Flashcarts are available to a degree on the 3DS dependant upon the firmware you have upgraded to , which allows DS hacks , (as it was on the DS), none of which allow anyone to code homebrew in the 3DS mode. Hacking of the 3DS refers to the 3DS mode.

Thank you for explaining that makes sense.

Not to be rude but, why do you need to hack the 3ds when flash carts are readily available?
Flash carts only have access to the power of a DS, they don't have access to the 3DS's upgraded power and hardware.

For examples if flash carts could run in 3DS mode, they could play SNES games way better at a proper resolution without downscaling.

that miss spelling not grammar
You also missed half a dozen commas, a full stop and a capital letter. Also popcorn is one word. In addition to all this, your post contributed absolutely nothing to the thread (as have all of those following it, up to and including this one). Finally, that is not an idea for hacking the 3DS. That is a statement of your intent to do nothing.

Isn't a half a dozen just six right? I know that bakers dozen is like 11 or something but I couldn't remember half a dozen. Either way 6 commas is a lot to screw up on, thats bogus i agree. How the hell does the public expect us to hack the 3DS if we can't even use commas?

1. Half a dozen is 6. (Because a dozen is 12).
2. A "baker's dozen" is 13, one extra in case one gets burnt.
3. "Half a dozen" is a colloquialism; I didn't count exactly how many commas were missing, it probably wasn't exactly 6.
4. "...expect us to...if we can't..." - what part have you played in hacking the 3DS? I don't think anyone expects such a thing from this collective you seem to be a part of, whoever they are.

would you plese stop arguing!!
this topic isn't about grammar is about 3ds hack!!!
Funny thing is, nobody criticises people who actually contribute to the thread, no matter how bad the grammar is. Only those who post a useless comment (which usually, not always, has bad spelling and/or grammar) get bashed.

I could point out your flaws. Instead I'll leave you with this passive aggressive comment. See above.

Not a technical genius, but I want a franking cheat engine, and ain't seen this mentioned

Could we not couple code with a signature to trick the system into thinking its using legit software?

Something along the lines of those old unofficial NES games that made you plug an official cartridge in

Then the 3DS boots up your Zelda game, once authentication goes though the homebrew code takes over? Atleast to install a custom firmware?

Just an idea

The security on the 3DS is a lot more advanced than a NES, or indeed most older consoles. Any techniques used in the past won't work on the 3DS, security has advanced since then, and companies have learnt from their past vulnerabilities. New approaches must be used.

I remember an article ages ago saying how Ninty had to learn not only from their own mistakes but also from Sony's failures to rebuild the security of the 3DS and make sure it doesn't suffer the same fate as the DS. From everything I've heard, it sounds like they've finally taken security seriously.

Which is why only the serious hackers are left to try and crack it. Nine of these Geohotz shenanigans.

I don't know about you guys, but to me it seems that theories about hacking the 3DS are flying around left and right.
Every day or so a new theory has popped up, further cluttering this section and driving people nuts.
So if you have an idea how the 3DS can be hacked
be it through Images, or the SD slot, or DS Download, or Save files or Pushing all the buttons in a special combination, or a QR code, or an R4 clone running mega awesome firmware, or Reciting Celtic chants while rubbing the 3DS on your genitals;
post it here.
We don't need any new threads for theories.
Until a theory is proven, it's only flamebait.

Notice that this is not an EoF thread, so we don't want ridiculous ideas (like the Celtic chanting comment) put forth.
If you see theory threads that remain open, please report them.
With your help, maybe we can quench the flames of this subforum
and actually fill it with content rather than speculation.

Thank you.

how aboutif you focused on eshop as that is the software as the downloaded software is signed there isnt it and then it is locked

this is an idea but what about creating an dns server for the eshop were it allows users to download the ambassador certificate na deshop will sign it to the 3ds nad then download all the ambassador games?

@K3Nv2 Snow Day is pretty fun. My only bitch would be the camera controls, when you move around, say down, you have to move the right stick left or right to get camera to turn and get your view, other than that I like it so far.

From what people say pvp isn't even worth it

I just been playing offline, and they give you a few bots here n there on your team to help battle. I don't think it's as funny as the other games tho, more battle oriented than humor, which kinda sucks, but I'm still early in it
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, doesnt the game have a campaign mode?
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea, and co-op, but you can also start a pvp session and battle just with friends. You get special skill cards (powers) the more you play. And higher value cards, but you can only enable so many cards at a time.

Toilet paper is considered the money, you collect and buy stuff with TP, kinda funny. Graphics are def better than the other games tho, I think they used Unity 5 engine.

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, Many of them did before colour television was common.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Likely because black and white TV was in-expensive.

  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
It certainly wasn't inexpensive it cost the same as a new car back then
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
How much did a 1965 color TV cost?

For example, a 21-inch (diagonal) GE color television in 1965 had an advertised price of $499, which is equal to $4,724 in today's dollars, according to the federal government's inflation calculator.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@K3Nv2, take into consideration how economy was back then
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Yeah that's why they listed inflation rates
