The journey continues with a few DS titles. Disney Princess Enchanting Storybooks for $9.50, my first Ace Attorney game Trials and Tribulations for $15.00. There were quite a few PW AA titles produced for the DS, will try to add them to the collection. On the 3DS side of things I picked up Harvest Moon A new beginning for 19.99, just a random title there. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Gates to Infinity for $29.99 to complete that series. Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call for $10.00, don't have a clue about the game but added it for collection fodder. My current collection is doing well, but I need to focus on the more popular titles, and spend the little extra to get some AAA titles in the mix. Still need Majora's Mask, Ever Oasis, ect. Also DS collecting is fun, though there are people selling resealed games and sealed fakes...that part sucks...have to watch that closely. I have a March of the Minis 2 being sent back because its an obvious resealed game. Oh well. My next blog post will be my budget series of DS/3DS titles for under $5.00. Help me with any games you think are Worthy to add to my collection. Thanks!

A few days later, and more arrive. Finally got some Sun and Moon action, not too bad for $34.00 each with a figure in the box. Fire Emblem Echoes for $34.00, looks to be the going rate. Still need Birthright, that game is more then Conquest..trying to figure that one out. Dragon Quest VII for $27.00, again not bad considering it was $39.99 on release. Another entry into the un-played pile goes the Shim Megami Tensei Soul Hackers for $27.00, need a couple more and I think I'll have the full 3DS set. To round out today's entry, Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask for $22.00. So I spent more then my $30.00 per game limit, but not by much. My factory sealed set continues to grow for both DS and the 3DS, current counts are at 142 unique DS titles and 95 unique 3DS titles.
As the title suggests, what the hell am I doing? I have duplicates and triplicates. Missing a few of the newer ones I know. Maybe one day I'll do something with em.
I figured I would document the cheaper side of DS/3DS collecting. All games are new/sealed. All of them were picked up at $5.00 or under. It can be called shovelware for sure, but some are interesting. Like the My English Coach..I read way back in the day that this title may come up rare in the US because most people know how to speak English and would want to learn different languages. Well you can find this title cheap as heck, so they may have been wrong, or they made too many. I figured it would be fun to collect the cheap games as well. Titles I never knew exsisted like Elmo's Musical Monsterpiece! and Math Play.
Today a bunch of games came in the mail. The favorite that stands out for me is Pokemon Ranger... I had the sequels but never could find a good sealed copy even back before the 3DS was even out. So yes to the Ranger! set me back $50. The next is Stella Glow, heard it was a decent game so I added it to the collection for $30. Monster Hunter Generations @ $20.99, I have not played one of these yet but will eventually. They seem like fun. Record Breaker set with the CD and extras for $29.88 seemed like a good deal from a solid franchise. Finally filling my empty Fire Emblem slots, with Conquest @ $32.00 seemed about right price wise. That collectors set Revelations is awesome but too much for my blood. Another, Shadow Dragon for the DS is a bit over the top price wise so I'll have a blank spot for that one too. Now we come to the last game, Rune Factory 2 DS for $29.99 to finish my collection of 1-4. Tell me what you think of my recent grabs so far. I have some more core games arriving. Pokemon Sun/Moon sealed, FE Echos, DQ VII, a Layton game, and Soul Hackers. Any advice on items to purchase? I've been looking to add Xenoblade and Hyrule warriors.
I was digging in a box of games trying to figure out what Gameboy Color titles I owned and found a couple odd ones. The first is the Singer Sewing Machine Operation software game pak. Looked it up, some are saying its the rarest Gameboy Color title, but I'm not too sure on that. Found a complete sewing machine with the gameboy color and this title selling for under $200. So it's an oddity in my book. I think I got it when I was looking for a nice clean teal gameboy color to add to the collection and this came with it. Next is this iCard Real-Time Race Information game pak for the Gameboy Color. Its cool, has an antenna and was used to show track times and car pos. at race events. Anyone here have an unusual, unique or odd games for the GameBoy? Would be neat to see or know of more items like these below.
A bunch of packages arrived in the mail today. I've been ordering old Star Trek novels...though collecting old books is difficult, especially paperbacks. Well moving on to the games! I picked up more items to fill and round the 3DS collection. The main attraction being the Etrian Odyssey 2 The Fafnir Knight...trying to keep my price per games budget under $30, but had to pay $48.99 for this one. It completes that collection until Etrian Oddyssey V comes out. Next is the Shin Megami Tensei IV game I picked up for $22.00, I noticed there are three more 3DS titles from this series..should I collect them all? I actually have never played this series on the DS or 3DS. Next...a physical copy of Super Mario Maker. My in-laws looked at my Christmas list and bought me a download code for the game..thats great and all but I like the actual game carts. That one set me back for $28.00. Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon..need this one to help complete my pokemon game collection. Pokemon Ranger is on the way and I just need to get Sun/Moon sealed now...and I think there is another 3DS mystery dungeon I need to get. This game cost me $30.00 so no big deals there. For my DS collection I've added Max & the Magic Marker, I remember the hype when this game came out. It was competing with Scribblenauts at the time I believe. It had decent reviews, so when I saw it for $12.00 new I figured it was time to add it. The last game to come in today was Rune Factory. I have one opened, but wanted a factory sealed one to add to the collection...not bad at $29.99. If anyone has coments on the current game picks, and what to get next let me know...there's a ton out there and I find myself sometimes buying the same game twice. Pic time:
I've been posting my new purchases on the forums, but figured I would host the pictures here and what I have been getting to add to my growing collection of new/sealed DS and 3DS games. The Gameboy and Gameboy Advance is one of my favorites to collect for but as time has gone on I have noticed it is more difficult to buy original sealed boxed games for any decent amount of money. So I've turned to the DS and 3DS titles. Now I have noticed increasing prices on some DS titles, but there are many to be had cheap. 3DS titles have really come down in price, possibly the attention on the new Switch has caused this or waning sales. Its a great time to be collecting for 3DS. These blog entries will track my new game additions. Previous blogs show some of my collection before I started updating it. The best part is you can have fun with this and build a cool collection with most titles costing $20 or under. There are some I paid more for, but are worthy. The reason I buy new/sealed games is they have always seem to go up in value over time, just get them at a discount first. Here is a picture of today's games that came in the mail. Batman games and some other 3DS titles to help round out my collection. Have some great games still arriving so stay on the watch for more entries.
I took a picture of my 3DS titles. Can you recommend any titles you see fit to add to this collection of new/sealed games? I have Zero Time Dilemma and Rune Factory 4 on order. Also Pokemon Sun/Moon may be added, though I have them already opened. I'm trying to stay under $30 a title, and finding alot of good titles under $25, so its a good time to be buying them.
I started with a CycloDS, moved to an Edge, then to some AceKards. Sure I bought the occasional R4 original, clone, ect. and some DSTTs to add to the collection. The AceKard stood out as my favorite. It worked, and my home brew programs booted flawlessly every time. So to pay homage I collected them for a little while...I'm missing the famed R.P.G. though...maybe one day I'll find one. The best thing was CFW on the 3DS allowed me to use these outdated cards once again...very cool.
I was collecting a few of the 2DSs new in box, as they came to market. The picture shows the Pink/White Disney, Sea Foam Green w/Mario Kart, Electric Blue Pokemon Y Edition, Crimson Red, Crimson Red Yo-Kai Edition, Crystal Red, Crystal Blue(my fav) and the newer Electric Blue 2 w/Mario Kart. Any fan favs out there? Anyone use one as a daily driver? There is an extra Electric Blue that I've been using to make CIAs from my carts. I love the simplicity and the cost.
The closet gave up some more boxes of games. I really need a game room, but the wife is against it. The spreadsheet I keep says I have way more then what's pictured. Time to dig some more. These games are all new in sealed boxes. On the same order as my GBA game collection, I purchased a flashcart to play my "backups" and kept the originals unused. So I support the game developers and flashcart makers at the same time. Its a win/win for them from my purchasing perspective. Some of these games have gone up in value. The Korg DS-10 is one of my favorite titles as you can see...Todderbert's hoard, and the reason your kid can't find a copy.
Digging through one of my closets and found this box of GBA games. I used to buy the game leaving it unopened and played my "backup" on an EZFA. I have to figure out a better storage setup, I've seen people using some type of box protectors. Have to figure out who sells them and which ones are the best. The other half of the collection is off to the side, had them double stacked. Most of those were commons and opened CIB games.
Back in the day I used to be into modding the original Xbox. I put together a shadow box display with various cheap modchips. The motherboard was pulled from a bad box due to a leaking aerogel(clock) capacitor which is a common problem. Remove them from the board to avoid damage(1.0-1.5).
