Do you think anyone comes here and checks what people have translated? Let me ask you one question, how many translations have been made because of this topic?
The answer is 0. Even if there was a voting system it'd be full of noobs quoting the whole translation request post hence making the whole thread a real mess.
Sega usually localizes it's games, if you're too impatient to play the translated game go learn how to romhack yourself.

Even if there were a poll or voting system for translatable game popularity, it wouldn't accomplish anything. Generally individuals translate games because they want to, not because the internets asks them to. Remember - these translations are a favor, not an obligation. If there were a cash or otherwise physical reward attached to completing a voted-on translation (e.g. the best translation of the top-voted game gets $600), then I'd agree with you.

omatic is right. A voting system would be stupid. Translators don't care about what people want (in most cases), they translate games that seem good to them.

Example: Let's say Pokemon Platinum (U) isn't out, and someone requested a translation of the Japanese one. Even if everyone "votes" for it, a translator that doesn't like Pokemon will most likely not bother with it.

Once again, the point of this topic:
Hackers/translators usually have better things to do than translating random requests. People don't want to involve themselves with games they don't even like. And why would they listen to some random dude asking "Hey, could you translate game x?"

Then why this thread? Firstly to get rid of all the random request topics of course. Secondly, a small increase of chance to get the game translated. Let me explain why that is: A translator or hacker want to see games translated too, but first they need to know these games. At some point, he comes across a game (reads a review, reads a website or downloads the game by accident etc.), and thinks: "wow, this game is pretty cool". From that point, the translator builds interest to translate the game.
And the only chance you (as the useless and lazy bum that you are

) have to get a game translated is to try to get the game known to trigger that impulse. That's why requests DON'T work, but what you need to do is present the game and hope a translator reads it! And that's pretty much also the whole point of the "request form". Sure, the chance of a capable someone reading it and starting a project may be small, but at least it's not 0% (more like 1% now).

Also, I see some request forms written with only a few lines for a description and with very few and/or unrepresentative screenshots, like a boxshot. Those requests are shit and you might as well do the ol' "can some plz translate this for me, kthnxbai" >_> The screenshots are really important to catch one's eyes, so take good ones!

I don't really have anything to offer, I'm just posting for the sake of it. I'm really just informing translators that this game has not been forgotten as well as adding it to the list. I think its a great game deserving to be on the list. I also may be making a few more posts here for the sake of getting more noteworthy RPG's on that list. Of course I'll only be suggesting games that have been oit for over 4 months without even the slightest news or hint that said titles have been set for English releases.

July 10, 2008. It's been like 8 months since its release, and I doubt this is going to be released in the US due to licensing issues


Game info
Draglade 2 is the sequel to...well, Draglade 1, released in the US/Europe around 2007.
What makes this game unique is that it's a fighting game with RPG and rhythm-based elements.
If you put Jump Superstars, Kingdom Hearts and Parappa the Rapper in a blender and set it on frappe, you'd get this game.
A lot of fixes have been made to the battle system making it a nice little rounded-out fighter and an excellent alternative to JUS (which is balance hell).

Banpresto, maker of the game is now fully owned by Namco Bandai. N-B won't let third party companies (ATLUS) publish their IPs. Therefore, it will probably be YEARS before the game is released Westside if ever - but chances are it won't be released in the West.
It's a niche title appealing to core gamers, similar to Trauma Center thus lowering its chances of being localized.

My offering
Well, actually I'm not asking anyone to really translate it FOR me...because I'm currently doing that right now. This is more like a "Help Wanted" - I need someone to translate it WITH me. >:
Currently I'm editing the graphics, translating the main menu/submenus and the ingame pause menu.
I've played through the game, beaten it and am familiar with most of the game's content - however, the inner workings of the game still confuse me.
All I need is a person who can help me figure out how text is stored, find offsets for character/"bullet" names, and help me devise up tables for the ingame alphabet (there are 4: one for displays, one for main menu topscreen descriptions, one for ingame character 'name tags' and lastly the ingame dialogue). English lettering IIRC already exists in the game so it's not like we have to draw up an entire alphabet and insert it like you do in a JRPG.
I can't find text anywhere except an arm9 file and that's just the English alphabet which doesn't appear anywhere ingame. The big "display" text are images so it kinda kills me that I can't find them within the game's tiles....maybe they're compressed.

I ask this because...I don't know how

You should create a project thread if you're actually starting a translation.

The bin archives are extremely simple - the first 4 bytes store the number of files n, then there are n entries after that consisting of the starting offset and length for each file. The individual script files are all LZ77 compressed; the text itself uses Unicode encoding.

Its been a while since a beyblade game, but this has been worth the wait. With what little i have been able to play, the gameplay is amazing. This most likely follows the story of the new series, and will catch on as beyblade is undergoing a huge revivial in Japan. I don't think this game will be released outside of Japan because there is no word of a new game or series in America, as there havn't been many new happenings in the beyblade industry for a while overseas.

This looks like it can be a good translation. I played it in Japanese and it's simple, but to know all the mechanics and stuff you need the main menu and the tutorial at least. I can test it out and even help with the translation pactch a little(If there's gonna even be one...)

The newest of the Monster Farm games in Japan, or Monster Rancher as it is called in the US. You can create new monsters by scanning GBA carts, speaking into the microphone, or drawing on the touch screen. Monster raising and battling is similar to the older Monster Rancher games, and the game supports WiFi monster battles.

Really, all that would need to be translated are the menus and MAYBE the monster names if it isn't too much trouble. Dialogue is trivial, of course.

Thanks in advanced if someone picks this up. I've been wanting to play a new Monster Rancher game for years.
