According to the shop I generally go to (this site (warning it is a dutch site)) it will come out in 2013, but there's no specific release date on there.

If the Wii is not hacked then there's no way to play it cause it's region locked.

You don't have to hack it.
You can also run an exploit and boot up a patcher to make the console region free.

Besides if OP said that he's going to resort to piracy then his Wii is most likely hacked.

But if the region free console gets updated then its bricked right?

Only if you permanently region change it.
Patching the region in RAM (correct me if I'm wrong) does nothing to the original region.
It'll happily load every region there is and after the Wii has shut down it'll be back to normal.

i've seen it at a local game stop. (i'm now living in germany btw) and i've seen it on base (at the local BX) so i guess it depends on where in the EU you are that it has or havn't been released.

In other words: you do have to hack it. :P

I think you meant to say "You don't have to pirate it". But even using an exploit in order to temporary do things nintendo didn't meant comes under the meaning of 'hacking'.

In the eyes of Nintendo it is piracy. Why would Nintendo put region locks on their systems in the first place if they did not have a problem with people buying imported games. lol.

That's nitpicking but you're right on it.
However if it's just using the exploit temporarily to play the game then it's not entirely hacking.

Besides didn't 2.x Wii's had the vulnerability of loading a Freeloader disc?

I imported Pikmin 2 from Austrailia, and that works just fine in an NTSC Wii as long as you're using 480p and you use something like Gecko OS to launch it. (Just use one of the exploits like Smash Stack for Brawl, and switch the disc when Gecko OS loads.)

Wii games are still being published here in the UK, so you could always cross your fingers and hope. Other than that, your options are to pirate it or import it, as others have pointed out.

You can also import it.

No need to pirate.
We here on GBATemp don't condone in piracy.
Interesting use of the word "We", as if you're speaking for the majority when, in fact, the general population of the board quite clearly condones piracy, actively encourages it and even facilitates it, only stopping short of actually hosting copyright content. A more accurate statement would be, "Some of us here on GBATemp don't condone piracy, whilst some of us give no fucks what others do. Carry on."

That I know >__>
You don't have to tell me that.
People come to me and ask me if I can mod their console or are making a thread in the 360 section to ask help for hacking their console because "they have 3 kids which are uncaring for games" when they actually mean, I'm not paying for games.
I heard that story way to many times btw.

Obviously the majority here pirates.
But carelessly announcing it in an openings post in a thread is a bit... to much.

Besides the rules of Temp say: We here at GBATemp don't condone in piracy (add more text).
It's not exactly that but very very similar.

To "control" sales, which is a half-a**ed excuse. Hacking =/= piracy. Piracy is obtaining copyrighted material by illicit means, hacking is making (usually) software modifications to a console, which CAN (but doesn't always) lead to piracy. The two are not mutually exclusive, but purchasing a game from a different region and playing on a console with disabled region locking is hardly piracy.

Hey, Nintendo, here's some clarification

Piracy = illegally obtained material
Hacking = making unofficial modifications to either hardware or software

K thx bai.

If someone's going to pirate, it's best not to noise it about. What people do is their business and not mine.
