I'm thinking Sony hasn't issued 64GB sticks due to marketing reasons. They could cost 250 bucks or more at the hideous official Memory Stick Pro Duo cost per GB. Not likely to sell at all, especially in our dying western PSP market.
Except PSP's aren't the only device that accepts sticks and Sony's capable to issue even up to 2 terabyte sticks (XC series). Not sure what's the largest one around nowadays, but the standard has been set in motion back in 2009.
So if a 2 terabyte stick was made in theory the PSP could use it no problems?
Nope. The current firmware has a capacity limit of about 256 gigabytes as far as I know. That said, as far as I know, XC sticks are backwards-compatible (but they are formatted in exFAT by default, not sure if the PSP accepts that at this point).
Oh well atleast its nice to know that the PSP can support 256GB even though a 256GB memory stick doesn't exist :glare: Well that clears up my theory, oh well I guess my PSP will always be limited to 32GB D:

Actually, the limit was raised to 2TB in some of the earlier custom firmwares (5.00 M33, I think) but the 6.xx Pro/TN firmwares haven't implemented that patch (as it would only work for permanent CFW unless you were willing to switch cards). Of course, the only way to even test it would be to build a memory stick to IDE/SATA adapter so why bother at this point?

My PSP (2000) currently has 64GB in and it works flawlessly. 2 X 32gb micros SD cards and one of them photofast cards which allow 2 micro SD cards to be used in the memory card slot of the PSP.

Enough space for about 80 or so PSP games. Perfect

All you have to do is put it in your computer using a card reader with two 32GB microSD cards and format it into Fat32. Proof that it works, lol.

And in case you miss the biggest evidence of all

Now the real question is how well will it read two 64GB cards... 120GB of space on a PSP, that would just be insanely crazy, LOL!
That kind of space on ANY gaming handheld is beyond necessary. :P (well, MAYBE not for the Vita if someone were to download a lot of games)
No its not. The more space the better.
Having a 16GB myself, I can't find any real reason, other than carrying an unreasonable amount of games, to have any size bigger than 32GBs honestly.
I have a 16GB for my PSP and I found I need more space since I only have about 1GB left and there is what 5 games being released in May I want to take with me as well.

If you've got about $170 to spend, LOL!!

64GB microSD x2

Photofast dual slot microSD Adapter

Altogether, it comes out to be $169.95. The free shipping on both items helps, but just a little, lol. If anyone has $170 to spend and wanna try this, I'd love to see pictures of a PSP with more than 100GBs of space open in the memory card info xD

64GB does not require custom firmware. Sony implemented support for memory sticks they have not released.
It isn't without precedent. Gamecube could use 2043 block cards, yet Nintendo chose to not produce their own.

I don't know whether custom firmware increases PSP's limit beyond what Sony included.

Might there be a M2 version of that for the Go?

1st off, MicroSD. From 0 to 2 GB is MicroSD format. From 4GB to 32GB is MicroSDHC format. From 64GB to ??? is MicroSDXC format.
The amount you're looking for is 2TB.

Actually, SDXC 3.0 and SDHC cards are the same except for the capacity and default filesystem. To be specific, "FAT32-formatted SDXC cards can be used in a host device built for SDHC if the host device (that would be the adapter) can handle 64GB and larger volumes". Several people have them in their HTC Thunderbolt which is not a SDXC device yet it works just fine.

Back in the days of 5.xx CFW (or was that 4.xx?) using 64GB and higher did require CFW due to a bug in Sony's driver (check the M33 release notes/changelogs if you don't believe me). However, they raised the limit to somewhere around 250GB in the 6.xx firmware versions which is why nobody has bothered to make a patch to raise it to 1TB (it is only 2TB if only unsigned variables are used and knowing Sony they probably used signed variables in some of their games).

I don't know what you're trying to say here, but the biggest an SDXC card can be is 2TB.

I am saying the difference between SDHC and SDXC is just how it comes formatted. In other words, take a 64GB SDXC card and reformat it with FAT32 and it is a 64GB SDHC card.

the m2 is pretty much the exact same size of a microsd card
