Video Games Live

Video Games Live ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_Games_Live ) came to my city and I went to their concert yesterday. yaynds.gif

It's something really silly if you think about it, an orchestra playing video game music.. eh? It's not a band playing their greatest songs, not a famous singer, it's just.. video game music.. you could just play the games to hear them.. well, that's what I thought.. but every person I know that went to the show in previous years told that the thing was good so I decided to see what the fuzz was all about.

I discovered that there's something really mystical and special about video game music, I can't explain it.. but for the whole time I kept smiling and feeling happy with the thing, maybe it's the nostalgia factor, remember about the games, maybe it's the fact that I was surrounded by hundreds of people like me.. I don't know why, but watching an orchestra perform the song from Green Hill Zone is something very special, I'm glad I was there biggrin.gif

And I'm happy to see how big gaming culture is becoming, would never expect to see something like that 10 years ago. I wonder if when movies started they had this kind of thing tongue.gif

I has a new job!
With games! :D
Monday I start on my new job at a small company in my city that makes games for PC, Wii and DS..

I'll start as a programmer on a project they're making using Flash, but have some expectations to move up to console development later, told my boss there about my experience making DS homebrew (I started some.. never finished any >_>) and he got impressed.

The ambient there seems really nice, a small group of people, most gamers and nerds like me, and they had some big weird machines for DS development.. I always thought they used something like a flashcard unsure.gif .. anyway I think I'll fit nicely there smile.gif

They have no console games out yet, they acquired the Nintendo license recently.. but they are working on some projects. It's a small brazilian company so, don't expect anything big.. they make mostly simple, casual games.. but it's a start wink2.gif

That also means I'll have less time for GBATemp and you people will have less Cock.. RoachMan frown.gif
I'll do my best to don't disappear smile.gif

My first blog post.. about SSBB, I know that are a lot of old topics about that on the Wii forums but I didn't want to bump some old threads to express my personal opinions.. thought this would be a better place.

Well, after practically everyone at GBATemp, I finally had the chance to play SSBB. Went to Paraguay yesterday (games are a lot cheaper there tongue.gif) and bought it..

Now, I was never much into SSB, played the N64 version only on emulators and played Melee 2 or 3 times at some friends house.. decided to buy this one to see what the fuzz was all about (and I have finished all my Wii games anyway, needed something now).
I won't enter in details about the game cause everyone played it by now, but I'm liking it.. and I found out that I liked stuff in the game that most Smash Bros fans didn't.. first, the controls.. I'm really enjoying using the Wiimote only thing.. tried the GC and the Wiimote+nunchuck mode and the Wiimote alone is definitely my favorite! I saw a lot of people bashing it, most Melee players saying that the GC was the best, etc.. I feel like playing a SNES/Genesis game with it.. just a D-Pad and 2 buttons (I know there are more buttons), and I love this feeling! Damn I'm old sleep.gif

Second, I'm liking the Story mode, which I also saw a lot of people complaining about. It's a nice Platform/Beat-em-up game with an "old-school" felling. Been sometime since I played something like that. This + the "NES" type control + hearing the Donkey Kong Country songs brought me some good nostalgic feelings smile.gif

It's weird how this game completely ignores the Wii controls, even the menus, mini-games, map builder, etc.. seriously, after playing some Wii games, I got used to just point at the menu items and choose whatever I want.. why couldn't even this be done!? It's a Wii game dammit! The map building, positioning the stickers, choosing the characters.. would be much more comfortable with that IMO. And about that I saw no one complaining, guess I'm the only person using the Wiimote after all tongue.gif
