Wow. Seen a thread over at NeoGAF and had to confirm it myself as it seemed unbelievable. But after trying to buy ZombiU to test this, I just got an error page, which is consistent with the people over in the thread.

This is just insane. There's allegedly some law in Germany which means they have to do this there, but extending it to all of Europe is a nightmare.

What's funny is that some UK ISP put a night time cap on downloading...so it'll take even longer to download for some then if they could during the day, and then it's bed time.

Nintendo, for every good thing they do several fucking dumb things.

So what would happen if you can't complete the download by 3 A.M., would the Wii U cancel/pause it?

I'm guessing only the viewing of the item in the shop / purchase is restricted, download can be at any time (though it would be a good idea to at least start it).

Though... sucks for you guys over there --- hope that gets worked around.

It will, once the WiiU security gets cracked like a walnut and USB loaders come out for WiiU games (and DLC).

Their servers are located in Germany so they must follow their laws even if they are distributing content to other countries. It's stupid but that's how laws work, for example it's illegal to show TV commercials on TV networks aimed at children here but since most broadcasting centers are located in the UK there's nothing Swedish laws can do about it.

Anyways felt like bumping the thread because NoE is currently working on ways to get around this.

This is a stupid move...

1. I'm the parent so i decide what's right or wrong for my kids to see or not to see....
2. I'm no kid
3. There is no way I'm waiting for 20:00 pm to buy anything.. it's ridiculous..

And by the way.. When I was 8 years old and wanted to watch stuff that was not allowed, my parents would forbid me and explain to me why. It is the PARENTS responsibility to manage what their kids have access to or not!

I find this kind of laws just an easy way to take away responsibility from parents...

Games do NOT influence people! PARENTS DO!!!!
