Sorry friend, but I created a topic here to promote the software that I created, however simple it is.
I'm happy when someone uses the software that I created, and I'm even happier when they comment on it.
Suggestions, compliments and criticisms are welcome!
Thank you!

Hi, I posted in your XK3Y forum thread and you haven't addressed my request yet so I thought I'd try here:
Is there a way to make the program use the gamenamelookup.csv file (ABGX360)? Cause some games have their names f*cked up in ABGX360 (like HALO 3 ODST DISC 2) but they're fine in the csv file. And I noticed you have the ABGX360 CLI on your program folder, so maybe there's a switch I could use to make it use the CSV instead of the online database?
You should check out WIIBACKUPMANAGER to get some ideas. That is an awesome and very complete program for WII games management.
Keep up the good work.

Ok, i will try! Thanks!
Sorry to keep pushing it but... What do you mean by "I will try"? Is there a way to force your program to use the gamenamelookup.csv file?
If you don't know what I'm talking about all you have to do is launch ABGX360 and check the case in options>check for updates/Include the CSV.
I'm attaching the file so can check it and see if there's a way to implement the renaming scheme to use it.
thanks.

Any news regarding this app? It should (in theory) be pretty simple to make it use the .csv file by default... So the names are correct.

Very sweet program, I was wondering if you could make a version that downloads PNGs? That'd be sweet since it works with the X360Dock ODDE as well. :D

Just an idea. It might be easier to include a convert to PNG (or other format(s)) button. I think it would be easier to convert, than to find another source with pre-converted images.

You may get smaller file size with little to no loss of quality if you go with PNG-8 instead of PNG-24. I think if unspecified, you will get PNG-24 by default with most programs. You can also keep transparency included and still get smaller than PNG-24 without transparency.

It's working great now. Glad to see that my suggestion worked :)
A couple of questions though: IS the gamenamelookup.csv file being updated everytime I start the program? Cause I tried tracing the connection but it didn't check with the database. So I ASSUMED it doesn't update? Or at least not every time I open the program? Am I correct?
The other question would be: Why would you want to get the artwork in png format? It's bigger than JPG and it doesn't really do anything special. If you do implement that please do it selectable, so as to not force any of us who are not interested in PNGs to reconvert compressed jpgs AGAIN.

Looks like he just added a "Convert to PNG" button, so you have nothing to worry about.

EDIT: Yes, works just like that. Thanks a bunch, just one more thing. Any possible way to implement automatic deletion of the JPG image after it's converted to PNG? It'd save me some time with manually deleting it. :)

Hello, gamenamelookup.csv is updated automatically if the file is modified in ABGX360.net if it does not happen I will do further testing.

Convert to PNG is a tool for users who want this format, JPG files are kept, I can put a delete option or select if is it PNG or JPG. I'll try compress the PNG, and continue ...

amd is a bit cheaper though

Cheaper and they are less stingy with the RAM not a big issue now but I can imagine in a yard or two things might be different

    Year not yard lol

the vram is one advantage when it comes to AI but ends up being slower even with that and really AI is the only use case that needs more than 12gb vram right now

    Interesting lol

I think I watched a video where two games at 4K where eating just over 16GB of RAM and it's the one case where the 7900XT and XTX pulled ahead (minus RTX of course)
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
So my opinion is that they could age a bit better in the future, and maybe AMD will continue improving them via drivers like they tend to do. No guarantee there but they have done it in the past. Just a feeling I have.

cyberpunk at 4k without DLSS/fidelityfx *might* exceed 12gb

but that game barely runs at native 4k
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think it was some newer games and probably poorly optimized PS4 or PS5 ports
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
they definitely will age better but i feel dlss might outweigh that since it looks about as good as native resolution and much less demanding

When I played Cyberpunk on my old 2080 Ti it sucked lol

AMD could introduce something comparable to DLSS but nvidia's got a lot more experience with that
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
least amd 7xxx has tensor cores which the previous generations didn't so there is the potential for AI upscaling
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They have FSR or whatever it's called and yeah it's still not great
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
so AMD seem to finally be starting to take AI seriously
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Oh yeah those new 8000 CPUs have AI cores built in that's interesting
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Maybe they plan on offloading to the CPU?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Would be kinda cool to have the CPU and GPU working in random more

    Tandem even
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow
