Gaming Question about DLC

Alrighty, so I'm quite confused with the whole DLC stuff. I'm thinking about grabbing the PSABR. I know its all region free so here's my situation.

I got my Vita from the States. I live in Australia but I've hooked my account to NA region I think (the games are cheaper). Let's say I buy the Australia version of PSABR and I want to buy the DLC for it, will this work regardless?

I can't remember exactly but I remember someone rambling that I'll need the PSN account region to be the same as the game region where it's bought, for DLC to work? Is that right?

I'm not sure if I worded that correctly lol I struggled to get this down from brain to keyboard haha

AFAIK it'll be restricted to the account you're using. I bought my PSVita from the States (ACIII:Liberations bundle) and the codes I got with the console (PSABR + 3x30 days PS+) didn't work on my EU account. Haven't tried any AC DLC yet (not available yet?), but I presume it won't work.

Someone has tested the JP version of Uncharted on an AU account with the map DLC, but it didn't work. It's a bit difficult to say, since some people say that the data is still there after changing the accounts. Also the trophies are bound to a certain account on the console. There have been some situations where importing has worked on different regions (US code on EU PSN), but those seem to be unique things and with Sony's own games.

To sum it up: Probably won't work with DLC. There is still a possibility, but the easiest (?) way to find a 100% answer is to ask Sony.

So its safe to say I should get PSABR from the States so it will definitely work right? Hmm... the region free stuff for games isnt really completely true huh? That's a bummer.

Region free for games on carts is 100% true, but the DLC side is another issue. As I've just received my PSVita and am using an EU PSN account, I can't say for sure if everything works without a flaw. What I do know is that UK codes always work with EU accounts. Or at least I've yet to encounter a code that doesn't work. I expect (actually hope) this to change in one way or another, but nothing is certain as there are different publishers in different regions (Zero Escape and the English dub missing in the EU version because of publisher restrictions/laziness).

Well I've ordered PSABR and AC3L from the states and hopefully they will arrive before Christmas on express delivery lol

Partly yes, partly no. People complain always about something. In this case they've been pampered by the PS3, which supports multiple accounts and multiple DLC types (download a DLC with JP account and it works with the EU account too). With the PSVita it's not as simple. If and when Sony opens this a bit more, we'll see cross-region DLC working. Just because the limits on consoles and accounts are starting to become a real limiting factor for many (2 home consoles and 2 portable consoles per account). If Sony raised those number by 1 or possibly even 2 when the Orbis is released, I'd be quite happy.
