So for Christmas I'm getting a WiiU. Thought it was a Deluxe but I was told it's the standard edition. (No issue, I have a USB HDD and such. Heard white is less of a fingerprint magnet.) But I've been thinking about which game to get with it. I typically get $150-$200 in money along with other gifts. I know there's an essentials thread but I prefer to get games based on what people say about it rather than a +1.

I could go to a review site, but I prefer a viewpoint from a typical gamer. I've got a 360, (Which apparently might be dying on me.) So I've played many of the exclusives. (Batman, AC3, and such.) Now about the WiiU titles I've heard NintendoLand is the best, and ZombiU is a hit or miss depending on what you're into. What titles that use the WiiU mechanics well are out that you all enjoy? NintendoLand worth a purchase or should I wait for it to go on sale?

(Will probably be going to GameStop when I get the Wii U, but if there's a good sale elsewhere I can order it online.)

You could try gamefly first. Right now I don't think there are any "must own" Wii U games. I am sure you will be able to pick up a used copy of Nintendo land from Amazon or Ebay after christmas. From everyone that got the deluxe and don't care for the game.

Save your money for a game that is worth owning.

zombiu is really good, but almost no replay value, you could probably rent it beat it and forget about it.
used zombiu and nintendo land will probably both be under $30 in another month maybe even under $20 new ones can't hold their value forever either.

If you like Nintendo games I really like NSMB on it, really fantastic.

Really can't say a lot about Nintendo Land, I have played it for like an hour maybe 2 and the game just hmmmm it really feels worse than Wii Sports as a tech demo and less fun... At least Wii sports had bowling, golf and tennis. Fun if you had some friends to play it with.

I wouldn't recommend buying Nintendo Land at all, or if you do as others have said wait until after Christmas. It should be in the bargain bin by then for sure. (I have already seen it for under $40 online used.)

If you check Craigslist you could probably find it even cheaper and after Christmas cheaper yet...

You said you already have an external hard drive, do yourself a huge favor and download the Rayman Legends demo and try it out, fantastic game I am probably going to pick up soon.

Sonic Racing Demo..... It's nice but feels sort of like a Mario Kart clone that just barely misses the mark... Worth a download to try out and see if you like it :)

I want Rayman. It's the first demo I played in GameStop, and it was awesome. Wish it was a launch title. I have Sonic Racing on the 360 and thought it was okay. I've like to grab at least one WiiU title for my WiiU. Or else it'd just sit there until a must have title comes out. So for those who say wait if you were forced to pick a WiiU title to play that is released, which would it be?

As far as using the controller well, then zombiu is the main game. I gotta say that I'm impressed how effectively Batman uses it (maps, hacking, inventory management), but still...
Even nintendoland doesn't quite make so well use of the two screens (except, obviously, the team games where you hide your screen from your friends).
However, you've got to hand it as it is: it's a survival horror game. You can't force someone to like it.

Nintendoland is certainly the most versatile, so if you want variety or a good party game: get that.

NSMBU could easily be made on the wii (though slightly worse graphics), but I can't deny it's a very fun game.

As for the most bang for your buck...I'm still going for little inferno. It's nothing more than just a fireplace in which you burn all sorts of stuff. But in a way, that's also something very satisfying.

And yes, I wanted Rayman to be a launch title as well. :(

I did not care very much for the Gamepad implementation in Rayman, its annoying to need to look at the gamepad every 2 seconds to tap the circle all the time. I consider that dumb and reminds me of when you watch a 3D movie where all the effects pop out unnecessarily to show that its "3D" like it was done intentionally vs part of the movie. I like the 2 screen concept of the gamepad but i do not want games to overly force me to use it every 2 seconds when you can easily press a button instead.

Spent the last hour playing Little Inferno on the PC. Love it. I'm thinking NSMBU, and or Nintendo Land. If I had to choose for now one of them and get the other on sale which would you choose?

I just picked up madden 13 last night... I really the gamepad implementation but it lacks some of the things from the 360. Can't remember what though, I only played one game and went to bed.

I've been playing COD 2 and it is great. Love all the modes, campaign, online, and Zombie online. I've also been playing NANO assault and it is a pretty good shooter, very colorful and fast action. I Want to get the Lego City game when it comes out as well.

I'd recommend NSMBU over NintendoLand. NintendoLand gets boring quick with singleplayer and is really only good if your into party games. Both games can have up to 5 players, NSMBU's campaign is a bit short though, around 5 hours if I remember correctly but the challenges and coin battle help with replayability.

IMO, there's no must have title for the wii U yet. I would have to say though, that ZombiU is a must try.

Nintendoland will most likely net you a lower price on sale, for the simple reason it comes with many consoles.

Also...yeah, NSMBU > nintendoland in the single player aspect. They're both good in their own way, but still...

Oh, and NSMBU also has a lot of hidden things in it. Not 'just' the extra levels if you collect all the extra coins in a world, but there is one optional world, quite some branched paths (choose level A or B) and I think each world has their own secret level as well. I rushed through the game just to unlock the 'save whenever you want to' feature.
