Hey peeps,

This is my first thread in this section and most likely my last thread created in this section (not much of a Sony fan :P ). With all of the talk about the super slim PS3 and the likelihood that it was made for people not getting a Wii U, does anyone here think that Sony should make a PS3/Vita bundle to compete with the Wii U console and Gamepad combination?

No, why would you want to bundle those two systems together when all they have in common is Remote Play and some interactivity to come in the future? They're separate platforms.

Uhh...no? At the least this "bundle" would be over $500, I don't know of a single person willing to spend that much for 2 systems at one time. That doesn't even factor in the cost for a memory card for the Vita and games for each.

Not to mention the fact that the Vita is a standalone system, not a controller.

No, they're different standalone systems.

And even if they tried to tout PS3-Vita connectivity, there's only like 1 or 2 games that support it being used like a Wii U GamePad.

as mentioned, my opinion is that the two are separate machines which do not require one another to enjoy.

I don't really see the need for a bundle, I mean the consoles work well together but there's already a pretty large base for the PS3 already and the bundle only appeals to a niche group.

I'm guessing the bundle would probably be like $500 for a 160GB PS3 + WiFi Vita + 4GB memory card + games for each system (either one game you can crossplay like PASBR/Sly Cooper 4 or something that fits thematically like Uncharted 3 GOTY and Uncharted GA).

I like seeing the many replies. Personally I think that such a would be interesting to see from a competition point of view. Then again I wanted to see a motion controller for the PS2 and have the PS2 and Wii duke it out while the 360 and PS3 did their own thing. It is true that the Vita/PS3 bundle would be 500 dollars pricey but hell it's way better than buying a fist gen PS3 alone for the original price of $599.99. What about the fact that some low end (but powerful enough to play) gaming computers are around the 500 range and that's with NO remote play or portable console companion. I could see a bare-bones bundle with the 12GB PS3 slim and WiFi only Vita. Hell, if Nintendo had a 4GB Wii U and 3DS bundle, I'd be all over it! I think that a true Sony fanboy would love to see a bundle like this. couple it with that PS3 3D-TV and it's a Sony-gasm!

I wanted to see a motion controller for the PS2

While it is apples and oranges, with the Eye Toy, the PS2 did have a motion controller

There were also motion adapters for the Dual Shock 2 controller. third party? yes. But still, I think that the Wii would have benefited more from a PS2/Wii war then a Wii/360/PS3 war. Why not have two tiers of gaming, each generation, so that gamers of all price ranges can benefit? :)

Sony made a big mistake.. Wii U is the next Gen and I am sure that it will be competitive next year when PS4 and 720 is coming out. Sony is really silly. Sighing.

Why are people comparing next gen to last gen? The Wii U isn't competing with the PS3, it will be competing with the PS4.

Who exactly told you that the PS4 is coming out next year? 720, perhaps, but not the PS4 - it's still in development and there isn't even a devkit around yet. You're looking at at least a year of development ahead of Sony, which would mean that the PS4 could be scheduled for early 2014.

One does not simply develop, showcase, manufacture and distribute a console in 12 months.

Won't matter much for history now, but when Nintendo started showing off the Wii they did go on board stating how they wasn't competing with MS and Sony and going in a different direction. I know all the bad mouthing people give it when it is being actively sold next to the PS3 and Xbox 360 but remember, sales wise who benefited more ;) but on a more serious note yes, I have been of the opinion for a number of years how software and even some consoles should be cattered more to certain price ranges

The upcoming console battle is looking especially interesting, because it will all run down to content, not the specs. The WiiU is shaping up to be a well-balanced machine with a great price tag, and I have no doubt that both Sony and Microsoft will release strong hardware to compete with it.

With all three able to support the same multiplats, it's entirely a matter of exclusive rights to titles, first-party development and features outside of the gaming sphere that the consoles will offer.

I am betting that it will be release late 2013/early 2014. ;)

Toallly agree! Not everybody wants to spend a month's (or nearly) worth of rent on a game console and games for that console. To many people living paycheck to paycheck, it's just not economically feasible. If the industry wants to be looked at as a form of entertainment they they need to drop the "collectors / specialty" mindset.

This recent generation was about content. The sad part was that this industry is filled with blockheads who subscribe to the closed-minded mentality of "MOAR graffix and moar blood is moar fun!" Nintendo made it clear that this generation was about content when they decided not to play the graphics game and it worked!
