I actually asked him about CFW and he said it's impossible right now-they don't have RSA permissions or something like that.

I thought with full kernel access anything was possible, I think I recall even Neimod saying that anything is possible.

I hope he doesn't get mad for this...
[17:30] <Roguezz> Lol, well, they're always going to release a fimware update to try to block you so it doesn't really matter. Unless you can use the dev unit or even your exploit to try to cut the nintendo update service completely. But even then, you won't be able to use the eshop unless you have a CFW or unless you can emulate the service.
[17:31] <yellows8> ugh, "CFW" installed in the NAND FIRM partitions is impossible with RSA-signing...

"[07:53:05] <@neimod> the sky is the limit!"
But the sky only goes so high it seems :P
Shame about no CFW possibility yet.

In my religion, there are 7 skies. So I guess we finally got to the 1st one. That's good enough for now. :)

Definitely, I didn't mean to downplay how amazing it is what they've accomplished already.
I hope they at least find a way of preserving the exploit through system updates. Can't say I'd look forward to a repeat of the PS3...

THAT'S the entire reason it hasn't been released yet.

I would advise people not to get there hopes up for now, I've followed a number of console scene's in my life, one of the biggest difference between scene's from back in the day and now is the activeness, but I also understand that manufacturers have started to take strict action towards hacking of there products and they have all the rights too as well, so people should just calm down there a$$e$ and be patient, if they rush this there is a possibility that we will lose any homebrew if possible on 3ds, , anyways good thread nonetheless.

plus even once the 3ds exploit is released We won't see any homebrew for a while because people have to learn how to program 3ds games
Not quite, if the rumor is true that the 3ds uses a modified c++ then homebrew should come out decently fast.

Hmm . . . 67 games exploitable. I wonder if these are every game that runs on a firmware below 2.2.0-4. Lets just hope this info doesn't help the N narrow down to the exploit.

I think this is enough irc probing for now. Except maybe to ask them for a nice little teaser video. :D

I asked-but they said that Nintendo would be able to patch it if they saw the video-and blacking out the stuff would make it pointless.

This is exactly what I was talking about, I don't mean to offend anyone, but aren't we being to hasty?they have already specified that they can't do much with kernel access as well, though taking off region locking is mouth watering.

It'll be released sometime this year-maybe even before the break, and I updated the info.
