 | Properly stressing out!
| Thought this would be a good place for random musing right.
I'm a finalist at university... already done 3 years and now mid way through my 4th!
Have just sat two exams... one monday and one tuesday.
Now, I've sat alot of exams before. But never really cared. I generally did little to no work throughout the year, limited revision and then kind of rocked along. Got acceptable but lowish grades because of it. I was pretty unstressed though.... enjoyed the time after the exam not having to worry about exams and results though.
This year however, I've had fresh motivation. I've attended most lectures, kept my notes tidy/clean.... probably not done as much reading etc as I should but generally still kept on top of most things. Come revision time, I've worked my arse off. My friends have been amazing, dragging me out of bed.... along to the place we study, keeping me motivated etc. Been working from 9am till 10pm for about 16 days. Really worked pretty hard.
Did my 2 exams... feel they went pretty well, knew my stuff and was pretty confident in what I wrote. But even after the exams, I'm so stressed.
I'm petrified about getting a low mark or similar mark to previous years.
I guess its the whole I never really tried before. So when I didn't do great, its because I didn't try.... I could pretend I was ultra smart because I achieved low 2:1s, high 2:2s with no effort. My grade is current high 2:2. Now that I've tried.... what if I get the same or lower??
I should feel relaxed and mellow, enjoy the week and 1/2 off.
Instead I just feel sick and anxious about my results (which arent for ages) |

Hope your Christmas so far has been enjoyable... and that it continues to be enjoyable.
I'd like to take the time to thank all the staff members of GBATemp.net for all the hardwork you guys have put in for 2008! There are so many very cool things on GBATemp... much to many to name! But even though you have one of the most thankless jobs in the world.... Thank you, we do appreciate all your hardwork and effort!
Most recently, a massive thank you for running the Tempmas comps - everyone tends to get so touchy during comps - they just focusing on the fact they want to win, so they lose sight of the fact you've put a lot of effort into running it and everything that happens behinds the scenes (the guy whining about losing on the cake for instance!). So thank you to those who ran the contests.... dice, ace, jph and of course our wonderful admins Shaun and Costello!
So yeah, thank you all the staff.... and the admins...... dice, ace, shaun, jph .. for running the contests and the entire site =D

| Right so any time that a game isn't a brand new "uber" game targetted at 18 to 24 year old hardcore gaming freaks, all the whiners come out and start crying shovelwear. And I'm really sick of it.
If it wasn't for the so called shovelware, the DS wouldn't be even half as strong as it is today.
As someone who used to work in a video game retail, I can tell you that people do buy these games. In fact, things like the imagine... series sell more than whatever obsqeure RPG you people have been creaming your shorts about.
If people didn't make games with mass market appeal, then the console wouldn't sell.
Things like the imagine series also aren't "shovelware".
That's another annoying thing. People are saying shovelware to basically any game that isn't for them.
But the imagine series is actually a properly fairly well developed... and more importantly heavily marketed series of games.
Shovelware is things like the popcorn arcade group where they throw out alot of shit games, with fuck all development going into them. with the company hoping for medium sales over many different products.
i'm quite tipsy at the moment. but i will whine more about this later. then link every single whining idiot who doesn't understand the world of business surrounding their precious video games.
