What is this?
A translation for the game Danball Senki BOOST (PSP).

What is Danball Senki BOOST?
Danball (as it's usually referred to) is a toy robot fighter. Think Medabots but smaller or Custom Robo but controlled via cellphones.
Why are you translating this?
I love Level-5 (developer) games. I already had a huge amount of luck with their Gundam AGE game and this has also proven to be pretty easy to work with. Also because we don't know when the the official release is coming out.

What all are you translating?
Right now we're working the items, parts, menus, and descriptions. Just the things you NEED to play the game. After that we'll start work on the story and other dialogues (e-mails, reports, etc.).

Currently:
00_Data: ~32%
00_Data\Message Data: ~60%
06_GScene: ~28%
06_GScene\Anime: 0%
06_GScene\Battle: 0%
Total: ~24%

Who is "we"?
Frank Cadena (heavy translation)
Maxtram (Provided the tools and image editing)
CrashmanX (Coding and simple translating)
Mani1234 (Translation)
Thong (Translation)
Snu- (Translation)
Fightercraft (Translation)
We're always welcoming extra members, especially anyone with some skills in photoshop for image editing.

Are there any patches out yet?
No, not quite yet.

Well when WILL the patch be out?
I don't know for certain. Only time will tell.

Any screenshots?
Sure.

Anymore?
Yep, just head over to imgur.

What tools are you using?
I am using a set of tools from the Madoka Magica Portable translation team (given to me by Maxtram) and a personally translated CPK Tools.
Anyone else can easily use these tools to take a crack at the game (Or attempt another game with CPK and PAC files) as I've uploaded them here http://www.mediafire.com/?4tlbwjd47giy5uq

Well how do I use these mythical tools?
Glad you asked! Here ya go! Don't be afraid to ask if you get stuck. Also if a blank Command Prompt shows up, let it sit for a while. These tools can take time.
MAKE SURE TO NOT OVERWRITE YOUR ORIGINAL FILES! Always make a 2nd copy of the originals under a new folder (Example: "Install.CPK folder ORIGINAL" and "Install.CPK folder TRANSLATED")
Example sequence:
1. Use UMDGen to open up your ISO and extract the Install.CPK
2. Use CPK tools to extract the data from the Install.CPK
3. Copy BattleMessage.pac over to the Madohack folder
4. Run the Decodepace.exe
5. Run the Decodebtx.exe (Also run the decodecsb.btx and the decodegima.exe for image files if you want to work on those)
6. Check the Madoka.txt file with your text editor of choice (Note that the text comes out in UTF-16LE Unicode 16 bit Little Endian format)
7. Translate images or text as you wish.
8. Run the encode version of whatever decode programs you already ran (Encodebtx.exe if you ran Decodebtx.exe and so on)
9. Run CPK tools again but this time compressing the CPK (Choose the directory where you saved the translated versions. DO NOT CHANGE THE FILE TREE! Doing so will prevent the game from running.)
10. Make sure you UNCHECK force compression (Forcing compression prevents Battles from working)
11. Open UMDGen again and replace the old install.cpk (Simply drag and drop it) MAKE SURE TO SAVE IT AS A NEW ISO!
12. Put it on your PSP and test it out. (I don't know if Danball works on JPCSP, so feel free to test it on that)

I'd like to try my hand at editing the images.
Go right ahead. Here's a folder containing 90% of the games images. You'll need to use the above tools to decode/encode the images again once you're done with them.
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?90965l9667osz1y

I don't know any Japanese though!
Use Wikipedia to find the Katakana (Or Hirigana) and then copy/paste those into Google Translate in the order which they appear on the image. Google should give you a rough translation of what it says. If you're not sure that's right, post it here and I'll let you know.

That'll take too long.
You best start believing in other languages, cause you gonna start learnin one.

HEY! HEY! HEY! What's the progress! How much longer?
Well we're workin on the MessageData folder located under the 00_Data folder. So who knows. This appears to be the majority of the game content though (story aside). After this folder is done the Translators will move onto the Story data (Should they choose) and the image editors will come in and work on the 06_Scene folder.

Extra Info:
So I've just about lost all interest in translating Danball. I quit working about 3 months back and just haven't messed with anything since. With the anime being licensed I'm more than certain the games aren't far behind for 3DS and PSV. If anyone wants the tools to continue they're attached above. They make translation incredibly easy and you can translate the entire game with said tools if you're willing to put the time and work in.
I'm sorry if this disappoints anyone in anyway. I've just lost all interest and don't care about Danball anymore. That isn't to say if someone wanted my help I wouldn't offer it. I'd be more than glad to assist someone if they continued our work.

Original post
Alright guys, as you know I'm working on a translation for Danball Senki BOOST (Also known as Little Battlers eXperience Boost). Now I've been able to get a small amount done, primarily the main menu. However this was done using only tools supplied by Maxtram and MS Paint. There are images within the game which require more than what paint can do (Unless you dump a TON of time into it, then anything is possible) and require a more complex program like Photoshop. I however am not that skilled with Photoshop and need some help ASAP. I'm looking for someone, anyone, who can create some images for me using photoshop and keep the original style (as best as you can) that the originals had. I can provide the translations so you don't have to worry about being able to read/speak Japanese. I just need you to be able to make said images. (Please see attached image if you're interested)

Also this will become my main thread for the Danball thread next week once I have more translated. For now here's some early images.
http://imgur.com/a/akDcM

Also I have no idea why everything is double spoilers. If anyone could help me figure that out, it'd be much appreciated.

BOOST is just an extension of the first game. It's quite literally just Danball Senki + so I won't be translating the first one.
As far as the font, if you're talking about the attached image, that's a direct texture from the game. If you're talking about the screenshots in the album, that's just the basic font I've been using for now. It's still subject to change.

Also just looking for general translators who want to help out ATM. I've got quite a few files to go through so if anyone wanted to dedicate five minutes to translate a few lines that'd be cool.
Just let me know what the original was and what you translated it to and from which of the files.
http://pastebin.com/u/CrashmanX
EDIT: Also how would one go about making a patch if the patched files are MUCH larger than the original. Say about 300MB bigger?

I'll help with the translation of the files later when I have some time. Is it ok if I just put the translated text next to the Japanese text? For example

#RECORD 0
<落:お>とし<物:もの>を<探:さが>して! [Search for the for the dropped item!]

Yea not a problem. That's actually very helpful

Query: How do I save once I've made the changes? I've never used pastebin before. Or perhaps you want the the translations in a different form? Maybe text file attachment to a post once I'm done?

As far as I know with Pastebin you cannot modify the things that are already there. You'll have to download the file and edit it yourself and then attache it to a post.

Well I've gotten half of the Quest titles roughly translated. I estimate that I'll have it done by the next few days and then I'm on to the menu messages.

I've already got the first 2 chunks of the menu messages done, AREAEXPLAIN_JP.BTX and AREANAME_JP.BTX.
