Nintendo subsidiary Monolith Soft is once again soliciting talent for its studio in Kyoto, Japan. They're hiring specifically for a 3DS project, seeking "effect designers, motion designers and 3DCG designers." No game details have been revealed from the developer who is also currently working on a project for Nintendo's upcoming Wii U console.

Monolith Soft are the creators of Xenoblade (Wii), which was just announced for release in Europe. With a slew of great games under their belt, let the speculation begin for what might be in store for 3DS owners.

A screenshot from Soma Bringer, yay!

I was excited when I read "Monolith" as I thought of "Blood, Blood 2, Get Medieval, Shogo: MAD" Monolith, but apparently it's not them, thus I shall leave peacefuly. ;P

Monolith is one of my favourite game developers so I'd definitely buy this if it comes to Europe. Soma Bringer looks really fun to play but it never came to Europe so I didn't get a chance. Wouldn't mind if it's just a port of that onto the 3DS.

Soma Bringer 3DS? That wouldn't be such a bad idea... except they never localized the damn game. I understand it's probably because of the lack of online for that particular title, but still... such a strong single player campaign mode, and yet they were worried the multiplayer won't make it sell it enough.

Anyways, let's see. Who knows, maybe they'll decide to do another free-roaming open world RPG on the 3DS, like Xenoblade's little brother (spinoff, but a proper one).

Really? Are you sure you don't mean America (seeing as it's been out for months in Europe)?
But cool, it seems they are a really good developer. I look forward to more from them!

You're absolutely right. I was confusing it with Pandora's Tower. Thanks for the correction.

the 3DS can totally do free roam, but it wouldn't have a very large drawing distance. just look at some of the maps in Samurai Warriors, with all gates opened, it's fairly large and without dashing would probably take a bit of romping to explore it all. Of course, Hyrule Field in Zelda3D is another good example, and that one has good draw distance as well.

I think with enough work put into it, it could probably do Shadow of the Colossus size maps (especially seeing how sparse the population of that game is, it would probably be easy). I suppose the less active objects in it, the farther the draw distance it can do.

you are right, i never admired hyrule field for how big it is, now that you pointed out it seems huge, and if the graphics are better than lzot and the game has free roam then bam!
profit!

bitch please!
xenoblade portable online!
Ok, that would actually be awesome! I thought "They should have made Xenoblade multiplayer" but then I realised it wouldn't work with just one screen. But if they did Xenoblade on the 3DS, even local multiplayer would work fine. And, it would just look awesome in 3D! Look at these on your 3DS browser: http://gamecrunch.co/3dsnap/xnb/
