I find the Wiimote+nunchuck as usable as the GC controllers.

But you'd be better off buying a new used Wii rather than finding a way to solder on gamecube ports, if you're that desperate.

(Hint: It is either impossible to attach gamecube ports or just impractically difficult, with no documentation so far)

th;dr, get used to another control method.

You can solder the GC ports back on if you find some spares and open it up. The case underneath even still has the holes, just unscrew the top cover.

professional brawl? how professional is this? is it a national league? do you have sponsors? do you wear clothes with logos all over them like a nascar or a UFC fighter? maybe you do endorsements and make speedstick commercials?

im sure one of your sponsors can get you a used wii. or maybe your agent can add a clause into your next contract that next time you do a deodorant commercial, they are to issue payment in the form of a used console.

im sure that your team training facility still has some of the old wiis. and if you need to train at home, maybe one of your team mates has a spare console in their equipment bag you can borrow. just a thought, but when you need practice for baseball, you can go to a batting cage. do they have batting cages for professional video game players?

actually, this would count as a work-related expense. you can buy a wii with the gamecube ports and it will be tax deductible. i would go ahead and get a new controller and TV with it and write them all off.

Dont you know? Professional gaming takes place in your parents basement with no lights other than the screen :)

Anyway as tueidj stated, the solderpoints are still there so it should be possible to re-add GC ports. Unless, the circuits are cut somewhere along the line as well (well, that can still be fixed...)
To my knowledge noone has done this yet, at least not on gbatemp, so you can be the first and tell if its working :)

I always thought of becoming a professional gamer.......but then I realized I need to keep my job so I can pay my bills and support my family.

But sort of getting back to the OP question, not so much an answer but an observation.....I wonder how many people are going to end up like this person and buy a new Wii and then realize after it doesn`t support GC anymore, I would be pissed for not doing my homework first and then even more mad at the big N.
