch is about creating a 'platform' and a 'console' in its own right at this point - it's about being everywhere, with the same ports, with pretty much the same quality everywhere. It's as much of a hardware project right now as it is a software project - that is why you see each new point release being accompanied with ports to new hardware platforms.

This is why RetroArch 0.9.6 was all about the PS3 and Xbox 360.

This is why RetroArch 0.9.7 was all about the Wii and Xbox 1.

This is why RetroArch 0.9.8 will be all about Android.

And this is why RetroArch 0.9.9 will be all about [insert platform here].

The Wii is not, and never will be, RetroArch's main focus of interest. And you guys should be glad that it isn't, because that is what ensures RetroArch Wii's longevity. If this project was all about the Wii, then it would be as dead right now as the rest of the Wii scene right now. Precisely because it's multiplatform and precisely because it isn't Wii-centric in any way will ensure that Wii users will be able to receive new cores and new updates long and long after the Wii ceases being a relevant platform.

Every 'platform' that RetroArch and libretro takes under its wing is another platform that is guaranteed a steady supply of new cores and updates long after the platform ceases to be 'interesting' to homebrew devs. That alone should be more than enough cause for celebration.

Well, now that we got word from the author of RetroArch, we can all rest easy. Now, then,
as for trying to explain my prior asinine behavior, I have a picture that best fits the regret for
pissing the f***ing hell outta you.

I think this counts for every Console ATM. ( PS3, XBox 1 & 360,Wii. )
Allthough vWii in the WiiU will have the longest lifespan ATM of all consoles, as you can already use it right now.

So I guess the next release will run on the Android Ouya console now that the developer units are being released.

Do any of the RetroArch staff have access to a Ouya.

Will the emulator be released for PlayStation 2 at anytime or is that console deemed too weak.

Nobody on the development team has an Ouya devkit, but if Ouya can run unsigned .apks from external sources, it should be able to run it when its released. Might have some issues with input though, since we don't know what binds it uses.

Will VBA Next ever get fixes for the framerate issues in Iridion 2, Mother 3, etc?

Thanks for the reply and any PS2 news?

Not on Wii due to memory restraints. IIRC only Mednafen supports rewind feature, for Master System, Game Gear, NES, GameBoy and TurbograFX games.

Anyway, happy New Year everyone and may 2013 be the best year for everyone.

Reading the last pages, i'm happy to see the drama about the release date is thankfully behind us, which is as it should, ie it will be ready ready when it's ready.

If it's not too much hussle, i would like to ask ToadKing and Libretroarch about the changelog for the forthcoming 0.9.8 version, just to know what to expect.
1. If i understood correctly, MAME 0.78 (or is it 0.72 for Wii?) will be postponed for later on Wii (0.9.9 or beyond)?
2. Will arguments be supported (saved custom button assignments for each setup)?
3. Will there be an automatic detection of input method (say NC+Wiimote vs Wiimote by itself) on startup?
4. zip support for small roms? (although that is a non issue at this point, just asking ;) )
5.Support for larger neo geo roms?
6. Speedup and performance improvements for sme fba games like Toki, Shinobi etc?
7. Any significant core specific changes?

That's all, thanks again for all the work so far and please take your time.
For what it's worth we can already play 500 arcade games along with thousands of retro console games with FBA, it's already great.

so AMD seem to finally be starting to take AI seriously

Oh yeah those new 8000 CPUs have AI cores built in that's interesting

Maybe they plan on offloading to the CPU?

Would be kinda cool to have the CPU and GPU working in random more

i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling

even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling

LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow

I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol

They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol

@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think nvidia wants to get in the x64 cpu market anyways
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
you've seen how much intel is struggling getting into the gpu market

i don't think they want to take more focus away from their gpus

Yeah I think Nvidia s future lays in AI GPU acceleration stuff if they can get that going it's going to be super interesting in the long term

AI assisted game creation might become a thing
